Dear Cub Scout Leaders and Parents, First, we would like to thank you for all you do in Scouting, volunteering, and bringing your Scouts to summer camp. We hope you find that each year, your Pack can come to rely on scout camp to supply some of the requirements needed to achieve rank and have a fun adventure all at the same time. We strive to keep our program consistent, so you can plan your yearly den and pack meetings to complete other adventures. We plan to provide this program in two different locations at different times for your convenience. Black Creek Scout Reservation in Sylvania and Camp Tolochee in Brunswick. Please take the time to read through this packet. We look forward to seeing you all at summer camp this year! Yours in Scouting, Volunteer Program Staff

Arrival and Check In Please plan to coordinate your arrival with your Pack between 9-10 am. It is best to arrive as a group. Please let a staff member know of any late arrivals and we will work with you and that Cub on getting to his campsite with his gear. Cub Scouts and Adults needing Swim Checks should arrive with swim gear in hand. During the camp tour and travel to the campsite you will be stopping to take swim tests. If your unit has taken advantage of using a Swim Roster and checks done within the last year please have this ready to present to the Aquatics Director and they will make your buddy tags without having to take the test. When you first arrive please come up to the Administration Building with your youth. This is where Packs will complete any last minute paperwork, turn in medical forms and receive their reusable cups. It helps to have the youth with you in case the Health Officer has any questions or needs to meet them. We will also be taking a group picture at this time. Once this is completed please proceed to place your items on the assigned trailer. You will have been assigned a group name at check in. These trailers will be taken up to the campsite by the ranger staff while you are taking your small tour and swim tests. Should your Pack have a trailer please work with the administration at check in about letting the one vehicle proceed to the campsite. Please do not pass the gate without the permission of administration. This is for the safety of our Cubs who will be taking the same path to their tour and swim checks. Once your tour and swim checks are complete you will have time to get settled into your campsite.

Suggested Packing List poncho recommended NOTE: Leave Your Pets At Home!

Camp Policies & Procedures VEHICLES AND PACK TRAILERS: No vehicles will be permitted beyond the parking lot without prior approval from the Camp Administration. Upon arrival you will find trailers to place individual gear and our Ranger Staff will transport items up to your campsite for you. If you happen to have a pack trailer, you will be allowed to take the trailer to your campsite at check-in. However, the towing vehicle must be returned to the parking lot. This is for the safety of our Cubs and is a National Camp Standard Requirement. HANDICAP TRANSPORTATION: Valid handicap placards will be granted driving permission with an additional camp approved vehicle sign placed on the dashboard. Please check in with the Camp Administration to sign one of these placards out. We do appreciate a smaller vehicle such as a golf cart if you have that option. Again, this is for the safety of our Cubs. Please note that only the handicapped individual and assigned driver may be in the vehicle. It is not to be used to transport entire groups of Cubs and/or parents. PERSONAL CARTS AND ATV S: No personal golf carts or ATVs are allowed unless necessary for above reasons and again with prior permission only. SMOKING: Smoking is not permitted on any Boy Scouts of America property. The designated smoking area is on the blacktop pavement of Ashley Marsh Dr, outside of our main gate. Please be respectful of those around you and be the example we set for our youth. Remember Leave no Trace. INSURANCE: Each Pack that attends summer camp must have accident insurance. If you are a Coastal Georgia Council unit, your insurance is on file with our Council. All other visiting Council units must provide proof of insurance up-on check-in. Applications for Scouting insurance policies are available at your local Service Center if not already included in your registration fees. HEALTH LODGE: All safety precautions will be followed. We do have a qualified Health Officer on staff. We have made arrangements with local Emergency Medical Services for severe emergencies. Accident prevention and the safety of our participants are our top priorities. Be Prepared.

MEDICATIONS: Prescription medication may be stored either at your campsite in a locked box or at the heath lodge. The Health Officer will be available to collect any medication at check-in if you wish for them to store it. Please make arrangements at that time on when and where to meet them for that particular child s need. BUDDY SYSTEM: Cub Scouts travel with a buddy or in groups at all times. Individual scouts should not be walking around camp as the program is designed for groups to be travelling together. If a scout needs to go to the restroom, health lodge or away from the group, then please make sure an Adult Leader, parent or buddy is with them. FIRST AID: Please bring a standard First Aid kit to handle basic first aid in your campsite. Contact the Health Officer at the Health Lodge if necessary. FUELS: The use of liquid fuels for starting any type of fire is prohibited on BSA Property. All fuels including backpacking stoves must be stored properly. If you have any questions about this, please ask a staff member. ALCOHOL AND DRUGS: The use of alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs and the misuse of OTC or prescription drugs is prohibited and will not be tolerated. Violators will be asked to leave the property. This policy is strictly enforced. FIREWORKS: Fireworks and other incendiary devices are not permitted on BSA Property. PETS: Personal pets are not allowed on camp property. This includes family night programs. Please advise your families to leave their pets at home. BIKES: We do not allow bikes during Cub Resident Camp. We have tried to make the travel area small enough that this is not necessary. CORRESPONDENCE: All summer camp business mail should be sent to the council office prior to June 1. After June 1, all mail should be sent directly to the camp. To allow enough time to process registration please do not send any money or materials less than 2 weeks before your arrival. Please put a Pack number under your son s name. Camp Tolochee, 133 Ashley Marsh Dr., Brunswick, GA 31523

Dining Arrangements All meals are located in the Dining Hall. Please let us know when you register if you have any youth or adult that has a special dietary restriction. There are two small sack lunches distributed during the week. A Quick Few House Rules for Dining. Please demonstrate manners that align with the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Please remove hats while dining under any Pavilion; treat it like a building. Please come dressed for a meal (No shirt, No shoes, No service). Please be considerate of your waiters, Dining Hall Stewards and any others who may be serving you. Clean up after yourselves. Leave No Trace applies at meals as well! NEW! Bring and use a bandanna as a napkin (rinse at campsites). This is environmentally friendly and allows for Scouts to be thrifty and good stewards of the environment. *Always bring your reusable cup*

Skits and Songs Friday night your Cubs will have a chance to showcase their talent. Here are some guidelines to help them choose how to create their performance for family and friends. All acts (skits, songs, run-ons, etc.) must be screened by the unit leader and the person in charge of the event prior to the performance in front of a group. No Excessive Toilet Humor No Water where the audience or participants unknowingly get wet without their prior knowledge. No embarrassment of an audience member without their prior knowledge and agreement to participate. No racial put-downs, making fun of mental or physical abilities, religious groups and others. No portrayal of excessive violent behavior, this includes fake shootings! No performances with sexual overtones. Avoid anything that is not in keeping with the ideals of the Boy Scouts of America. Unacceptable acts that get on stage will be removed immediately Friday evening is Family Night! Parents may arrive as early as 4:00pm to participate with their Cub Scout and explore camp. Families can join us at the dining hall or return to their campsites to eat a meal coordinated by the Pack. Please let camp administration know at check-in if your visitors are planning to eat with us in the dining hall on family night. We will need the approximate numbers of visitors and the $5.00 per visitor meal charge, so we can order food appropriately (A Scout is Thrifty). Please review the camp vehicle policy with your parents and other visitors. Thank you in advance.
