1 Wrk Exchange Infrmatin Break Camps & Summer 2019 Thank yu fr yur interest in this prgram! It has been mutually beneficial t ur camp and the families participating ver the years. We receive much needed help with varius behind the scene tasks, like washing tys, preparing bins and materials fr activities, and cleaning materials. Parents receive camp at Schl Break, Tilden Outdr, On-the-G Field Trips r Pre-K fr their kids, wh are either campers r yuth leaders (CITs r JCs). Our ideal participant is ne wh is respnsible and thrugh, but als easyging. They check and reply t regularly, have read all the infrmatin prvided, and ask questins if unsure abut any details. Please see fee chart belw fr details abut hurs needed fr half and full trades. The trade rate based n full tuitin is $24/hur. Fr half trades, applicable early-tier r multiple-week discunts wuld be pr-rated. 2. Nt all weeks are pen t wrk exchange. Please view the financial aid applicatin and any weeks that say N/A are nt eligible. 3. Wrk exchange can be cmbined with financial aid. 1

2 Please review the fllwing basic prgram inf and jbs list (pages 3-5), and if still interested, please fllw steps listed n page 5 t apply. Basic Wrk Exchange Prgram Inf: 1) Enrllment is Onging Until Jbs All Taken: Yu will see jbs list in fllwing pages. At the time yu apply, sme f these culd already be taken, but there will still be thers t chse frm. 2) Task Infrmatin: The jbs are very imprtant, and yu will be respnsible fr knwing when and what yu will need t d, s make sure t add t yur calendar nce things are clear. (We wn t always be able t remind yu, althugh we wish we had the peple pwer!) 3) Estimated Hurs: We have put tgether jb cllectins that shuld take abut 5 hurs f wrk. Yu can chse multiple jb cllectins t d a half r full trade and/r multiple weeks f camp. If yur jbs are all cmpleted and turned int Samantha, yu will receive credit. 4) Charges if Yu D Nt Cmplete Wrk: If yu d nt cmplete all f yur jbs, yu will be required t pay the tuitin due. 5) Shpping Reimbursement: Fr shpping jbs, yu will pay up frnt and submit a reimbursement frm (with all receipts) t ffice r receive petty cash frm the Wrk Exchange Crdinatr. 6) Details abut a Jb: Besides the written inf included here, yu will als be in cmmunicatin with Samantha Swr, ur Wrk Exchange Crdinatr. She will get yu reimbursement frms, phne numbers, and training, t help yu feel cnfident in yur ability t d yur tasks. 7) Appintment Rescheduling Fee: Fr mst f these jbs, yu will need t set an appintment with Samantha fr training, r t pick up/drp ff items. Please cmmunicate with Samantha via phne/text/ if smething shifts and we can reschedule. If yu are unable t make it t yur appintment withut cmmunicating with Samantha, yu will be charged a $20 rescheduling fee. We value yur wrk exchange in cntributing t ur camp, and need t value ur time as well. 8) Physical, Nn-Glamrus Wrk: Yu will be respnsible fr carrying bins t and frm ur ffice fr sme jbs. Make sure yu can lift at least punds befre signing up fr these jbs. Many jbs are nt glamrus, while still very imprtant fr ur reputatin fr running a very efficient, prfessinal rganizatin, s thanks fr yur supprt and patience. 9) Parking: At the ffice, use street parking if pssible. Please d nt blck any neighbr driveways r take up tw spaces, when yu can park in ne. Yu can blck the driveway at the hme ffice fr a shrt time if yu have heavy things and can t park nearby. 10) If Yu Cannt Cmplete an Assigned Task: We take the cmmitment yu made seriusly, as the jbs are imprtant t the prgram running smthly, s please nly cmmit if yu are sure. We knw there are urgent situatins that arise. If yu cannt cmplete an assigned task, let Samantha knw as sn as pssible s that we can arrange fr smene else t take ver, and assign yu a different task t make up the time. We will send cntact inf in cntract. 11) Feedback: This prgram is a wrk in prgress. Shuld yu becme a part f ur prgram, we welcme cnstructive feedback s that we can make any details clearer fr future participants.

3 WORK EXCHANGE JOBS LIST The list is arranged by pre-summer, summer, and pst summer jbs. Pre-Summer Camp Prep (starts February-April and runs int mid-june): Launder parachutes & cstumes, ALL IN in frnt lading washing machine gentle cycle. Hang t dry cmpletely. Organize and deliver back t the ffice. (Yu can g t a Laundrmat t wash multiple lads and use frnt lad machine, at yur wn expense, if yu d prefer.) Repair by hand r machine as needed. (5 hurs-smetime in April r early May) Tw Jbs (5 hurs ttal) 1. Clean ut/restck Jurnal Bins, & marker/pencil cntainers fr OTG, Swim day, & P.M. bins. Sharpen pencils, restck markers. 2. Pick up at ffice and deliver items t the Dept fr Creative Reuse, n Telegraph in Oakland Tilden Strage Shed Set-Up (2 peple)-meet at Nrth Berkeley ffice at 8:30 and then travel t Tilden t unlad fr rest f the time: Help unlad UHAUL and set up shed fr the summer. Need strength, althugh we will have carts and dllies, but there is a hill up and dwn, s need cardi and muscle strength (5 hrs ttal - mst likely Tuesday 6/4, 8:30-12:30 pm) Prepare supplies fr activities (Smetime during perid f Feb-June). Pick up and return t us. Actual jbs depend n ur needs. Culd be paper/fabric cutting, cunting items, labeling, etc. (5 hurs) *There are 7 f these jbs, usually 2 max per persn. Tw Jbs (5 hurs ttal) 1. Shp fr crnstarch, liquid starch, pudding, whip cream - varius supplies. Submit reimbursement frm and receipts fr expense. 2. Recycling Delivery in May: Pick up at ffice and deliver items t El Cerrit recycling center n Schmidt in El Cerrit During the Summer (June, July, August): Prepare supplies. Pick up and return t us-cutting fabric fr flags; making pre-aged pirate maps; sharpening pencils; cutting paper, rlling balls f yarn. (5 hurs) There are 3 f these jbs. Cme play live backgrund music fr an hur and 15 minutes during the mrning free perid at camp, twice a week fr tw weeks 4 visits ttal (8:30-9:45)- This means t play yur vilin, fr example, nt t DJ. (5 hurs) There are 3 f these jbs. Every Other Tuesday best if yu can d at least 3 f these dates - 6/11, 6/25, 7/9, 7/23, 8/6, 8/20 Purchase and Deliver Little Farm Celery & Lettuce (nn rganic kay) t Tilden Meadws Picnic Area between 8:30 am and 10 am. Buy 4 heads f lettuce and 4 bunches f celery. Buy 2 brwn bags at stre and separate s that each ne has 2 heads lettuce and 2 bunches celery. Put in the shade n spreads with Staff bags under the Buckeye tree-ask staff fr help. Submit reimbursement frm, receipts fr expense. (1.5 hurs each Tuesday) Thursdays- best if yu can d at least 3 f these dates - 6/13, 6/20, 6/27, 7/11, 7/18, 7/25, 8/1, 8/8, 8/15 - Shp fr Ppsicles fr campers & staff and Deliver t Lake Anza grassy field at 3:15 pm (timing imprtant.) Ttal number will be put n Ggle Calendar Mnday each week, but usually between 4-6 f the 12 packs: Dreyer's Outshine, Variety Pack Fruit Bars, the skinny nes (Strawberry/Wildberry/Lime OR Cherry/Grape/Tangerine OR Kids Fruit & Veggie bars OR Fruit and Veggie bars NOT sugar-free kind.) I have pictures will send f 4 kinds we want. Best t get all f ne kind, if pssible. Safeway (ur discunt number t type in at check ut ) r at Berkeley Bwl. Call ahead t rder r make sure this brand is in stck, r leave time t visit anther stre, r buy earlier in the week, if that helps. Please dn't buy anther brand. Submit reimbursement frm and receipts fr expense. (1.5 hur each Thursday)

4 Pst Summer Camp (fr all f these, sme time fr ffice pick up and delivery is included): Wash ut ur crates, bins and lids- scrubbing, hsing dwn and air drying. Imprtant t return fully dry r they get mldy. Even the little crannies... sunlight is the best. Might take 2 trips t get/return all the bins if yu have a small vehicle. (5 hurs) Wash tarps. Plastic tarps - Wash bth sides well, scrub with brush r scrubbie spnge and jet rinse with a hse. Hang r spread n lawn t DRY. (5 hurs) Clean Equipment - Empty crates, Scrub balls, bats, catchers, ftstls, cnes, and clers with green scrubbie and spray sap, spray ff with hse. Scrub dwn each crate inside and ut, keeping label dry if pssible. Let all equipment and bins dry cmpletely (sun is great!) Replace items in same bins they came in (5 hurs). Clean ut/restck Jurnal Bins, & marker/pencil cntainers fr GOTG, Swim day, & P.M. bins. Sharpen pencils. (5 hurs) Three Jbs: (5 hurs ttal) 1. Clean scissrs. Take scissrs ut f each scissrs bx, and keep separate. Spray and wipe ut bxes well. Keep labels n if pssible. Wash scissrs well with green scrubby and special sap. Really scrub t get all the tape/g ff, please. When scissrs and bxes are all COMPLETELY dry, replace in bxes, hw they came, matching the numbers with thse n the utside f the bx. Write a nte abut any brken, missing scissrs s they get replaced. 2. Clean & match-up Flag belts. Each belt has 2 clred rund parts with velcr, and 2 lnger strips with velcr that attach t the rund parts. Match up belts by single clr ( 2 yellws n a belt, 2 blues n a belt)- nt a mix f bth. Spray w/ sap & wipe ff each flag with a rag. Make a nte f any missing parts and keep flag belts missing parts in a separate bag. 3. Clean dirt and grass ff rpes with shaking, wipe with rags sprayed with sap. Let dry in the sun if damp. Wind up neatly and tie t secure, with tag telling hw lng it is visible at the end. G ver any writing that's hard t read with sharpie. Make a nte f any labels yu can t read. Wash manipulatives- Legs, K nex, play-dugh tls, animals, game pieces, etc. Empty each bin, please spray and wipe ut the bins well, inside and ut, s that when the tys are dry they can g in a clean bin. Try t keep labels n if pssible. Put pieces t be washed in the dishwasher in ne layer in net bags we prvide. Let pieces dry cmpletely befre putting back in bins. May take time in the sun, r a cuple f days in dry heat. (5 hurs) Launder sprts and first aid bags and grund spreads, ALL IN frnt lad washing machines-gentle cycle. Hang t dry cmpletely. Organize and deliver back t the ffice. (Yu can g t a Laundrmat t wash multiple lads and use frnt lad machine, at yur wn expense, if yu d prefer). (5 hurs) Launder spreads, smcks, and rags. (5 hurs) Launder parachutes & cstumes, ALL IN in frnt lading washing machine gentle cycle. Hang t dry cmpletely. Organize and deliver back t the ffice. Scrub abut 20 small ples with gentle, blue scrubbie until clean. 2. Clean sand tys and sand ty bags. Empty bags (keeping bags and tys separate) and wash them inside and ut. Keep the labels dry if pssible. Let the bags dry cmpletely. Wash the sand tys well with a hse, let dry cmpletely and then return in bag. Thrw away any

Octber Recycling/Electrnic Waste Delivery: Pick up at ffice and deliver items t El Cerrit recycling center n Schmidt in El Cerrit (2 hurs) Next Step t Apply fr Mnkey Business Camp Wrk Exchange Prgram ur Office Manager, Kira, with 1. Which weeks yu wuld like t sign up fr, and if yu want extended care 2. If yur child is a camper, CIT, r JC 3. If yu want full r half trade She will reply cnfirming inf and number f hurs needed and cc ur Wrk Exchange Crdinatr, Samantha, wh will send yu a list f available jbs. Fllw-Up t Cmplete Prcess Within 4 days f receiving the frm Samantha, her back with yur chices fr jbs. The faster yu reply, the mre likely the jbs yu want will still be available. Samantha will send yu a cntract, waiting fr yur signature. Camp weeks will nt be reserved until the cntract received back, s respnding within a few days is very helpful. Kira will be in tuch with yu abut camper frms t fill ut and hw t pay yur balance if it s less than a full trade. If yu are ding full trade, we require a $0.01 payment s that we have a credit card n file fr any drp-in extended care, merchandise that yu might buy at camp, r fr payment (fr incmplete jbs).
