Renee Pagano is the liaison from Taraval Police Station to the Greater West Portal Neigborhood Association and the Laguna Honda Neighborhood Association. ARRESTS: 12/27/08 2:12 am 19th Avenue and Judah Officers Esther Gonzalez and Patrice Scanlan saw a driver fail to stop at a stop sign and then go through a red light. They stopped the vehicle at 19th Avenue and Judah. The driver, who lives on the 1200 block of 25th Avenue was reeking of alcohol. She failed field and chemical sobriety tests and was arrested for drunk driving. Case # /27/08 11:04 am Judah and 25th Avenue Officers Neil Fanene was on patrol when he saw a suspect using a marker committing a graffiti offense on a seat at a bus shelter. The officer tried to stop the suspect but the suspect took off running. The officer chased the suspect and arrested him a few blocks away. The suspect, who lives on Trumbull, was cited for malicious mischief and resisting arrest. Case # /27/08 2:00 pm First block of West Portal Officer Kevin O'Leary, foot beat officer on West Portal, observed a miscreant urinating on a wall. The suspect, who lives on the 900 block of Mission, was arrested for the urination offense as well as a misdemeanor warrant for interfering with a police investigation. 2 Officers Scott Biggs and Chris Oshita were on patrol when they observed two suspects using markers committing graffiti offenses on a municipal railway bus shelter. The suspects, who live on the 2400 block of 15th Avenue and the first block of Kiska, were cited for malicious mischief and released to their parents. Case # /27/08 4:16 pm 19th Avenue and Taraval Officers Thomas Chu, Leroy Thomas and Simon Wong responded to a vehicle accident where one of the drivers was obviously intoxicated. The driver, who lives in San Anselmo, failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for drunk driving. Case # /27/08 6:24 pm Moraga and 18th Avenue Officers Chris Oshita, Scott Biggs, Buddy Siguido and Peter Hamilton stopped a vehicle being driven by a person that they knew was driving with a suspended license. The suspect, who lives on the 2000 block of Scott, was in possession of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and had an illegal weapon. The suspect was arrested on a multitude of charges. The Taraval Police Station mourns the passing of retired Sergeant Jack Farnham, who lived in the Sunset District. Sgt. Georgia Sawyer is the liaison from the Taraval Police Station to the Golden Gate Heights Neighborhood Association and the Lakewood Tenants' Association. ARRESTS: 12/28/08 1:20 pm 3200 block of 20th Avenue Officers Michael Ferraresi and Henry Ha went to Macy's where a shoplifter was being detained by security. The resident of Glenview was arrested for grand theft. Case #

4 12/28/08 2:30 pm 3200 block of 20th Avenue Officers Meaghan McMilton and Kevin O'Leary went to the Apple Store in Stonestown where security had detained a shoplifter. A resident of the first block of Lagunitas was cited for theft. Case # /28/08 5:20 pm 200 block of Miramar Officer Alan Levy went to the County Jail and placed a charge of criminal threats and felony assault on a suspect from the 200 block of Miramar from a previous incident. Case # /28/08 8:30 pm 20th Avenue and Kirkham Officer Michael Shugars stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The driver, who lives in San Jose, was unlicensed. He was cited and his 2004 Honda was towed. Case # /28/08 9:03 pm 15th Avenue and West Portal Officers Leroy Thomas and John Shanahan stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The driver was in possession of marijuana. The resident of the 100 block of Vasquez was cited. Case # /28/08 9:12 pm 100 block of Lobos Officers Peter Hamilton, Buddy Siguido, Anthony Calasanz and Dana Terry responded on a report of a man breaking into vehicles. They stopped the suspect, determined that there was no merit to auto breakins and then found that the man, who lives on the 400 block of Brazil, was wanted on two felony no bail warrants from Santa Clara County for assault and domestic violence. ARRESTS: 12/23/08 3:40 pm 1929 Ocean San Francisco Police Department Vice Crimes officers conducted an undercover operation at the Bronze Beauty Spa due to numerous complaints of prostitution activity. Two women at the premise solicited the 5

6 officers for an act of prostitution. The women, who live in Daly City and in San Jose were cited. Case # /29/08 1:37 pm 1300 block of 40th Avenue Officers Chris Oshita and Scott Biggs conducted surveillance on a house where a man was staying who had feloniously assaulted a victim on a previous day. The suspect walked outside and was arrested by the officers for felony assault and burglary. Case # /29/08 2:37 pm 3200 block of 20th Avenue Officers Henry Ha and Orit Samson went to Macy's where security was holding a shoplifter. The officers cited a resident of the 400 block of Arch for theft. Case # /29/08 3:35 pm 200 block of Minerva Officers Justin Erb, Gregg Gotelli and Ronald Choy stopped a vehicle for a registration violation and detected a strong aroma of marijuana. The resident of Milpitas was cited. Case # /29/08 10:52 pm 47th Avenue and Lincoln Way Officers Amanda Cordoba and Michael Evans encountered a vehicle being used for habitation in violation of the Municipal Police Code. The resident of Colorado was cited for that offense and his vehicle towed as it was unregistered for more than six months. ARRESTS: 12/23/08 4:45 pm 1400 block of Taraval For the past few weeks residents have complained to Taraval Station personnel and the Vice Crimes Division that Aroma Beauty commercial establishment at 1419 Taraval Street was a front for prostitution activity. The San Francisco Police Department's Vice Crimes Division formulated an operation at the establishment by sending in a plainclothes officer. The officer was solicited for an act of prostitution by an employee. The suspect, who lives on the 2100 block of 45th Avenue, was cited. Case # We are committed to eradicating houses of prostitution in the Taraval Police District, whether at phony businesses or in residences. Please contact us when you see suspicious activity. Many of these houses of prostitution involve human trafficking, degradation of women, traffic problems, rubbish and assorted blight. 12/30/08 2:09 am 21st Avenue and Santiago Officers Peterkent DeJesus and Jeffrey Fortuno observed a vehicle fail to stop for a posted stop sign and speed. They stopped the vehicle and found the driver had been drinking alcohol. The driver, who lives on the 1000 block of Sutter, failed field and chemical sobriety tests. He was arrested for drunk driving. Case # /30/08 2:22 am 19th Avenue and Holloway A female Municipal Railway driver came to the end of the line and noticed that a passenger was still asleep inside the vehicle. She directed the suspect to leave the bus, which he did by the rear door and then he reentered the front door and groped the driver's private parts, and then went to the back of the bus and went to sleep. Officers Michael Evans and Amanda Cordoba responded and confronted the suspect. The suspect, who lives on the 800 block of Hayes, violently resisted arrest, was subdued, and arrested for assault, public drunkeness and other charges. Case #

9 12/30/08 2:30 am 1300 block of 45th Avenue Officers Wayne Wong and Andrew Kavanagh went to an address on 45th Avenue where a drunken man had attacked his friend causing injuries to the victim's face. The suspect, who has no permanent local address, was arrested by the officers for felony assault, malicious mischief and resisting arrest. Case # /30/08 8:29 am Faxon and Holloway Officers Nelson Yu, Orit Samson, Henry Ha and Sgt. James Acevedo responded on a report of a suspicious person near a vehicle. After an investigation the officers determined that the person was in possession of a significant amount of suspected methamphetamine. The resident of the 1100 block of Capitol was arrested on drug charges. Case # /20/08 5:30 pm 3200 block of Taraval Officers Joe Chang and Brian Stansbury went to an address on the 3200 block of Taraval where an estranged couple had been arguing over financial matters. The man had struck the woman about the face and had disconnected the phone when she attempted to call the police. The officers arrested the suspect on multiple charges. Case # /30/08 8:40 pm Capitol and Broad Officer Justin Wong stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The driver, who lives on the 200 block of Capitol, was unlicensed and uninsured. He was cited and his 1987 Ford was towed. 11 ARRESTS: 12/31/08 12:15 am Irving and 10th Avenue Officers William Derro and Norman Lee responded to a hit and run accident where one driver had to chase down the suspect. When the officers encountered the suspect, they observed him to be intoxicated. The suspect, who lives on Crescent, failed both the field sobriety and chemical tests that were administered. He was arrested on drunk driving and hit and run charges. Case # /31/08 6:51 am 19th Avenue and Holloway Officer Michael Ferraresi stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The driver, who lives on the 600 block of 47th Avenue, was unlicensed. He was cited and his 1990 Honda was towed. Case # /31/08 7:39 am Randolph and Vernon Officer Joseph Everson stopped a vehicle for a registration violation. The driver, who lives on the 200 block of Thrift, was unlicensed. He was cited and his 1999 Nissan was towed. Case # /31/08 11:39 am 200 block of Winston Officers Joseph Everson and Michael Ferraresi went to Nordstrom where a man who lives in Florida had shoplifted numerous expensive items. The man was arrested for grand theft. He advised the officeras that he needed nice clothes for New Year's Eve and that his wife had previously burned all of his clothes. Case # /31/08 11:50 am 3200 block of 20th Avenue Officer James Drilon went to Macy's where security had stopped two teenagers who had taken security sensors from items and left the store without paying. The suspects, who live on the 200 block of Broad and the 1600 block of Sunnydale, were cited and released to their guardians. Case # /31/08 4:11 pm 19th Avenue and Santiago Officers Gregory Pak, Gregg Gotelli and Jose Guardado stopped a vehicle for a cell phone violation as well as fraudulent registration. The driver, who lives on the 5500 block of Geary, was cited and his 1997 Toyota was towed. Case # /31/08 8:33 pm 200 block of Miramar Officers Rolando Escobar and Adrian Payne went to the 200 block of Miramar where an estranged husband was trying to enter a residence in violation of a restraining order. 13 An off-duty San Francisco Police Officer from Richmond Police Station was driving home when he spotted two suspects with graffiti tools marking up a wall alongside commercial businesses. Officer Peterkent DeJesus and Sgt. Julian Ng responded to the scene and located the two suspects. One, from Salida, California, was cited, and the other, from Modesto, was arrested, both for malicious mischief. 01/01/09 4:10 am 3100 block of Vicente A relative arrived at a residence and became highly intoxicated from drinking alcohol. He then started examining a firearm and accidentially discharged the firearm thereby causing injuries to both of his legs. Officers Robert Hamblen and Tobius Moore charged the suspect with felony unlawful discharge of a firearm. The suspect resides on the 200 block of Brannan. Subsequently Sgt. Daniel Dedet and Officers Francis Feliciano and Joseph Everson went back to the residence and confiscated numerous rifles and ammunition. Case # /01/09 10:22 am 2200 block of Irving Officer Michael Mitchell cited a suspect with no permanent local address for soliciting alms near an ATM machine in violation of the San Francisco Municipal Police Code. Case # /01/09 5:46 pm Ulloa and West Portal Officers Matthew Seavey and Kevin Mannix stopped a suspicious person. They found that he was on probation with a search condition. The suspect, who lives on the 1600 block of 48th Avenue, was in possession of suspected methamphetamine and a burglar tool. He was arrested on a number of charges. Case # /01/09 7:35 pm Santiago and 19th Avenue Lieutenant Michael Caplan stopped a driver for speeding and fraudulent registration. Officers Ramesh Shangaran and Rex Calaunan assisted with the traffic stop. The driver, who lives on the 900 block of Silver, was cited and his motorcyle was towed. The Country Club Acres Neighborhood Watch has Inspector Milanda Moore of Taraval Police Station as their liaison. ARRESTS: 01/02/09 2:38 am 47th Avenue and Lawton Officers Paul Wilgus and Dennis Cravalho stopped a vehicle for erratic driving including speeding. They were joined by Officers David Almaguer and Allan Wong. The driver was obviously intoxicated. He failed both field and chemical sobriety tests and was driving his vehicle with a suspended license. The driver, who lives on the 1900 block of Irving, was arrested on a number of charges and his 2002 Mercedes was towed. Case # /02/09 2:44 am Brotherhood and Lake Merced A man was driving on Brotherhood when he struck a pedestrian control device thereby severely damaging his vehicle. The driver continued driving on Lake Merced Boulevard but his vehicle finally stopped moving. Officers Timothy Collins and Alan Lamb responded, investigated, and cited the resident of the 2700 block of 37th Avenue for leaving the scene of an accident. Case # /02/09 12:42 pm 19th Avenue and Junipero Serra Officers Kevin O'Leary, Meaghan McMilton and James Drilon investigated a case where a man and woman had been in a heated argument, the woman had chased the man with a hammer, had then gotten into a car and tried to run the man down and then had left in another car. Officer Drilon located the woman in the second car. The woman, who lives on the 1200 block of Pierce, was arrested on felony assault and other charges. Case # /02/09 2:35 pm 20th Avenue and Buckingham Officers Meghan McMilton and Kevin O'Leary met with San Francisco State University officers who had detained a suspect who was in a dispute with his girlfriend. The suspect, who lives on the 100 block of Webster, and was on probation with a search condition, was carrying a concealed knife. He was arrested on the weapon charge. 16 Officers Buddy Siguido and Peter Hamilton went to Macy's where a 15 year old had been using wire cutters to remove sensors from clothing and then stealing the items. The resident of the 700 block of Madrid was cited and released to his parent. Case # /02/09 5:14 pm 3200 block of 20th Avenue Officers Juanita Stockwell and Christina Pena went to a Stonestown Security office where a suspect was drunk. The suspect, who has no permanent local address, promised the officers that he would not drink "tomorrow". The suspect was arrested for public drunkeness and for a warrant for fraud from the Alameda Police Department. Case # /02/09 7:31 pm 46th Avenue and Judah Officers Kevin Mannix and Travis Pitcher observed a juvenile blocking the sidewalk. They contacted the young man and found that he was in possession of a switchblade knife. The resident of the 200 block of Harbor Road, was cited and released to his parent.
