Please wait patiently in the lbby. WHAT IF CAMP IS FULL? Registratin is pen until each week reaches the maximum capacity. The maximum capacity fr Camp CAN is 50 campers and Camp ROX is 35 campers. There is a waiting list fr weeks that are full. Yu must ask t jin the waiting list. It des nt cst anything t be n the waiting list and it is strngly encuraged as we g t the waiting list every year Registratin Dates Please submit frms based n the fllwing schedule: Registratin Opens fr Returning Campers: February 6 th Registratin Opens fr Residents: February 6 th Registratin Open fr Nn-Residents: February 12 th Prgram Overview This 10-and-a-half-week summer prgram perates Mnday thrugh Friday, starting June 6, 2018, ending August 17, 2018 (N camp July 4 th ). We will be starting n a Wednesday this year; the first week s tuitin will be adjusted t reflect the half week. The Summer Camp Prgram, which is geared twards children entering grades 1 thrugh 8, is divided int tw age-specific camps explained belw. Participants will experience naturebased activities, fitness, sprts, art, music, interactive educatinal lessns, pl time, guest speakers f varius trades and mre! Campers will als take 2 field trips each week t lcal destinatins. Bth camps are held at Eagle View Middle Schl, there are different hme bases fr each camp. CAMP C.A.N. stands fr Children Adventure & Nature and is a recreatin prgram geared tward children entering grades 1 thrugh 4. The average child-t-staff rati is 6:1. The main lcatin is the Auxiliary Gym at Eagle View Middle Schl. CAMP R.O.X. stands fr Recreatin & Outdr Excursins and is a recreatin prgram geared tward children entering grades 5 thrugh 8. The average child-t-staff rati 7:1 and the main lcatin is the cafeteria at Eagle View Middle Schl. CAMPER SHIRTS Each camper will receive ne (1) t-shirt included with tuitin. The shirts help imprve visibility f campers when in a grup setting. This is the main reasn fr bright clred t-shirts. The camper will receive the size nted n their registratin frm Additinal shirts can be purchased fr a fee f $10 per shirt. 5 PARENT NIGHT - Get t knw the Camp Staff during Parent Night, which will be held n Thursday, May 31 st frm 6pm-7pm in the Eagle View Middle Schl Auditrium. Parents are encuraged t jin us this evening fr a brief verview f the facilities and the staff. We ll d ur best t address any questins r cncerns yu may have leading int the summer. Childcare is nt prvided during parent night, yu may bring yur camper, keep in mind there is a lt f infrmatin distributed and explained n this night fr all parents t hear. WEEKLY NEWSLETTERS - Newsletters are sent electrnically at least ne-week prir and will be available nline at The newsletter will help yu prepare fr each week. We ll include infrmatin n field trips, water activities and what t wear, themes, etc. It will als prvide the mst up-t-date infrmatin regarding changes t the activity schedule r special instructins and/r guidelines t fllw. SPECIAL ASSISTANCE - If a child needs special assistance, please cntact the Recreatin Office n less than 21 days prir t the first day f camp. Silver Spring Twnship will d all they can t make a reasnable accmmdatin fr the child. AGE-APPROPRIATE ACTIVITIES Campers fllw a pre-established, well-runded schedule, supervised by staff Campers are typically rganized int c-ed grups based n their age and grade (entering in the fall). Sme campers may mve between grups depending n the activity r need Sme large grup activities are planned s that campers have a chance t interact with ne anther LUNCH & SNACKS Campers must bring a packed lunch in a self-cntained cler, unless specified A refrigeratr is nt prvided Each child must bring a water bttle each day f camp because we take water breaks thrughut the day. There are water funtains at the schl and children are reminded t fill their bttles especially when leaving fr field trips. Label all lunch items such as lunch bxes, clers, water bttles, etc. Lunch is smetimes prvided. Parents are ntified in weekly newsletters. If lunch is prvided, this meal is ptinal and fr the safety f campers and staff, all fd items that are prvided d nt cntain peanut butter r fd prducts cntaining peanuts. We ask that yur children d nt bring any fd items cntaining nuts r nut prducts. Feel free t send snacks t camp with yur camper s name n them, there is time in the mrning and afternn fr the camper t have a snack. PERSONAL BELONGINGS Campers are respnsible fr their wn belngings Persnal belngings shuld be labeled. This includes backpacks, water bttles, etc. Campers are nt permitted t bring electrnic games and/r tys unless nted n the weekly newsletter Silver Spring Twnship and its staff are nt respnsible fr lst r stlen items FIELD TRIPS Campers must wear the 2018 Camper T-Shirt fr ALL field trips. Field trips are taken at least 2 times per week, unless therwise specified Trips are subject t change at any time, fr any reasn. It is the parent/guardian s respnsibility t read weekly newsletters fr the mst up-t-date infrmatin. Yu may request an electrnic r paper cpy. Paper cpies are available at the check-in table. If yur child is absent r if their registratin begins n any week ther than the first week, please btain a cpy f the weekly schedule s yu are aware f days that the camp will be taking a field trip. In the event f rainy cnditins, trips may be cancelled r pstpned. There is n refund r discunt fr days when trips are cancelled. 6 SWIMMING & WATER ACTIVITIES Each camper will take a brief water skills test with lifeguards, each week, t determine skill level. This will be explained in mre detail during the Parent Night. A child may be excluded frm activities if they are nt wearing apprpriate shes. Sandals may ONLY be wrn during water activities. Expsure t the utdrs is frequent and weather permitting Sunscreen must be applied by the parent/legal guardian r camper, prir t drpping them ff Camp staff is nt permitted t apply sunscreen t yur child, they may apply the spray sunscreen Review the weekly schedule fr specific instructins n utdr events, water activities, weekly themes, etc. Mst activities require physical exertin. Lse fit clthing is preferred CODE OF CONDUCT Campers are expected t abide by all camp rules and regulatins and must be respectful t thers Campers must refrain frm using ful language and causing harm t self, thers r staff If behaviral prblems ccur, verbal caching and ther accepted discipline measures shall be implemented by staff If discipline measures and cperatin with the parents/guardians fails t reslve a behaviral issue, the child may be suspended r dismissed frm the prgram. N refunds are issued fr campers remved frm the prgram DISCIPLINE - Inapprpriate behavir, even f a minr nature, will be addressed in a timely manner t prevent escalatin. Our discipline plan has three levels f inapprpriate behavir. These levels are assessed by severity. This will be cvered in mre detail during Parent Night. Cunselrs will implement cnsequences fr minr infractins, while mre serius vilatins are t be addressed by the camper s parents and Camp Directrs. BULLYING Bullying is any unwanted behavir(s) by anther yuth r grup f yuths wh are nt siblings r current dating partner that invlves an bserved r perceived pwer imbalance and is repeated multiple times r is highly likely t be repeated. Bullying may inflict harm r distress n the targeted yuth including physical, psychlgical, scial r educatinal harm Natinal Center fr Injury Preventin and Cntrl, Centers fr Disease Cntrl and Preventin and the US Department f Educatin. Silver Spring Twnship will nt tlerate any frm f bullying. Any sign f this type f behavir will immediately be addressed with a frmal write-up and a meeting with a Camp Directr. Depending n the severity f the instance, a meeting with Administrative Staff and dismissal frm the prgram is pssible. ILLNESS/INJURY & EMERGENCIES If yu have a family emergency and need t pick-up yur child, cntact the Camp Staff directly at (717) We will nly dismiss a child t thse authrized t pick-up/drp-ff. This shuld be nted n the pick-up/drp-ff sectin f the camper registratin frm. Refunds are nt issued fr missed days If a prlnged illness ccurs, a dctr s nte is required frm yur family dctr nting yur child s inability t participate in the remainder f the prgram. Refunds in this case are at the discretin f the Silver Spring Twnship Parks and Recreatin Department. The parent/guardian f any child wh becmes ill/injured during camp will be ntified and may be asked t pick-up their child Shuld a serius medical emergency arise, lcal emergency services will be cntacted. Staff will remain with the child and the parents/guardians will be cntacted. 7 MEDICATION(S) - Campers are permitted t bring their prescribed daily dsage fr taking medicatin during the hurs f the Summer Camp prgram. Summer Camp emplyees are directed nt t administer the prescribed medicatins fr any reasn at any time. Please cnsult with the Camp Directr t address dsage and daily requirements, as prescribed.
