Tim Plyer responded on a domestic violence case where a boyfriend had struck the victim in the head with a vacuum cleaner. The suspect, who has been involved in previous domestic violence cases, and lives on the 500 block of Gates, was arrested on felony assault and criminal threats charges. Case # /01/07 5:35 am First block of Peralta Officers Michael Brown, Robin Odum, Chris Anderson and Robert Toomey responded to a fight where a suspect had broken into a friend's residence. The officers located the suspect who was verbally abusive with the officers. The officers attempted to arrest the suspect who started to violently resist and attempted to strike one of the officers. He was subdued and booked on a multitude of charges. Case # /01/07 8:06 am Madrid and France Officer William McCarthy stopped a vehicle for irregular registration. The driver, who lives on the 700 block of Brazil, was driving with a suspended license and was uninsured. He was cited and his 1979 Chevrolet was towed. Case # /01/07 10:25 am Ingleside Station 1
2 A resident of Pacifica turned himself in at Ingleside Station to Officer Wendy Bear for a warrant charging driving with a suspended license. Case # /01/07 1:10 pm Mission and Geneva Officer Jude Rand stopped a vehicle for failing to yield to a pedestrian. The driver, who lives on the first block of Santa Rosa, was driving with a suspended license and was uninsured. He was also wanted on a warrant for the same thing. His 1989 Toyota was towed. Case # /01/07 3:16 pm Russia and Mission Officer Amy Hurwitz observed a car parked a significant away from the curb with a six month old infant alone in the car with no child seat. Next to the car were two individuals who were on active parole. The driver was nearby and walked into a store. The officer was joined by Officers Ignacio Martinez and Benjamin Santana. The officers conducted a comprehensive investigation and found that the driver, who lives in Petaluma, was on probation, was in possession of suspected methamphetamine and paraphernalia and was also wanted by the Sonoma County Sheriff on a no bail narcotics warrant. A second suspect, who lives in Pacifica, was booked on a restraining order violation. This is typical police work for Officer Hurwitz, spotting something innocuous as a vehicle parked away from the curb and upon investigation making good arrests and providing for the safety of an infant. Young Lane San Francisco, Ca Telephone There will be a Bernal Heights Crime/Safety Meeting at 515 Cortland on Wednesday, January 17, 2006 from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm. Childcare will be provided. ARRESTS: 01/02/07 1:04 am Harrison and Precita Officers Melonee Alvarez and Shawn Phillips observed a vehicle with expired registration. They stopped the vehicle and found that the driver was on parole as well as on probation from San Mateo County. A subsequent investigation revealed a quantity of narcotics on his person, including methamphetamine and crack cocaine. The resident of Tomaso Court was arrested on narcotics and parole charges. Case # /02/07 8:55 am First block of Phelan City College Police stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The driver, who lives on the 2100 block of Ocean, was unlicensed. He also had a warrant from San Mateo County for possessing false documents. The suspect was arrested and his 1980 Honda was towed. Case # /02/07 11:59 am 400 block of Arlington Officer Rich Morgante stopped a suspicious vehicle and found that an occupant, who lives on the 1500 block of 6th Avenue, was wanted on a probation and narcotics warrant from Daly City. Case # /02/07 5:00 pm Virgina and Coleridge Officer Amy Hurwitz stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The driver, a resident of Pacfica, was operating the vehicle without his driver license and was in possession of marijuana. A passenger, who lives on the first block of Virginia, was wanted on a drug warrant. Case #
5 01/02/07 5:00 pm 3350 Mission Officers Shawn Phillips, Melonee Alvarez, Kevin Horan and Wayman Young went to Safeway and arrested a suspect with no permanent local address for felony theft and a warrant for the same thing. Case # /02/07 7:00 pm Sunnydale and Persia Officers Renee Pagano and Joan Cronin observed a vehicle stopped at a stop sign with the turn signal going. They waited a period of time but the vehicle did not move. When they approached the vehicle they saw that a grossly intoxicated driver was asleep. The resident of the 300 block of Edinburgh was arrested for driving under the influence and being unlicensed. Case # /02/07 8:04 pm 5000 block of Mission Officers Michael Murphy and Andrea Callahane were on foot patrol when they spotted a suspicious person at the Amazon Hotel. They stopped to investigate and found that the suspect was on probation. A warrant check revealed the resident of San Bruno had a no bail narcotics warrant from Daly City, two more narcotics warrants from South San Francisco and San Bruno and was in possession of methamphetamine. Young Lane San Francisco, Ca Telephone ROBBERY ALERT IN BERNAL: Due to recent robberies of business establishments in the Bernal and OMI areas, we are asking folks to keep an eye out for a blue mini-van occupied by young African-American males with gloves and pullover sweatshirts. If you see a suspicious vehicle with suspects as described casing establishments or acting strangely near businesses, call us. We have also reallocated our footbeat from lower Mission to Cortland Avenue during the night time hours. ARRESTS: 01/03/07 6:50 am Shelley and Mansell Officers William McCarthy and Herb Najarro were patrolling McLaren Park when they encountered two suspicious people in a vehicle. Upon further investigation, the driver was found to be in possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. The resident of Citrus Heights was cited. Case # /03/07 12:28 pm 600 block of Portola Officers James Trail, Mike Androvich and Val Altamirano cited a juvenile from Oakland for shoplifting. Case # /03/07 2:50 pm 2800 block of Diamond Officers Dan Gibbs, Gerald Thompson, Carla Lee and Andy Cox went to an address on the 2800 block of Diamond where a boyfriend had beaten his 7
8 girlfriend about the eye area causing injury. The suspect had accompanied the woman to a nearby store to get a piece of meat to put on the swelling of the eye. At the store the suspect threatened the storekeeper with violence for "looking at his girl". The suspect was arrested for domestic violence and threats. Case # /03/07 3:29 pm 400 block of Raymond Officer Frances Terry cited a juvenile resident of the 1600 block of Sunnydale for possession of an explosive device found at a school on the 400 block of Raymond. Case # /03/07 10:23 pm 5200 block of Diamond Heights Officers Kevin Lundy and Rommel Baldovino responded to assist a Patrol Special Officer on the 5200 block of Diamond Heights. The Patrol Special Officer had detained a missing juvenile from Oakland who was in posssession of an air rifle. The suspect was cited and turned over to his father. Case # /03/07 11:00 pm Geneva and Moscow Officer Joan Cronin stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The driver, who lives in Castro Valley, was unlicensed. He was cited and his 1995 Honda was towed. Young Lane San Francisco, Ca Telephone ARRESTS: 01/04/07 12:45 am Bosworth and Lippard Officer Craig Tiffe stopped a vehicle for a stop sign violation. The driver, who lives in Suisun City, was driving with a suspended license. He was cited and his 1992 Buick was towed. Case # /04/07 12:16 pm 500 block of Alemany Officers Josh Kumli, Dan Gibbs, Andy Cox and Kirk Yin were working in the Alemany Public Housing monitoring drug selling activity. They spotted a known drug seller, who has three prior felony convictions engage in a drug sale with a person who pulled up in a vehicle. The officers took the suspect, who gave an address on Carr street, into custody and arrested him for sales of cocaine and marijuana. The buyer, who lives in Pacifica, was arrested for possession of narcotics. Case # /04/07 1:42 pm 500 block of Alemany Officers Robin Odum, Ignacio Martinez and Anthony LaRocca observed a vehicle parked on the sidewalk adjacent to the Alemany Public Housing with a person nearby acting suspiciously. The officers stopped and found that a resident of Richmond was wanted on a driving with a suspended license warrant and was in possession of narcotics paraphernalia. Case # /04/07 3:00 pm 400 block of Raymond Officer Frances Terry, School Resource Officer on the 400 block of Raymond, admonished two juveniles for possessing illegal knives at their residence on Nichols Way. Young Lane San Francisco, Ca Telephone ARRESTS: 01/05/07 3:00 pm Mission and Randall Officer Val Altamirano stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The driver, who lives on the 2000 block of Quesada, was unlicensed and uninsured. He was cited and his 2000 Chrysler was towed. Case # /05/07 7:00 pm Coleridge and Cortland Sgt. Hector Jusino stopped a vehicle for a registration violation. The driver, who lives on the 3400 block of Mission, was driving with a suspended license. He was cited and his 1988 Toyota was towed. Case # /05/07 10:06 pm Fair and Coleridge Officers Rommel Baldovino, Yvette Poindexter, Michael Brown, Robin Odum responded to a call of an auto burglary at Fair and Coleridge. When the officers arrived they encountered two suspects but were unable to locate a victim of an auto burglary. A search of one suspect revealed a large quantity of methamphetamine and marijuana. The suspect, who lives on the 2800 block of Cesar Chavez, was also wanted on a driving with a suspended license warrant. The second suspect, who lives on the 200 block of Elsie, was also in possession of a large quantity of drugs and packaging material. Case # /05/07 11:15 pm Santos and Blythdale Officer Mark Monpas stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The driver, who lives on Westbrook, was driving with a suspended license. He was cited and his 1989 Chevrolet was towed. Case #
14 CRIMINAL INCIDENTS: 01/05/07 5:00 am 900 block of Holyoke Officers Julian Hermosura, Mark Monpas, Harry Soulette and Joseph Kavanagh responded to the 900 block of Holyoke to back up the San Francisco Fire Department on a fire engulfing a vehicle in front of the residence. The officers found an entry to the residence to be unlocked and dry blood leading to the residence. A computer query of the vehicle on fire determined that it had been reported stolen. The officers conducted a comprehensive investigation in consultation with Inspector Richard Van Koll of the Auto Detail and determined that the premises could well be a "chop shop", meaning a location where vehicles that are stolen are dismantled and sold for profit. The officers located two other vehicles on the premises that had been reported stolen, found numerous car parts and identified a possible suspect. The investigation is continuing.
