The driver, who lives on the 1400 block of 39th Avenue, was driving with a suspended license and was uninsured. He was cited and his 1999 Mazda was towed. Case # /23/08 9:45 am 900 block of Plymouth Officers Arline Gilmore and Vincent Masilang stopped a vehicle for a seatbelt violation. The driver was on probation and a search revealed suspected methamphetamine. He was also driving with a suspended license. The resident of Daly City was arrested and his 1993 Dodge was towed. Case # /23/08 2:00 pm Plymouth and Sadowa Officer Duane Elzey stopped a vehicle as he knew the driver was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. The resident of the 100 block of Bright was cited and his 2001 VW was towed. Case # /23/08 3:00 pm Broad and Capitol Officers Gregory Pak and Thomas Lee stopped a wanted person and arrested the resident of Sadowa for a narcotics warrant. Case # /23/08 7:30 pm 100 block of Montana Officers Joe Chang and Azarias Castro went to an address on Montana where a man had thrown a woman down a flight of stairs. 4 Officers Gregg Gotelli, Duane Elzey and Jose Guardado observed a suspicious person peeking in and out of a laundromat where narcotics had been sold previously. The stopped the person and found that he had a warrant for burglary and felony theft. He has no local address. Case # /24/08 4:45 pm 19th and Winston Officers Kujath and Meyer stopped a person who was aggressively soliciting alms. He was also in possession of narcotics paraphernalia. The non-local resident was cited and released. Case # /24/08 2:16 am 14th and Judah Officers Anthony Calasanz, Dana Terry and Christopher Servat responded to a call of a person screaming. They located a resident of Ocean Avenue and arrested him on a reckless driving warrant. Robert Bohanan investigated a road rage incident where a suspect had gotten into an altercation with a victim and attacked him about the face, causing an injury to one of his eyes. The officers tracked the suspect down to the 300 block of Chester and arrested him for felony assault. 11 Officer Stanley Lee stopped a driver for an equipment violation. The driver, who lives on the 3600 block of Taraval, was unlicensed. He was cited and his 1987 Chevrolet was towed. Case # /26/08 11:48 pm 1300 block of 9th Avenue Officers Kevin O'Leary and Daniel Kroos admonished a man sleeping in a doorway. He was found to have 13 misdemeanor warrants for his arrest. He has no local permanent address. Trivia Question: In 1975 State Senator George Moscone narrowly defeated West Portal businessman and Supervisor John Barbagelata in a runoff for Mayor. There were three major candidates who finished 3,4,and 5 in the General Election. Who were they? 3. West Portal residents have been concerned with teens who drink alochol and loiter in the evening hours at the West Portal playground. Night Lieutenants John Feeney and Michael Caplan have formulated a plan for frequent passing calls and enforcement. You will see this situation abated. 11

12 4. Neighbors have seen an increase in loitering, drug dealing, reckless driving and related issues with students and non-students around Lincoln High School. The Taraval Neighborhood Team led by Sgt. Robert Padrones will be quite visible around the school in the coming days. Also, solo motorcycle officers Larry Chan and Regina Berrigan will be conducting strict traffic enforcement in the area. 5. One of the most significant eyesores in our district is the abandoned and boarded up house at th Avenue complete with a graffit strewn inoperable vehicle in the front yard. Officer Mary Burns is working with Deputy City Attorney Jerry Threet to abate this nuisance. A full inspection will take place in mid-march. ARRESTS: 02/27/08 6:07 pm 200 block of Winston Officer Saqib Aslam went to Nordstrom and met with security there who had detained a shoplifter for burglary. The suspect was also wanted on two drug warrants from the San Mateo County Sheriff. He resides in Daly City. Case # /27/08 6:07 pm Portola and 15th Avenue Officers Daniel Kroos and Kevin O'Leary stopped a vehicle for a seat belt violation. The driver, who lives on the 800 block of Grafton, was driving with a suspended license and had irregular registration. He was cited and his 1990 Ford was towed. Case # /27/08 8:42 pm 3400 block of 19th Avenue Officers Leroy Thomas and Alan Lamb stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver, who lives on the 400 block of 5th Avenue, was unlicensed. 15 The Lakeside Property Owners' Association meets Sunday, March 2, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Mercy High School. Officer Mary Burns of Taraval Police Station will be honored by the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 for her community service. Traffic Enforcement is an important part of the duties of officers assigned to the Taraval Police Station. There are ten (10) district police stations in San Francisco. In October, November and December Taraval was #5 and #6 of the stations in the number of moving traffic citations issued. In January we were #3 of the stations. Congratulations to the officers and the supervisors who are enhancing vehicular and pedestrian safety for the community that we serve. ARRESTS: 02/28/08 1:49 am Alemany and Brotherhood Officers Christopher Servat and Peterkent DeJesus responded to a traffic collision where a driver had run a red light and hit a muni bus. The driver, who lives on the first block of Stratford, was heavily intoxicated. San Francisco State University officer Dinneen assisted in the investigation. The suspect's chemical test revealed twice the legal limit. She was arrested for driving under the influence. Case # /28/08 2:59 am 2400 block of 19th Avenue Sgt. Jody Kato observed a driver make a u-turn, cross over three lanes of traffic and then drive over the median. He stopped the driver and found that she was heavily intoxicated. She failed field and chemical tests. The driver, who lives in Mountain View, was arrested for driving under the influence. Case # /28/08 10:58 am Brighton and Holloway Officers Ronald Choy and Jose Guardado were on patrol at Brighton and Holloway in response to community complaints of drug use and dealing. They spotted a suspicious person loitering at a laundromat. They stopped to investigate and found him in possession of suspected crack cocaine. The resident of the 1000 block of Capitol was arrested. 16 02/28/08 11:20 am 200 block of Holloway Officerts Gregg Gotelli and Duane Elzey were on patrol when they observed a suspect walking down the street flicking open and shut a switchblade knife. They stopped the resident of the 1400 block of Phelps and cited him. Case # /28/08 3:00 pm 39th and Noriega Officers Ronald Choy and Jose Guardado were working plainclothes and received a request from authorities of Giannini Middle School to stop blatant drug sales and loitering near the school by outsiders. The officers conducted surveillance and observed a suspect obviously selling drugs from a vehicle. They stopped the suspect, located marijuana packaged for sale in his vehicle, and then went to his address on the 2100 block of 24th Avenue and found more evidence of marijuana sales. The suspect was arrested on a multitude of charges. Case # /28/08 3:15 pm 14th and Irving Officer Larry Chan stopped a vehicle for a registration violation. The driver, who lives on the 800 block of 27th Avenue, was driving with a suspended license. He was cited and his 1986 Toyota was towed. Case # /28/08 3:30 pm Zoo Road Officers Joe Chang and Nathaniel Manalang went to the San Francisco Zoo on a complaint from the authorities there that two people were throwing objects at a rhinoceros. One suspect was detained and released. The other, who has no permanent local address, was cited for throwing objects at an endangered animal. Case # /28/08 4:15 pm 1500 block of Sloat Officers Vincent Masilang and Buddy Siguido went to Lucky's Supermarket and cited a resident of the 900 block of Font for shoplifting a beverage. Case # /28/08 8:03 pm 12th and Kirkham Officers Dean Lee, Thomas Chu and Tri Hoang responded to 12th and Kirkham on a report of a man driving a vehicle drunk and weaving all over the road. Officer Thomas Chu located the 16

17 driver and vehicle. The man was heavily drunk so the resident of Santa Clara was arrested for driving under the influence. 18 Commanding Officer Taraval Police Station th Av San Francisco, Ca Telephone (415) The answer to last week's trvia question as to whom finished #3, #4 and #5 after George Moscone and John Barbagelata in the 1975 Mayor's Race was: Dianne Feinstein, Jack Ertola and Milton Marks. ARRESTS: 02/29/08 3:06 pm 600 block of 48th Avenue Officers Duane Elzey, Jose Guardado, Gregg Gotelli, Gregory Pak and Ronald Choy were working in plainclothes conducting an investigation into marijuana trafficking at Lincoln High School. They observed a vehicle with three occupants whom they knew were involved in the trafficking. They followed the vehicle from Holloway and Granada to the Haight Ashbury and then to an address in the Richmond District. The driver committed a vehicular violation and was stopped. The officers then located a large amount of marijuana. The suspects, who live on the 600 block of Taylor, the 300 block of Holloway and the 800 block of 35th Avenue, were arrested. Case # /29/08 3:08 pm 21st and Taraval Sgt. Robert Padrones was monitoring Lincoln High School students loitering near a library. A number of the students were wildly swinging sticks at each other. One suspect was detained by the sergeant and found to be in possession of an illegal knife and narcotics paraphernalia. The resident of the 200 block of 21st Avenue was cited. They located the suspect, who lives on the 1200 block of Oak, and arrested him for trespassing, malicious mischief and an arrest warrant for malicious mischief. Case # /29/08 9:47 pm 29th and Rivera Officer Vincent Masilang stopped a vehicle for a registration violation. The driver, who lives on the 300 block of Haight, was driving with a suspended license.
