1 Taraval Officers Speed to Scene and Arrest Suspect In Pistol Whipping and Shot Fired Case at 33rd Avenue and Taraval---See Below. Taraval Officers Chase Down and Arrest Serial Auto Thief In Oceanview-Merced-Ingleside Neighborhood---See Below. ARRESTS: 10/31/09 4:52 am 1100 block of Great Highway Officers Feliks Gasanyan and Neil Fanene were patrolling the lower Great Highway looking for auto burglars. They observed individuals who were acting suspiciously around a vehicle. When they stopped to investigate they were met by repeated obscenities from a drunken person. A struggle ensued as the suspect tried to assault the officers. Ultimately a resident of Aptos was arrested for public drunkeness, assault and resisting arrest. Case # /31/09 2:30 pm 200 block of Font Officers Jamie Hyun and Scott Biggs went to an address on the 200 block of Font knowing that a suspect there was wanted. The suspect was arrested on a driving with a suspended license warrant. Case # /31/09 8:24 pm First block of Broad 1

2 Officers Jamie Hyun and Scott Biggs observed two persons loitering in an area where narcotics is frequently sold and used. They stopped to investigate and saw one person throw suspected marijuana to the ground. The other suspect took off running down the street. The officers chased him for a number of blocks and finally captured him. That suspect, who lives in Daly City, was in possession of narcotics and was wanted on a juvenile warrant from San Mateo County. The other suspect, who lives on Thrift, was cited. Case # /31/09 9:50 pm 100 block of Taraval Officers Josh Fry, Richard Cibotti, Jennifer Orantes and Benny Lew responded on a report of a suspicious person who had rung a doorbell, asked to use the phone, was refused and then continued to peer into a window for a lengthy period of time. The officers obtained a description of the suspect with Officers Orantes and Cibotti locating him at Taraval and 14th Avenue. The resident of the 1200 block of 42nd Avenue was arrested for trespassing and for an arrest warrant for felony theft. Case # /01/09 1:44 am Taraval and 33rd Avenue Officers Michael Ferraresi and Andrew Kavanagh along with numerous other officers responded on a report of a shot fired. When the officers arrived they observed a lone suspect running on 33rd avenue to Ulloa. The officers yelled at the suspect to stop but he continued to flee. The officers chased him down and handcuffed him. A few feet from where the suspect was running the officers located a loaded and cocked semi-automatic handgun. The officers then located a woman nearby and her companion. The woman had been injured by a suspect who had struck her in the head with the butt of a semi-automatic handgun and then fired a shot at her. The incident had occurred rapidly after the woman had left a bar and was trying to get to her car but the suspect had apparently taken offense at the woman walking 2

3 close to his car, threatened to kill her, then assaulted her and fired the shot. The suspect the officers had captured was positively identified by the victim and witness. The suspect, who lives on the 100 block of Wayland, was arrested on numerous felony charges. This was excellent police work due in large part to the quick response of the officers to a crime in progress. Case # /01/09 11:56 am Ocean and Capitol Officer Ronald Choy stopped a driver for a license plate and registration violation. The driver, who lives on the 800 block of Capp street, was unlicensed. He was cited. Case # /01/09 5:56 pm 500 block of Grafton Officers Eric Tindall, Allen Mulliken, Scott Biggs and Jamie Hyun went to a residence on the 500 block of Grafton where a mentally disturbed woman had struck another party. The resident of West Portal was cited for battery and taken for mental health intervention. Case # /01/09 7:55 pm 100 block of Byxbee Officers Allen Mulliken and Eric Tindall went to an address on Byxbee where a man had thrown hot water at his cohabitee and struck her. The officers arrested the man for domestic violence. Case # /01/09 10:03 pm Randolph and Orizaba Officers Erik Maher and Daniel Taft responded on an unrelated robbery call. As they passed the 200 block of Broad they observed two men acting suspiciously near a vehicle. As the officers returned from the robbery call they attempted to stop the driver of the vehicle that they had observed. The driver did not stop but rather drove down Bright, to Sargent and then 3

4 dumped the vehicle on Orizaba and took off on foot. The officers chased the suspect to Minerva and captured him after a struggle. The officers then conducted an investigation and found that the vehicle was stolen and both license plates attached to the vehicle were fraudulent. They also located suspected cocaine in the vehicle. The suspect, who lives in Pacifica, is on felony probation, and has at least seven (7) prior arrests for auto theft. He was arrested on numerous charges. 7 Officer Timothy Whatley stopped a driver for a turn violation. The driver, who lives on the 900 block of Laguna, was unlicensed and uninsured. He was cited and his 1990 Honda was towed. Case # /02/09 10:06 am 1000 block of Holloway Officer Thomas Ly stopped a driver knowing the driver was unlicensed. The resident of the 1000 block of Holloway was cited. Case # /02/09 3:24 pm San Jose and Sadowa Officers Duane Elzey, Justin Erb and Gregory Pak stopped a driver for a turn violation. The driver, who lives on the 900 block of Ellsworth was in possession of marijuana packaged for sale and was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. She was arrested and her GMC vehicle was towed. Case # /02/09 3:44 pm Plymouth and Holloway Officers Jose Guardado, Ronald Choy and Juan Gala encountered two individuals who were suspected by residents of selling narcotics. The officers admonished the residents of Alviso and San Jose. Case # /02/09 6:05 pm 1500 block of Sloat Officers Juanita Stockwell and Patrice Scanlan went to Lucky' market and cited a resident of the 100 block of Ottawa for shoplifting. 8 11/02/09 8:33 pm 100 block of Thrift Officers Jose Guardado, Juan Gala and Ronald Choy stopped a driver for a registration violation. The driver, who lives on the 1300 block of Thomas, was driving with a suspended license and was uninsured. He was cited and his 1995 Ford was towed. ARRESTS: 11/03/09 10:50 am Brighton and Holloway Officer Thomas Ly stopped a driver for a license plate violation. The driver, who lives in South San Francisco, was driving with a suspended license and was uninsured. She was cited and her 1999 Ford was towed. Case # /03/09 2:45 pm 3200 block of 20th Avenue Officer Maria Donati went to the Stonestown Mall where security had detained a juvenile who was in possession of illegal fireworks, an air gun and narcotics paraphernalia. 13 Officer Daniel Owens stopped a driver for a license plate violation. The driver, who lives in Daly City, was driving with a suspended license. He was cited and his 2004 Toyota was towed. Case # /03/09 4:31 pm First block of West Portal Officers Thomas Chu, Justin Erb and Duane Elzey responded to the first block of West Portal where a pitbull had bitten a woman on the leg. The officers cited the owner, who lives on the 400 block of Shields, for a violation of the Health Code. Case # /03/09 5:05 pm Ocean and Lee Officers Robert Chew, Anthony Calasanz and Dana Terry responded to Ocean and Lee where a woman had struck and bit her boyfriend after a dispute. The officers arrested the resident of the 100 block of DeMontfort for domestic violence and threats as well as a misdemeanor warrant. Case # /03/09 6:49 pm Plymouth and Sagamore Officers Jose Guardado and Ronald Choy were on patrol when they entered a parking lot and saw a suspect known to them suddenly appear from behind a building. The suspect became startled when he saw the officers and took off across the street briskly walking away. The officers then observed him hide behind a wheel of a large truck and secrete some items. The officers caught up to the suspect and found that he had dropped various suspected narcotics including opiates and marijuana. The resident of the 400 block of Capitol was arrested. Case # /03/09 11:30 pm Southbound Highway 280 Off duty San Francisco Police Department Sergeant Jennifer Forrester stopped a driver who was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic. Officers Jeffrey Fortuno and Peterkent DeJesus assisted the sergeant. The driver, who lives in Daly City, failed field sobriety and chemical tests. 17 ARRESTS: 11/04/09 10:02 am Brighton and Ocean Officer Thomas Ly stopped a driver for an equipment violation. The driver, who lives on the 300 block of Holloway, was unlicensed. He was cited and released. Case # /04/09 12:06 pm 1800 block of Irving Officers Kevin Wong and Henry Ha investigated a possible credit card scam. During the course of the investigation they found that the suspect was wanted on a no bail arrest warrant for drunk driving and restraining order 17

18 violation from the Sonoma County Sheriff. The suspect, who lives on the 1200 block of 20th Avenue, was arrested. Case # /04/09 12:40 pm Ocean and Capitol Officer Michelle Spears stopped a driver for cell phone and stop sign violations. The driver, who lives on the 1500 block of Geneva, was cited and released. Case # /04/09 1:19 pm 1200 block of 26th Avenue Officers Ron Meyer and Maria Donati arrested an abusive and highly intoxicated suspect with no permanent local address. The suspect was charged with public drunkeness. Case # /04/09 2:35 pm 21st Avenue and Santiago Officers Michelle Spears and Lori Peltier stopped a driver for expired registration. The driver, who lives on the 400 block of Stratford, was driving with a suspended license and was uninsured. He was cited and his 2001 Chevrolet was towed. Case # /04/09 3:03 pm Howth and Josiah Officer Thomas Ly stopped a driver who was asleep at the wheel in the middle of an intersection. The driver, who lives on Majestic, was unlicensed. He was cited and released. Case # /04/09 4:20 pm Winston and 19th Avenue Officers Duane Elzey, Justin Erb and other Taraval officers were working a municipal railway fare evasion assignment. They boarded a train and located a suspect who had not paid his fare. The officers noticed that the suspect 18

19 smelled like he had marijuana on his person. A search revealed a large amount of marijuana. Also, the suspect, who resides in Turlock, was wanted by the Merced County Sheriff on a warrant for driving with a suspended license. He was arrested. Case # /04/09 8:35 pm Moraga and 45th Avenue Officers Jamie Hyun and Scott Biggs observed a man on a bicycle with no reflectors or lights. The man stopped near a known drug house and when he saw the officers he ducked behind a parked car. The officers conducted an investigation and found the man in possession of suspected methamphetamine and marijuana. The resident of the 1900 block of 47th avenue was arrested on four charges. Case # /04/09 11:25 pm 29th Avenue and Lincoln Officers Erik Maher and Daniel Taft stopped a vehicle as one of the passengers was hanging out of a window. The officers queried the occupants and found one, a resident of Hayward, was wanted on a drug warrant from the Alameda County Sheriff. They located the man and found that he had been drinking a a friend's house and was disoriented. The resident of the 700 block of Treat was cited for trespassing. Case # /05/09 8:10 am 1700 block of 19th Avenue Officer Ron Meyer stopped a driver for a registration violation. The driver, who lives in Redwood City, was unlicensed and uninsured. He was cited. 22 Officer Thomas Ly stopped a driver for an equipment violation. The driver, who lives on the first block of Minerva, was driving with a suspended license. He was cited and his 2000 Toyota was towed. Case # /05/09 10:16 am 2400 block of 40th Avenue Officers Jamie Hyun and Scott Biggs investigated a marijuana cultivation operation in a private residence on the 2400 block of 40th Avenue. They obtained a search warrant from the Superior Court and served the warrant at the location. They uncovered a large cultivation operation with two hundred plants. They also retrieved two semi-automatic handguns and ammunition. The suspect was arrested on a number of charges. Case # /05/09 11:03 am Lakeview and San Jose Officer Thomas Ly stopped a driver for an equipment violation. The driver, who lives on Tara Street, was driving with a suspended license. He was cited and his 1997 Hyundai was towed. Case # /05/09 2:30 pm 3200 block of 20th Avenue Officer Allen Mulliken went to Macy's where security had detained a shoplifter. The officer cited a resident of Daly City for theft. Case # /05/09 8:30 pm Ulloa and 24th Avenue A man was staying at a friend's house on Ulloa when he heard noises outside. He went out and saw a suspect smashing a helmet against side view mirrors of numerous cars. He confronted the suspect who was still continuing to damage vehicles. He grabbed the suspect and held him down until Officers Thu Vaing, Lydia Faidiga, Darren Wong and Nathaniel Manalang arrived. Officers Manalang and Wong took the suspect into 22

25 ARRESTS: 11/06/09 1:42 pm Randolph and Arch Officer Dean Lee stopped a driver for an equipment violation. The driver, who lives on the 6600 block of 3rd Street, was driving with a suspended license. He was cited and his 1988 Toyota was towed. Case # /06/09 6:00 pm 1300 block of 25th Avenue Officer Henry Ha cited a driver for blocking a ramp and for an equipment violation after a dispute with a market owner. The citee resides in Pacifica. Case # /07/09 2:54 am Sloat at 35th Avenue Officers Matthew Elseth and John Norment investigated a highly inebriated man who was moving construction cones. The officers noticed the man could not stand on his own. The resident of the 300 block of Arballo was arrested for public drunkeness and taken to Taraval Station to be released when sober. Case # /07/09 9:20 am 1200 block of 39th Avenue Officers Feliks Gasanyan and Joe Chang responded to an address on the 1200 block of 39th Avenue where a man had taken a hammer and smashed the tail lights and side mirrors on a vehicle that was parked inches into his driveway. The suspect admitted the crime and stated that he had thrown the hammer into Golden Gate Park. He was cited for malicious mischief. Case # /07/09 1:25 pm Noriega and Sunset 25

26 Officers John Laffey, Richard Austria, Joe Chang and Feliks Gasanyan responded on a report of a man striking a woman on a municipal railway bus and then leaving the scene. Officers Laffey and Austria located the man on 35th avenue and arrested the resident of the 1700 block of 41st Avenue for battery. Case # /07/09 2:27 pm Bright and Holloway Officers Duane Elzey, Gregg Gotelli and Justin Erb spotted a suspect known to them as under 21 years of age standing on the corner with a bottle of brandy. The resident of the 100 block of Lee was cited. Case # /07/09 5:50 pm 200 block of Broad Officer Allen Mulliken stopped a driver for driving over a double yellow line. The driver, who lives in Sacramento, was driving with a suspended license. He was cited and his 2004 Dodge was towed. Case # /07/09 8:11 pm Irving and 24th Avenue A man observed his cousin's vehicle, which had previously been reported stolen being driven on Irving Street near 24th avenue. The man called the police with a description of the vehicle. Officers Ronald Choy, Jose Guardado and Duane Elzey spotted the vehicle and stopped it nearby. The driver, who states he resides at 17th Street and Mission, was arrested for auto theft and possession of a burglar tool. Case # /07/09 11:49 pm Winston and Junipero Serra Officers Richard Cibotti and Jeffrey Fortuno saw a vehicle stopped in a traffic lane. When they approached they saw that the driver had been drinking an alcoholic beverage. The driver also had her 5 year old daughter in the front seat with no safety seat or seat belt.
