2 To any scout who may wish to come: The Spring Camporee this year will be held at camp Famous Eagle and the Camporee Field at S-F scout ranch. This will be a very water-sport-intensive outing, so make sure to bring a swimming suit, a towel, and sunblock. Troops will camp in designated areas as directed by District Staff upon arrival. Please be respectful to the troops around you by not taking more space than you need. Camping will become available starting at 5:00 pm on Friday the 26th. The Dress Code for Flag Ceremonies and Religious Services will be Full Class A. That consists of a Scout uniform shirt, shorts, belt, socks, and brown or black shoes/boots. Please also be prepared for inclement weather, as the program will go on as planned unless conditions become unsafe. There will be multiple water-themed activities available at the camporee. Make sure you know when and where they are so you aren t caught unaware in Class A when you should be in a swimming suit. The only materials you will need to participate is a fishing pole and fishing gear, if you intend to fish on the outing. We will also be holding some competitions on scoutcraft, (knot tying, orienteering, etc.) so it may be a good idea to make sure your scouts know the skills. Other than those things, you won t need any materials or pre-planning to complete them. All activities will be available in the schedule and will be made know again at Friday night s cracker barrel. All units should remain together during their time at the Camporee and for all activities. Each scout that wishes to participate in the aquatic activities held at the camporee will be required to submit a waiver signed by both the scout and a parent stating that they are a strong swimmer, and of the swimmer class. There are, of course, a few costs associated with such an outing; you will need to pay a total of $ per scout and $ per adult for food and other necessities, such as hiring staff. 3 Rules and Regulations: Camp Code - The Scout Oath and Law will be your law for the weekend. Roster - The Troop roster form, enclosed in this manual, (NOTE TO SELF DO THAT!) must be completed and turned in at HQ on Friday during Check-In Ground Fires Ground Fires are not permitted. Pits are not allowed to be dug anywhere in camp. Generators Generators are not allowed. Cooking Fuel Units may use either charcoal (on grills remember not to damage the ground) or pressurized fuels at their leisure. Pressurized Fuels The use of pressurized fuels is allowed but must be in accordance with current council policy. Tent Ditching Digging ditches around tents is strictly prohibited. Garbage A dumpster will be provided at camp. Each unit must take their trash to the dumpster before they will be allowed to check out of camp on Sunday. Tobacco Tobacco products are strictly prohibited in the camp. Violators will be asked to leave. Smoking is only allowed away from activity, camping, and parking areas. Alcohol & Drugs Alcoholic beverages and non-medically prescribed drugs will not be allowed at the Camporee and are not permitted at any Council activities. Fireworks & Firearms Fireworks and firearms are not permitted at the Camporee. Early Arrivals Those who are not on staff that arrive prior to on Friday will be asked to not set up camp or mark off space until then. Don t forget: setting up camp is part of the Unit s duties, not a select group of Scouts or adults. Parking Parking areas will be clearly marked. We ask that you park only in marked areas. Please carpool to allow enough parking for others. All are welcome- This event is open to all scouts in our district and their families. Non-scouting siblings and all packs will camp with host troops.

4 Camporee Program Activities: For Scouts: Boating on the waterfront Canoes Kayaks Stand-up paddleboards Motorboats Sailboats Fishing Test your skills and try to bring in the big one! The biggest fish caught by a cub scout, scout, and adult, will each win an award. Be sure to have your fish checked by staff to be in the running. The competition opens at 9 AM and runs until 3:15 PM. Shooting Sports Archery Shooting - Shoot at a fixed target with a bow and arrow. Shotgun Shooting (14 years of age and older) and Rifle Shooting- Each scout will be allowed 5 shots- additional shots can be purchased. Moving-Target Archery - Test your skills by shooting at a moving target with a bow and arrow *The top five shooters will be invited back to the range for a final round of shooting to find our top shots for each shooting sport. Boat Races With access to almost all of S-F s boats, we couldn t help but put some boat races in. Troops can compete in canoeing, kayaking, or sailing races to test their strength and boat handling abilities. Scoutcraft competitions Throughout the day, there will be an orienteering course for everyone to complete. The fastest group will win an award. Also, there is going to be multiple knot tying stations set up for scouts to practice knots, and participate in our Minute Man Challenge. Completing the Minute Man Challenge means that you have successfully tied six knots (square knot, bowline, sheet bend, clove hitch, two half hitches, and taut-line hitch) in under one minute. Anyone that completes the challenge will be acknowledged in the closing campfire. In addition, the fastest time for both cub scouts and scouts will win an

5 award. Other competitions relating to scoutcraft may also take place at the camporee as well. Field games in the Camporee Area There will be several field games held in the camporee area for anyone to join in. Camp-wide campfire in the Famous Eagle Council Ring Each troop will come up with a skit or song over the course of Saturday to present to the camporee at the campfire. Just to make sure everyone has a prepared skit, we ask that each troop/pack, at some point from 10:45-11:45 AM performs their skit for staff, that they will later perform for everyone at the campfire. The troop with the best skit, along with the pack with the best skit, will be rewarded with an award. This award, along with all of the other awards earned throughout the day, will be given out during the campfire. For Cub Scouts: Boating on the waterfront Canoes Motorboats Sailboats *Although cub scouts will be allowed to participate in the boating activities, they will be required to have a parent or adult with them at all times while they are doing so. There will also be, specific to cub scouts, a raingutter regatta, in which cub scouts will be invited to build their own miniature sailboat that they will then race through a rain gutter full of water. Camp-wide campfire in the Famous Eagle Council Ring Each troop will come up with a skit or song over the course of Saturday to present to the camporee at the campfire. Just to make sure everyone has a prepared skit, we ask that each troop/pack, at some point from 10:45-11:45 AM performs their skit for staff, that they will later perform for everyone at the campfire. The troop with the best skit, along with the pack with the best skit, will be rewarded with an award. This award, along with all of the other awards earned throughout the day, will be given out during the campfire. For Adults: Camp-wide tour of the S-F Scout Ranch Camp Staff will be conducting a camp-wide tour of the entire S-F Scout Ranch. Any adult leaders, parents, or anyone else that would like to take part in this, are encouraged to do so. Water Carnival/Beach Party: This event is for everyone. This is the main event of the whole camporee, so from 4-6 PM, this will be the only event open. The event will consist of several competitions/games/events taking place all throughout the aquatics area. In each event, troops/packs will accumulate points, and in the end, only one troop/pack can be victorious!

7 Camporee Schedule: *Camp-wide Tour is all day Saturday Friday, April 26 5:00 PM- Camp open for unit check-in- Follow staff direction upon arrival. 10:00 PM- Cracker-Barrel for SPL s, SM s, and Staff. 11:00 PM- Lights out. Saturday, April 27 6:30 AM- Reveille 7:00 AM- Flags 7:15 AM- Hot breakfast/cleanup 9:00 AM- Activities begin 10:45-11:45 AM- Troops perform one skit for staff at any point during this one hour period that they will later perform at the closing campfire. (Every troop must supply one skit, and that skit must be pre-approved by staff during this time) 11:45 AM- Activities halt 12:00 PM- Lunch 12:45 PM- Aquatics open, along with field games and shooting sports 2:30 PM- Shooting sports are closed to scouts; finalists are invited back for the top shot competition. 3:15 PM- All activities halt 4:00-6:00 PM- Water Carnival! 6:00 PM- Dinner 7:30 PM- Religious services 8:15 PM- Flags 8:30 PM- Closing campfire/awards-- Each troop will need to supply a skit 10:30 PM- Cracker Barrel for SPL s, SM s, and Staff 11:00 PM- Lights out Sunday, April 28 7:00 AM- Reveille 7-8:45 AM- Breakfast and cleanup 8:45 AM- Begin Checkout 11:00 AM- Everyone is checked out-- staff breaks camp and final cleanup
