2 ABOUT OKTOBERFEST The sights, sounds and tastes of Germany are making their way to the Agricultural Heritage Park in Auburn! The Ninth Annual Oktoberfest will feature traditional German fare and beers from breweries across the U.S. The popular Homebrew Alley competition will also be returning with the chance for the winning brewer to have their homemade creation served on tap at Ariccia Trattoria (A T) and Piccolo at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center (AUHCC). Oktoberfest goers will get to choose from more than 150 beers from local craft breweries and national brand favorites. If beer isn t your drink of choice, a selection German wines will be up for sampling. Local food trucks will be in Food Truck Alley selling a variety of German fares, plus live music will be providing the tunes for the day and big screen TVs broadcasting college football games will be set up throughout the festival. Auburn University s Brewing Sciences Program will also be in action giving live educational demonstrations. Guests wearing their best lederhosen can compete for the title of Mr. & Miss Oktoberfest, and attendees can try their hands (literally!) at the Sam Adams Stein Hoisting Competition! In 2017, we saw a sellout crowd of 1,500. This year we expect closer to 2,000 festival goers to celebrate one of our favorite German pastimes. Along with the great food and brews, AUHCC is offering special VIP, Drink, & Be German and Designated Driver ticket packages to make the most of the event. Here, brewers are given the opportunity to showcase their craft to the festival goers! Competitors selected from the original applications will bring five gallons of their creation to have event-goers try and vote on their favorite. The Homebrew Alley winner will have their winning recipe created by an Alabama brewer as a one-off beer. Once it s produced, The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center will feature the winning beer selection on draft for a limited time during the fall season at A T. Prost!
