2 Jake Gotimer, CT Rivers Council Program Director DAILY SCHEDULE 8-8:45 AM- Drop-off 9:00 AM- Opening Flag Ceremony 9:15 AM- Program Begins 4:00 PM- Program Ends 4-4:30- Pick-up 5:30- Late Pick-up Friday at 3 PM- Closing Campfire and Awards Ceremony Families are invited but attendance is not mandatory WHAT TO EXPECT Each day, Scouts will be organized into dens that will rotate through a variety of activities that take advantage of the unique setting of Camp New Milford. Every day begins with an opening flag ceremony and ends with a closing flag ceremony. The theme this summer is Passport to Adventure. Activities and costumes will be centered on this theme and scouts and leaders are encouraged to dress in their favorite theme-related regalia. Scouts and adult leaders should bring a bag lunch each day, as well as snacks and a water bottle. Each scout will be given a T-shirt that they need to wear each day so they can be identified for security. Extra shirts will be available for purchase online during registration and at camp for $10. Each Scout and adult leader must have a completed BSA Health form on file at camp in order to participate. This is a CT state requirement and we will be penalized for anyone without a completely filled out and signed form. Scouts that do not have one will need to return home until one can be completed and brought to camp. Parts A & B of the BSA Health and Medical Form, either Part C or a school physical form signed within the prior 36 months, and a copy (both sides) of the insurance card needs to be attached. If any Scouts will be taking medications while at camp they must be turned in in the original container, with prescription labels. This includes over the counter medications like Benadryl, if there are no prescription labels we will send it home with you. Part B and the Authorization to Administer Medication both must be signed by a medical professional and parent if a Scout is taking medications while at camp. 3 The address for Camp New Milford is 100 Still River Drive, New Milford, CT. We will be using the Conn Pavilion towards the back of the park. The entrance to Harrybrooke Park is approximately 1/2 mile east from US-202. When heading from US- 202 the entrance is on the right, just before the railroad tracks. Drive into the park past the parking lot at the road (it may look like you re driving onto a walking path but it is a road). Continue driving until the road splits at the flag pole, follow the road around to the left. Keep driving around the outer perimeter of the park until you see the Boy Scouts of America trailer, it will be about ¾ of the way around. There will be a sign-in/sign-out sheet for each Scout and sibling. Parents, guardians, or family friends listed on the sign-in/sign-out sheet must sign a check-in and check-out log at the beginning and end of each day. Individuals picking up scouts must have a form of identification and must be listed on the approved list on the sign-out log. PICK-UP INFORMATION Pick-up will happen in the same location as drop-off. Before Scouts leave camp they must be signed out by an adult listed on the sign-in/sign-out sheet. Calls will be placed to Scouts families who are not signed out at the end of the day. Camp program will end with a closing ceremony at 4 p.m. Monday- Thursday. Scouts may be picked up anytime between 4-4:30 p.m. This year we are offering a late pick-up option. There is an additional $10 per day fee for this late pick-up option. VOLUNTEER LEADERSHIP Each pack contingent is encouraged to have adult leaders accompany the boys to camp. Again in 2018, all Scouts in Packs that send at least one adult for every eight Scouts will again receive a $50 refund the week after camp. It does not need to be the same adult each day. These adults supervise campers and by having a prior relationship with the scouts they are accompanying can help assure that all boys have a positive day camp experience. All adults must submit the same health forms as campers, but are not charged for their participation. Adult leaders must also be registered scout leaders and have completed BSA Youth Protection Training within the last two years. Connecticut Rivers Cub Scout Day Camps are competitively priced when compared to other day camp providers in the region, and this is only possible through the contributions of volunteers. 4 1-8 Scouts: 1 Adult each day 9-16 Scouts: 2 Adults each day Scouts: 3 Adults each day PRE-CAMP MEETING A pre-camp leaders meeting will take place on Sunday, July 29, at 12 p.m. at Camp Harrybrooke. Unit contingent leaders and parents are encouraged to attend this meeting, which is an opportunity to review camp procedures and submit medical forms and other paperwork before the first day of camp. One of the highlights of the week of camp will be a closing campfire at 3 p.m. on Friday. Scouts and staff will perform a multitude of skits and songs. Special awards, camp certificates, and other recognitions will also be handed out. Parents and other family members are invited to attend, but attendance is not required. Scouts may be picked up at the usual pickup time if that is more convenient for your schedule. CLOSING CAMPFIRE

5 DAY CAMP EQUIPMENT CHECKLIST: Health Form completely filled out Day Camp T-shirt Theme-related regalia Bag lunch in a Ziploc bag (lunches will be stored in a cooler with ice using the plastic bag for lunch reduces the overall volume of the lunches and helps assure the lunch does not get wet) Appropriate clothes for the weather Rain gear camp goes on rain or shine Day pack Water bottle Lunch Bathing suit (there will be some water activities offered) Towel Hat Sunscreen that boys can apply themselves Insect repellent Please label all clothing, towels, hats, etc., with last name and pack number Scouts need to wear sturdy shoes for hiking and games. NO OPEN-TOED SHOES
