Please adjust your menu for lunch so it can be prepared and cleaned up in the time allotted. To assist with the lunch schedule on Saturday lunch will be provided. Lunch will be chili dogs, a side, a dessert, and drinks.
4 Punctuality - Please do your best to follow the schedule and be on time, especially for the evening service. We will do our best to do the same. During the evening service, camp will be closed to vehicle traffic. This is so we do not take away from the movement of the Spirit while we are entering into worship. Thank you for your cooperation! The Secret of the Lost Relic Indiana Rangerfest 2019 Events and Information Royal Rangers, welcome to the most rewarding treasure hunt of your life! During Rangerfest you will be competing in a three day long treasure hunt for the lost relic. Like any good treasure hunt you will need some training, some equipment, and some creativity to help you get around. You will be tested on your rifle range skills, your archery skills, some physical skills and plenty of mental challenges. As in any other treasure hunt you and your leaders will be tested time and time again to make you all ready for the greatest treasure hunt of all. Saturday afternoon you will in a faced paced race involving land and sea and you will not want to finish last! The Royal Ranger Race to the Treasure! In order to compete in The Royal Ranger Race to the Treasure you will need some special items; A boat and some oars. Your task is to build a boat before Rangerfest to be used in this race. The race will include some running, some paddling the boat, and some brain power. Mobility in the water is important for this boat but survivability in the water is the most important factor! You won t need to carry your boat more than 20 feet, but it better be sea-worthy. Natives report that large schools of pirhanas inhabit the waters you will be in. Rules 1. Your boat can only be made of Duct Tape, Cardboard and Glue. Markings with paint or markers are acceptable. 2. The boat will be propelled by oars. Boys in the water is acceptable but limited. The oars can be made of any substance or can be a store bought type. 3. There will be four total races (Discovery, Adventure, Expedition and Commanders). 4. Each race will have the following number of boys in each race: a. Discovery 4 boys minimum MUST BE IN / ON the boat. b. Adventure 4 boys minimum MUST BE IN / ON the boat. c. Expedition 4 boys minimum MUST BE IN / ON the boat.
5 d. Commanders 2 or 3 Commanders minimum MUST BE IN / ON the boat and get to the finish line however you can. 5. If your outpost needs more boys to fill in, the younger boys in your outpost can compete in the older boys race but not the other way around. If you need more boys to fill out an age group, other Outposts would be happy to help! 6. Your boat must be marked with Indiana District, your Division, your outpost number and your boat s name. Every good boat needs a name. It s bad luck not to give your boat a name. If you have questions about rules jwp0369@gmail.com Campsite Evaluations: Other Outpost Level Events In an effort to promote safe, efficient and positive camping practices we are going to be conducting campsite evaluations during Rangerfest. On Saturday, Staff members will be coming around to each campsite to evaluate how well each outpost is doing in setting up camp by the Ranger guidelines. This is now a scored part of the competition that counts towards your outpost s score. Awards are given based on how well their campsite is organized, set up for safety and functionality. A good Campsite Entryway is part of this evaluation. The categories awarded will be: Gold, Silver and Bronze! Each outpost is encouraged to strive for the Gold Standard Evaluation as a matter of Ranger Pride! A copy of the Campsite/Campcraft Inspection sheet used by the staff is included in this packet to help the local outpost prepare and know what will be looked for. Let s make it a goal to have 100% of our campsites Gold Standard. Surprise Event: You simply never know what skills you will need during a treasure hunt so you better be prepared to do it all. A good working knowledge of the following will get you by: ropecraft, lashing, compass and map skills. Summary of Events Individual Events Rifle Range, Archery Range Team Events Disc Golf Competition, Cryptography / Cipher Skills, Obstacle Course, Leadership Reaction Stations, Memory Based Events, Overall Treasure Hunting Skills, Compass Skills. Outpost Level Events Campsite Evaluations, Royal Rangers Race to the Treasure, Surprise Event.
6 Things You Need To Know: 1. Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) Every outpost needs to have one Senior Patrol Leader (SPL), regardless of his age. If all your outpost has is Discovery Rangers, then he will learn a ton and have a great opportunity to see leadership as portrayed by the older boys. It is our job as Royal Ranger leaders to mentor a boy and encourage him to lead. We will continue to challenge the SPL for each outpost and will contiunue to expect great things from him, because we know he is capable of great things in Christ! 2. Joint Patrols- Since 2015 we have been combining outposts to form Joint Patrols. Each Joint Patrol may have multiple Senior Patrol Leaders, and that is OK. 3. Volunteering to Help Run Events - We will always need commanders to help run events. During the opening rally we will meet and anyone able to help with an event will receive an information packet about that event so that he can immediately begin to see what that event entails. Remember that this is our Rangerfest and it is only what we make it. We will always strive to design an action packed, functional schedule of events but without men stepping up to help us out we simply cannot run the events. If you want to help with something specific jwp0369@gmail.com. 4. Footwear Flip-flops are not recommended for daily footwear during the events. Tennis shoes or boots will be fine. We fully expect Rangerfest 2019 to be 72 degrees and sunny all weekend! 5. Firearms Safety We will have firing ranges for each age group. We understand that every boy won t have his firearms safety card but please review basic safety rules with them prior to Rangerfest. 6. What skills do my boys need to know? Each boy may be tested at some point during Rangerfest over the following: a. Royal Ranger knowledge Current National Commander, First National Commander, the years that Royal Rangers and FCF were founded, Royal Ranger pledge, code, emblem and the Golden Rule. b. Compass skills Each boy should be able to use either a lensatic or Silvia style compass and follow a heading. They will NOT need to know their pace count. See Discovery Compass merit for further information. c. Lashing skills Each boy should have a working knowledge of basic lashing skills. See Discovery Lashing merit for further information. d. Knots Each boy may be tested on their ability to tie the following: Square knot, Figure Eight knot, Sheetbend, Clove hitch, Two half hitches, Taut line hitch, and Bowline. See Discovery Ropecraft and Adventure Camping merits for further information.
