2 Welcome Families, Cub Family Weekend at Rodney Scout Reservation is fast approaching. In this guide you should find all the answers to your questions. But if you don t, please let us know and we will get them answered. Contact Mandy Martensen at for any program related questions. There will be something for everyone. During the weekend you will be able to participate in advancements for each rank, BB shooting, archery, bounce houses and fishing. Please remember to remind families that while this is family camping that all activities are geared toward Cub Scouts and we ask that you allow them to go first. As well as this is a Scouting event on Scouting property, please leave all alcohol at home and there is no smoking, vaping or smokeless tobacco within sight or smell of Scouts. WEEKEND INFORMATION: (A FEW THINGS WE THINK YOU SHOULD KNOW) Camping: Each unit is responsible for bringing their own tents & sleeping gear. We also ask that you keep the safety and discipline of your scout at the forefront. All families from your unit will be in the same campsite, please make sure that they put in the correct Pack number at the time of registration to make this process easier. Check in: Check in will be at Sampson Lodge at the edge of the parking lot on the left. Please have your group meet in the parking lot and send only 1 leader into Sampson to check in. Upon entering Rodney Scout Reservation, please follow signs to the parking lot. Here you will receive your campsite information and t shirts. Council Staff will be on hand all weekend to answer any questions you may have. Parking is at a premium so please carpool. Check in times: Friday Evening: Friday October 7 th 6pm 8pm (No arrivals after 8pm please) Cub Family Weekend: Saturday October 10 th 8:am 10:00am (Please check in and go straight to program and set up your tents during lunch or after afternoon program. Opening Ceremony: Saturday at 9am on the Parade Field by the Flag Pole. Activities: All scouts will be able to participate in adventures. Punch cards will be given at check in for each rank. It is the scout s responsibility to hand these cards over to the advancement person in their pack for credit.

3 Webelos: All Webelos will be participating in the WEB Mazing Race see flyer on last page. This is a morning only event and will begin promptly at 9:30. Please plan accordingly. Tiger: Sky is the Limit Through the Sky is the Limit adventure, Tigers will learn more about the universe around them. The Adventure covers topics related to astronomy and space exploration. Wolf: Digging into the Past In Digging into the Past, Wolves get a taste of the work of an archaeologist. They will work on a simulated archaeological dig site, and learn about dinosaurs and fossils. Bear: Super Science Bears will conduct several hands on science experiments, with exploration into static electricity, buoyancy, and colors. Rocket Launching: Will be taking place most of the day on the Parade Field *Also there will be opportunities in BB, Archery, Candle Making, Bounce house and more. First Aid: Rodney will have a health officer located in the Main Office for any first aid needs. Please make sure you have a completed and updated health form for each person attending. Health forms can be found on the Council website at: Campfire: There will be a large campfire on Saturday night which we encourage all to attend. Please fill out a skit/song submission form for your den/pack to participate at the campfire. This can be found at the end of this guide. Submit forms to a staff member/volunteer in Sampson Lodge by lunch on Saturday. Fire: If you wish to have a campfire in your campsite, please make sure that an adult is watching it at all times and that the fire is full out and cold before you leave. Fires should be confined to established fire rings. Alcohol & Tobacco: No alcohol is permitted on camp property. Please inform your parents accordingly. It is the policy of the Boy Scouts of America that use of tobacco products, including e cigarettes/vaporizers, must be done out of view of youth. Food: All food will be provided for the weekend. Please bring a water bottle to use throughout the weekend. Please inform us ahead of time if there are any special dietary needs/restrictions. Please the Special Dietary Needs form to rscafidi@dmvc.org Trash: Please carry out all trash. Religious Services: There will be a non denominational Service Sunday Morning before breakfast.

4 Trading Post: will be located at the main trading post, we will have a hayride that will take you up there. Fishing: Bring your gear and you can fish at the boatyard. Remember to catch and release. HOPE TO SEE EVERYONE AT RODNEY! Directions to RODNEY SCOUT RESERVATION: Rodney Scout Reservation is just a short distance off of I 95. At the North East Exit take you will be on Rt. 272 Take that to Red Point Rd. and turn right Then a quick left on Arrants Rd. and Rodney is on the Right. It is about 2 miles from the Rodney Entrance sign to the parking lot.

6 Campfire Cheer, Skit, or Song Submission Form Each Pack/Den is encouraged to participate in the Saturday Campfire. The more submissions we get, the better the campfire program. Staff will review all of the submissions and choose from them to create an awesome event. All submissions should adhere to the Guide to Safe Scouting and be clean in nature. 7 Web Mazing Race Webelos Event Only Meet at Sampson Lodge Begins at 9:30am (please plan accordingly) This event is only for Webelos, Adults can go with their Den, but cannot help. A Boy Scout may join the den, but can only take the boys through the activities. All the boys need to bring is a water bottle. Things they will be asked to do will come straight from the Webelos Book. They can include, but not limited to the following: Fire Building Knot tying Plant identification Tree Identification First Aid Tent Set up Webelos will be making their own lunch (food provided)
