Licensing/Regulatry Infrmatin This level f qualificatin is currently cited as meeting sme f the requirements fr certificatin as a Cxswain Grade 1 Near Castal as defined by the Natinal Standard fr Cmmercial Vessels (NSCV) Part D. Certificatin will require achievement f the MAR20313 Certificate II in Maritime Operatins (Cxswain Grade 1 Near Castal), qualifying sea service and cmpleted Australian Maritime Safety Authrity (AMSA) apprved task bk r qualifying sea service, AMSA final assessment, an apprpriate radi certificate f prficiency and an AMSA apprved first aid certificate; peple seeking certificatin shuld check with AMSA. 3 Admissin Requirements Language, Literacy, and Numeracy It is a requirement f this curse that all enrlling students undertake a language, numeracy and literacy assessment. Age restrictins Technlgy QMTS will accept enrlments frm students befre their 16 th birthday prvided they meet all ther Admissin Requirements. Nte: Applicants must be 16 years f age r abve t be issued by AMSA with a certificate f cmpetence under the Natinal Standards fr Cmmercial Vessels - Part D - Certificates f Cmpetency (Refer AMSA Guidance Ntice). As sme f the delivery f the curse is n-line and all resurces are cntained in a dedicated learner prtal, a student must have access t a cmputer (with Micrsft Office sftware). Free Wi-Fi is available during training blcks. As students will receive training in the use f the QMTS student prtal they shuld have basic cmputer skills t cmplete the curse withut disadvantage. Enrlment Dcumentatin When enrlling int a QMTS curse it is a requirement that all enrlment dcumentatin is received befre enrlment cnfirmatin can ccur. The required dcuments are listed belw; Pre-Enrlment Interview Frm Persnal Details Frm that includes the student s Unique Student Identifier (USI) (required befre enrlment can be cmpleted). Enrlment and Student Acknwledgement Frm Please als nte that Students will need t prvide QMTS with their Unique Student Identifier (USI) befre enrlment can be cmpleted. Methd f Delivery The units f the MAR20313 Certificate II in Maritime Operatins (Cxswain Grade 1 Near Castal) are delivered ver 12 mnths as a self-paced, self-directed distance learning prgram supprted by a 14-day wrkshp (in class face-t-face training) and 240 hurs t cmplete the Wrkplace Task Bk. Students wh have sea service time in excess f 240 days will nt be required t cmplete a Wrkplace Task Bk. The delivery f this qualificatin is facilitated thrugh a blend f different mdes including: Wrkshps (in class face-t-face training held bi-mnthly) Online Training (including webinars and skype training sessins t facilitate ne-n-ne training) Self-paced and self-directed learning An AMSA Wrkplace Task Bk cmpleted in a real wrkplace under the supervisin f a suitably qualified persn and authenticated by QMTS may be required befre a qualificatin can be issued. The flexibility f the prgram allws each student additinal hurs f supervised instructin, if required, by attending mre than ne wrkshp. Fr every unit in which they are enrlled, students may be required t attend that relevant unit in a wrkshp at least nce in the 12 mnths f their enrlment. As part f this Qualificatin students will als cmplete the units f the Shipbards Safety Skill Set prir t the issuing f a curse cmpletin certificate. Payment Optins Certificate 3 Guarantee The Certificate 3 Guarantee supprts eligible individuals t cmplete their first pst-schl Certificate III qualificatin. This initiative is funded by the Queensland Gvernment. Students eligible fr this subsidy will be required t cntribute t the cst f this curse thrugh a c-cntributin fee. T be eligible fr the Certificate 3 Guarantee students must: be 15 years r lder be n lnger at schl (with the exceptin f schl students in Years 10, 11 and 12 undertaking a VET in Schl (VETiS) prgram) permanently reside in Queensland be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident (including humanitarian entrants), temprary resident with the necessary visa and wrk permits n the pathway t permanent residency, r a New Zealand citizen; and nt hld, and nt be enrlled in Certificate III r higher-level qualificatin (des nt include qualificatins cmpleted in secndary schl) that is in anther industry ther than the Maritime industry. 6 Recgnitin Prcesses Learners are able t have their cmpetency frm prir learning and wrk experience recgnised in this qualificatin thrugh the fllwing arrangements: Recgnitin f Prir Learning (RPL) RPL is recgnitin f prir learning r skills btained frm previus study r wrk/life experience. Learners, wh thrugh prir learning r experience believe they have gained cmpetence in any f the skill areas, may be granted RPL upn substantiatin f that claim. QMTS ffers RPL n enrlment and the trainer will wrk with the student t define the ptential fr a successful applicatin prcess. A range f assessment methds are available t the assessr t determine the RPL applicatin, including interview, ral r written questining f knwledge, vide r third party and referee reprts and wrk histries. Students may als apply fr a credit transfer upn enrlment. If yu are deemed t be Nt Cmpetent in a unit (after three thery r three practical assessment attempts r due t disciplinary actin) yu will have t re-enrl in that unit and pay the unit enrlment fee. There will be n additinal cst fr the fllwing: 1. The re-issue f lst r replacement certificates r statements f attainment. 2. The re-assessment fr the first tw attempts after the initial assessment f a thery assessment. A student will receive three attempts at a Practical Assessment at n charge except in circumstances as described abve where a student is unable t access a scheduled grup practical assessment r where a student requires r requests a private practical assessment. In such cases the abve Private Practical Assessment Sessin fees apply. As stated abve additinal fees will ccur if after 3 Thery Assessment attempts r 3 Practical Assessment attempts the student has still nt gained a Satisfactry result. 3.
