Continue on this road, passing Glenfinnan, Lochailort and Arisaig. About 0.5 miles north of Arisaig, turn left onto the B8008/alternative costal route. After 3.5 miles turn left at the sign for Camusdarach, continue down the drive and through the gate marked The Larch House. Situation The Larch House has an enviable position in one of the most scenic parts of the Atlantic seaboard of the West Highlands. Opposite the Inner Hebrides, its beaches face the islands of Rum, Eigg, Muck and Skye. The village of Arisaig has a post office, general store, restaurants, two churches and a primary school. Mallaig, 7 miles to the north, has a wider range of schools, shops, restaurants, hotels and a swimming pool, medical services and is a ferry terminal for Skye and the Small Isles. Fort William, the Outdoor Capital of the Highlands, offers a full range of shops, supermarkets, hospital and dental facilities and business services, along with a host of leisure and sports facilities, and further education at Lochaber College. The nearest railway stations are at Morar or Arisaig on the West Highland Line to Fort William, with connections to Glasgow. The sleeper service from Fort William to London Euston takes about 12 hours, arriving at about 8 am. From Fort William, the A82 provides links both north and south. Inverness Airport (103 miles) has scheduled domestic flights and, in summer, a range of charter holiday flights to European destinations. Recreationally, there is good fishing nearby with golf at Traigh which is a pretty nine hole course, between The Larch House and Arisaig. There is much to see and do in the area. Highlights include Loch Morar, the deepest fresh water loch in Scotland; the Glenfinnan Monument, marking the place where Bonnie Prince Charlie raised his standard in 1745 and the Glenfinnan Viaduct where the flying car scene from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was filmed; the famous West Highland Line itself, linking Mallaig and Fort William, one of the great railway journeys of the world, on which the Jacobite steam train operates in summer.

4 Description The Larch House is a contemporary detached villa on one level completed by the present owners in 2011 to a high standard. It is built under a slate roof with solar and photovoltaic panels and underfloor heating, making it a particularly energy efficient home. There are grounds of approximately 15 acres including amenity/recreational woodland. The Larch House overlooks the famous Camusdarach beaches which were used in the filming of Bill Forsyth s classic film Local Hero. The beaches were also used as a location in the film Breaking the Waves and two BBC TV series, Hamish Macbeth and Monarch of the Glen. They are superb white sandy beaches with substantial sand dunes and are renowned for the wonderful sunsets over Skye and the Small Isles. They featured in the Daily Telegraph as one of ten British coastal highlights (July 18, 2010), described as a... sublime white-sand beach... with views over azure waters to Skye (that) take your breath away. The accommodation comprises from the rear of the house the reception hallway with access to the sitting room / dining room / kitchen to the front. This open plan living space with its vaulted double height ceiling and velux windows with panoramic views over Eigg and Rum, has a wood burning stove, room for dining and the kitchen has floor and wall units with contrasting work top, central island Open Space oven and hob and door to the side. From the sitting room is access to the inner hallway with two bedrooms and modern wet room. Also from the sitting room is a study area giving access to a further bedroom, the music room, family bathroom and utility room. Gardens The immediate garden around the house is enclosed and is mainly laid to grass with shrubs and borders and includes gravelled parking adjacent to the house with space for several vehicles. Outbuilding including; Open fronted garage, potting shed, large steel framed shed and a polytunnel.
