1 Family Camping Itinerary, Rules and Information March 18-20, 2016 Overview/High-level Details What: Pack 198 Winter Family Camping weekend Where: Camp Tuckahoe, 400 Tuckahoe Road, Dillsburg, PA Cub Scout World Castle and Fort cabins (will be assigned on arrival) Cost: $10 per person, covers camp site, activities New Birth of Freedom Council Camp Rules Scouts must uphold all tenets of the Scout Oath and Law. Campers must report all accidents, injuries, or lost persons to the Camp Ranger immediately. Violations of BSA policies or the following rules may result in the dismissal of individual campers or groups from camp property. Campers are responsible for any damages they cause to camp property. 1. Vehicles and trailers may be parked only in areas approved by the Camp Ranger. 2. Golf carts and vehicles may not be used in camp. The Camp Ranger can approve exceptions to this rule to accommodate campers with disabilities or for program support. 3. The speed limit in camp is 10 mph. Drivers may not transport passengers in truck beds. 4. Units leaving camp for day trips or hiking must inform the Camp Ranger of their trip plans. 5. The Camp Ranger must inspect each campsite or cabin and approve its condition before its occupants depart. 6. Campers must either deposit their trash in the dumpster or take it with them when they depart. 7. Music and other sounds should not be heard beyond a campsite or cabin. Campers should remain quiet between 10 pm and 7 am. 8. Campers may build fires in existing campfire rings only. Fires must be attended at all times. 9. No firewood may be brought into camp from other locations. Campers may not cut any living or standing trees. The Camp Ranger must approve the use of all power tools. 10. Campers are not permitted to capture or hunt any animals in camp. Firearms are forbidden 11. Do not disable any smoke alarms. Do not move or remove any mattresses or cots from the cabins. 12. Smoking in camp is prohibited except in the designated smoking area. 13. At least two adult leaders must be present to supervise campers at all times. 14. All campers must travel with a buddy. Adults must accompany campers younger than 11, but no adult should ever be alone with a youth other than his or her son. 15. Alcoholic beverages, fireworks, portable generators, and electric or liquid fuel heaters are forbidden. 16. Secure all valuables. The camp is not responsible for any lost or stolen property. 17. Campers may not bring pets to camp. Visitors pets are restricted to the parking lot and not allowed in camp without the Camp Ranger s permission. 18. Campers must avoid maintenance areas, storage facilities, and construction sites. 19. The Camp Ranger must authorize any swimming or boating activities. Certified lifeguards must supervise those activities. Follow all Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat Guidelines. 20. Campers must follow all PA Fish Commission rules. Fishing is prohibited around dams, spillways, or other areas marked offlimits

2 In addition to the campground rules, the following rules must be adhered to during winter months: NO HIKING ALONE: All campers are to travel with a buddy at all times. Campers should stay in central camp near camp roads. Hiking the back trails of camp is limited to groups with adult leadership. Scouts are to let adults know where they will be in camp. CAMP ROADWAY SAFETY: Piled snow along camp roads block visibility for both drivers and campers. Look both ways before stepping on to any camp road. NO BUILDING OF SNOW CAVES: Building of snow caves in snow piles and drifts is prohibited. Snow piles and drifts are extremely unstable and could easily collapse burying occupants. NO REMOVING OF HANGING ICE AND SNOW FROM BUILDINGS: Hanging ice and snow from buildings can be very sharp and heavy if it was to fall and hit someone. It could cause injury or death. NO DRYING CLOTHING ON WOOD STOVES OR HEATERS: Clothing placed directly on wood stoves can melt or burn. Clothing should be placed 12 inches away from all wood stoves. NO SLEEPING IN VEHICLES WITH ENGINE RUNNING: Sleeping in a vehicle with the engine running is very dangerous and prohibited. NO FLAMES IN TENTS: No open flames in any tent. The use of different styles of heater can be very dangerous and require ventilation. Heaters are not to be used in enclosed spaces like a tent. NO WALKING OR SKATING ON ICE AT LAKE OR CREEK: Numerous small springs and streams entering under ice will create thin and dangerous ice. SLEDDING IN APPROVED AREA ONLY: To avoid injury, campers are only permitted to sled in areas approved by Camp Ranger. NO PERSONAL HEATERS: Units are not permitted to bring any type of gas or electrical personal heating devises into camp.

3 Weekend Schedule of Events and Itinerary Friday, March 18 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Arrival: Cabin assignments and unpacking/setting up cabins for the weekend 7:15 PM Welcome & Gathering Color Group Assignment & Review of Itinerary and Camp Rules 7:30 PM Crackel barrel, evening snacks, board games, movies in your cabins 9:30 PM Lights out / Quiet hours Saturday, March 19 7:30 AM Breakfast preparation 8:00 AM Flag raising ceremony (outside the Castle) 8:15 AM Breakfast service (at your home cabin) 9:30 AM Small Group Activity areas (rotate by color group assigned on Friday Night) Station #1: Bridge Building (outside the castle) Station #2: Kingdoms of Tuckahoe craft (inside the Castle) Station #3: Photo booth (inside the Fort) Station #4: Science Experiment (Outside the Fort) 11:30 AM Lunch preparation 12:00 PM Lunch served at each cabin (or lunch to go, if desired) 1:00 PM Ranges Open (subject to change based on range master availability) 3:00 PM Pack activity (athletic field in Cub World) 4:00 PM Den Hikes 5:00 PM Dinner preparation & zip line (near the Teepee village if available) 6:00 PM Dinner service at each cabin 7:15 PM Flag lowering 7:30 PM Fort vs. Castle Capture the Flag Battle (meet outside Castle for Rules) 9:00 PM - Crackel barrel, evening snacks, board games at cabin 10:00 PM Lights out / Quiet hours
