3 Welcome Welcome to this year s 2016 Spring Camporee, Spirit of Scouting! Hello, my name is Jon Gentle and I will be your Campmaster at this exciting event. This Camporee is unlike past Camporee s because it will be staffed by you! This Camporee has been made available to all members of the Boone Trails District so get excited to see some unfamiliar faces! The goal of this Camporee is to be different than what we are used to so that some older boys can be experience something new. The theme is extremely important to this event. The idea is that everyone should be trying to show as much Scout Spirit as possible. This is not something that I can define for you, I would like you to show what Scout Spirit means to you. This manual should contain all of the information you might have questions about, if not please contact me as listed on the next page. 3

5 Camp Regulations & Emergencies 1) The Scout Law, Oath, Motto, and Slogan are always in affect while scouting. 2) Absolutely no alcohol, fireworks, or firearms, will be permitted on the premises by any participant. Smoking is not allowed at any time on camporee grounds, if you must smoke please go to an area out outside of the event. 3) The scout uniform should be worn by all scouts and leaders during the camporee. We ask that you wear your field uniform during flag ceremonies and church services. Your activity uniform may be worn at all other times. 4) All troops and packs must maintain two-deep leadership the entire weekend. 5) We will use the buddy system. This is the standard practice at campouts and Boy Scout events. No scout should be without a buddy if outside his campsite. 6) Assigned campsite sizes will be based upon the number of individuals included in your registration. 7) All Troops must check in their scouts, Webelos, leaders, and adults when arriving and check-out before leaving. 8) All units must bring health forms with parts A & B filled out for each participant (Webelos, scouts, leaders, and adults). These must be available at check-in and retained on file with the unit at the campsite. Basic first aid situations should be handled by unit leaders at their campsite. If an emergency situation arises, please notify Staff at HQ immediately. 9) In the event of severe weather or fire hazard, staff will instruct units on what to do. 10) All units must adhere to parking regulations. A clear access for emergency vehicles must be maintained at all times. 5

6 Registration The fee for registration is $9 through May 13 where it then becomes $11. Registration will be closed May 18 11:59pm. After this time you will have to register on site for the same $11. This fee includes patch, awards, and program materials. The electronic registration form and manual can be found on the Boone Trails District Camping web page. In order for troops to be entered into the merit badge lottery they must complete and submit a registration form to council by May 18 Any troop not registered by May 18 will have to wait until they arrive at camp on Friday night to see what spots might still be open. There is a registration form and roster for both troops and packs. Each unit roster is to be turned in at check-in on Friday Night. Webelos must camp with a troop and provide their own two-deep leadership, roster, health forms and payment. Any pack needing a troop to camp with should contact. 9 Competitions Competitions will be held throughout the day at all activities based upon the host s discretion. There will be a Top shot competition for all ranges. There will be a Gateway competition based upon creativity. There will be a Dutch Oven Cook-Off based upon taste and originality. Venturing We have invited the Venturing scouts to be a part of the camporee this year. The Venturing scouts will be displaying information about their areas of specialty. This will give the boy scouts not in Venturing exposure to exciting programs and promote Venturing as a whole. It will also allow the Webelos to see that older boys are continuing to have interest in scouting. Campfire Campfire this year will be led by the Troop OA reps. This means that reps will be helping build and put on the campfire. Make sure that your OA rep knows about this program and that he can contact Jack Mclain to answer any questions. Religious Services Catholic services will be led by Council, located at the Council Ring Protestant services will be led by Mr. Fountain 9

10 Merit Badges Geocaching will have room for 20 participants. Woodworking Merit badge will have a morning and afternoon session. There is room for 20 at each. 10
