2 Commercial Burglaries: Date/Time Address (block range) Method of Entry Description/Suspect Information 07/25/2017 3:04am W Nine Mile Rd. (Commercial- Market) Front glass window on the north side of store was broken out. Officers responded to alarm at Market in the Block of Nine Mile Rd indicating glass breakage. Officer working unmarked unit arrived first and observed glass broken out on front of store and an audible alarm was activated. Officer checked the area and observed a Red Ford Taurus running w/o the headlights activated to the rear of business one east of the market. The vehicle then went south through the alley and stopped at another business on Lahser Rd. It appeared that suspects were attempting to break into this business now. The suspects observed Officer vehicle and they fled s/b on Lahser at a high rate of speed w/o its headlights activated. When the vehicle got to 8 Mile & Lahser it attempted to go e/b on 8 Mile in the w/b lanes. The vehicle lost control and struck the median. One subject bailed and headed n/b, the other occupants bailed and headed s/b. Officer observed a subject in grey hoodie, darker grey pants, and grey mask or shirt covering face running e/b in front of the businesses. Several Officers gave chase. A Southfield Police K-9 Officer involved in the foot pursuit warned suspect several times that if he didn t stop fleeing he would release his K-9. Suspect ignored Officers warnings and continued to flee. The K-9 was released and given the apprehension command. K-9 caught up to suspect and engaged him.

3 Tips: Do not display valuable items in windows when closed for business Contact the Southfield Police Crime Prevention Bureau for a free security inspection (248) The suspect was then apprehended by Officers and taken into custody Disposition: Good B&E at Market. Stolen Liquor Bottles, Lottery Tickets and Cigarettes were later recovered in a plastic bag. The second business that was attempted checked secure. The two other suspects that fled the vehicle were not located at this time. The vehicle suspects were in was reported stolen out of another jurisdiction. Evidence relating to and discovered from the stolen vehicle are being investigated that may lead to identifying the other two suspects.

4 Home Invasion: Date/Time Address (block range) Method of Entry Description/Suspect Information 07/29/2017 1:19pm Poinciana St. (8 Mile & Inkster Area) Front door was forced open. Officers responded to Home Invasion in progress. Information from R/P was an unknown B/M wearing a red shirt, forced entry into the home and assaulted her husband. The suspect exited out of the rear sliding door and fled through the back door. Officers arrived and observed male victim to be sitting on the side porch steps, and his wife was standing on the porch landing next to him. Victim had several injuries and was bleeding. R/P (victim s wife) stated she was in the kitchen when she heard a loud noise in the living room and screaming. R/P attempted to call 911 however when the suspect saw she was on the phone he ripped the phone out of her hand, pushed her into the corner of the dining room and told her to be quiet. R/P stated the suspect then returned to her husband and continued to assault him. R/P began screaming, and the suspect again told her to be quiet. Victim yelled to his wife, "Get the gun! The suspect then pulled all the phones off the walls, disabling them, and fled out the sliding glass door. At this point R/P was able to call 911 and began screaming for help. 6 Automobile Thefts: 07/24/2017 2:25pm Date/Time Address (block range) Year, Make, Model Details Telegraph Rd. (Auto Dealership) Status SR - Both Stolen And Recovered Manufacturer Jeep Model Laredo License No. No Plate Color BLK - Black Vehicle Year Body Style State License Year D - 4 Door Description Cherokee Laredo Recovered Date/Time 07/24/2017 9:09pm Witness (employee) just got done washing the vehicle and walked away from it (still running). The next thing he knows the vehicle is being driven away towards Telegraph Rd. Employee stated a little before this he observed 3- B/M in their early 20's walking around the rear of the lot and open the bay doors. Employee states he has seen them before in the area. Last week one of the suspects asked if he knew a subject that was an ex- employee. Employee states there was a Dark Gray Dodge (License Plate was given to Officer investigating) with one or two of the suspects in it. This vehicle went s/b on Telegraph. The plate given came back stolen out of another jurisdiction. The vehicle stolen from dealership was recovered by DPD the same day that it was taken. The vehicle was occupied at the time of recovery and the driver of the vehicle was arrested. Incident is under further investigation.

(Department Store) Status S - Stolen Manufacturer CHEVROLET Model MALIBU Color BLK - Black Vehicle Year 2015 Body Style State MI License Year Description Black Victim, an employee at business parked her vehicle in the parking lot at 12:10pm. Victim returned to where she parked her vehicle at 2:23pm and discovered the vehicle had been stolen. Vehicle was parked at the North Park Apartments.

8 07/28/2017 2:58pm Northwestern (Commercial- Office Complex) Status S - Stolen Manufacturer GMC Model SIERRA Color BLK - Black Vehicle Year 2000 Body Style State MI Description Black lifted 2000 GMC Sierra Victim states sometime between 6:45am 2:50pm someone stole his GMC Sierra Pick Up Truck. The truck was parked at the AT&T Building off Northwestern Hwy. Further Vehicle Description: Black 2000 GMC Sierra Vehicle is lifted and stands at approx. 7 tall, silver aluminum wheels, black running boards on driver and passenger side "Grizzly Racing" and "Oakland University" stickers on rear window. Tips: Never leave your vehicle running unattended Park in areas where your vehicle is viewable if possible Use commercially available security devices

9 Larceny: Date/Time Address (block range) Item Taken Details From: 07/24/ :30pm To: 07/25/2017 5:30am (2- Incidents) W Twelve Mile (Residential- Apartments) -All Four Wheels & Tires were taken from 2017 Ford Fusion. -All Four Wheels & Tires were taken from 2017 Ford Explorer. Victim#1 states sometime between 10:30pm and the following morning at 5:30am someone took All Four Wheels & Tires from his 2017 Ford Fusion. Victim#2 states sometime between 10:00pm and the following morning someone took All Four Wheels & Tires from his 2017 Ford Explorer. From: 07/24/ :00pm To: 07/25/ :45am London Ct. (Residential- Apartments) Handgun and shoulder bag containing Radio and Flashlight were taken from vehicle. Victim states sometime between 11:00pm and the following morning at 10:45am someone entered victim s vehicle and stole a duffle bag with victim s personal property in it. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician processed the vehicle and evidence was collected.

10 From: 07/25/2017 7:40am To: 07/25/2017 9:38am (2- Incidents) From: 07/25/ :00pm To: 07/25/2017 2:22pm Northwestern (Commercial- Office Complex) Lancaster Dr. (Residential- Apartments) -Navigation System was taken from 2014 Chrysler Navigation System was taken from 2012 Chrysler Mini Van. Leaf Blower was taken from 2000 Ford F-250. Victim#1 states sometime between 7:40am- 9:39am someone broke out window on her vehicle and stole the In-Dash Navigation System. Victim#2 states sometime between 8:00am- 11:45am someone broke out window on her vehicle and stole the In-Dash Navigation System. Victim states sometime between 12:00pm- 2:22pm while doing landscaping at Apartment Complex someone stole a Leaf Blower out of their truck. From: 07/25/2017 9:45am To: 07/25/ :20am W Nine Mile Rd. (Commercial Office) Stolen Property: Weed Whip, Edger. & Back Pack Blower was taken. R/p works for Maintenance Company. He states that he was at business in the Block of Nine Mile Rd. to mow the grass at 9:45am. After removing the mower from his enclosed utility trailer, he locked the trailer. R/p came back to the trailer at 10:20am and noticed that the lock was missing and three items were missing. A weed whip, an edger, and a back pack blower. R/p states that he noticed a maroon car parked at the corner of the north entry for about ten minutes. Possibly involved.

Victim states her video surveillance shows what appears to be a black male wearing a white shirt and black pants. He had a thin build. He was only in the vehicle for about a minute. The suspect was also looking in other vehicles parked next to her vehicle. 12 From: 07/25/2017 5:30pm To: 07/26/2017 9:00am Berg Rd. (residential- Condo s) Stereo/ Navigation System were taken from victims 2016 Chrysler 300. Victim states sometime between 5:30pm and the following morning at 9:00am someone broke out window on vehicle and took the In-Dash Stereo/ Navigation System. From: 07/26/ :10am To: 07/26/ :15am (2- Incidents) Northwestern (Commercial Office) Catalytic Converter was taken from Honda Odyssey. A second vehicle Chevy Venture attempt only. Witness observed a Gold GMC Conversion Van that was custom-designed with a raised fiberglass top, back into the parking spot directly next to victims Honda Odyssey. Witness saw two (2) black males in the van, the driver was in his mid/late-30s. He saw the passenger open the passenger rear door (directly next to the Honda Odyssey, and slide under victim s vehicle. Witness watched as the van pulled away from that spot and backed into another spot directly next to a second vehicle, a Blue, Chevy Venture. Witness came out side and he could hear the tool cutting the catalytic converter off the vehicle. The witness started yelling at the suspects and they fled the scene. After inspecting both vehicles it was discovered that only one catalytic converter was taken. There was an attempt on the second vehicle a Blue Chevy Venture. The suspect vehicle and ownership have been identified and incident is under further investigation.

13 From: 07/24/2017 9:00am To: 07/24/2017 4:00pm Helen St. Handgun was stolen. Victim states sometime between 9:00am- 4:00pm someone entered her unlocked vehicle and stole her handgun. Victim thinks her husband may have taken the handgun. They had an argument a day earlier and she kicked him out of the house. He returned on the day that the gun was discovered missing. Victim states sometime between 8:00am- 12:00pm someone broke out window on vehicle and took the In-Dash Stereo System. From: 07/25/2017 9:30pm To: 07/26/2017 3:00pm La Seine St. (Residential- Apartments) In-Dash Stereo System was taken from 2015 Chrysler 300. Victim states sometime between 9:30pm and the following day at 3:00pm someone broke out window on vehicle and stole the In-Dash Stereo System.

15 07/28/ :19am W Nine Mile Rd. (Commercial- County Offices) In-Dash Stereo System and a pair of Puma Gym Shoes were taken from victims 2017 Dodge Challenger. Victim states at 10:19am an unknown subject broke out window on vehicle and took the In-Dash Stereo System and a pair of gym shoes. Incident was captured on video. No further info. in reference to the video at this time. From: 07/28/2017 7:50am To: 07/28/ :15am Lahser Rd. (Commercial Medical Building) Portable GPS System, clothing & make-up were taken from victims 2011 Chrysler 200. Victim states at 10:15am she observed 2- B/M's in their 30 s get into their vehicle which was parked next to hers and speed off. The suspect vehicle was an older, beat up four door sedan dark green in color. Victim did not see the suspects in her vehicle but when going out to her car she discovered a window broken out and items missing from the vehicle. From: 07/27/2017 9:00am To: 07/27/ :00am Wildbrook Dr. Victim s items of jewelry were taken from her jacket which was in her 2014 Dodge Durango. Victim states that she was at her daughter's house between the hours of 9:00am 10:00am. She had pulled into the drive and locked her vehicle. She left her coat in the vehicle. She states that she had items of jewelry in the coat. Her granddaughter had asked for her car keys so that she could move victim s vehicle so that the granddaughter could get out of the drive. When victim went back out to her vehicle she noticed that the granddaughter had not moved the vehicle. Victim got back in her car and noticed that her jewelry was missing from her coat. Suspect has been identified and incident is under investigation.

Victim states sometime between 9:00pm and the following morning at 9:52am someone broke out window on vehicle and stole the In-Dash Stereo/ Navigation System. Victim states sometime between 10:00pm and the following morning at 9:00am someone broke out window on vehicle and stole the In-Dash Stereo/ Navigation System. From: 07/29/2017 6:30pm To: 07/30/2017 9:00am (3- Vehicles were attacked.) Northwestern (Hotel) - Navigation System was taken from Chrysler Product. - Navigation System was taken from 2017 Chrysler Navigation System was taken from 2017 Dodge Challenger. Victim #1 states sometime between 6:30pm and the following morning at 9:00am someone broke window out on vehicle and took the In-Dash Navigation System. Victim #2 states sometime between 11:00pm- 9:00am someone broke window out on vehicle and took the In-Dash Navigation System. Victim #3 states sometime between 10:00pm and the following morning at 9:00am someone broke window out on vehicle and took the In- Dash Navigation System.

17 07/30/ :22am (2- Vehicles were attacked) Northwestern (Hotel) - Navigation System was taken from 2016 Chrysler Navigation System, Cell Phone, Shoes & Jewelry were taken from 2015 Jeep Liberty. Victim#1 couldn t be located at this time. Navigation System is missing from 2016 Chrysler 300. Victim#2 states sometime between 3:30am- 10:20am someone broke out window on vehicle and stole the In-Dash Navigation System, jewelry and a pair of shoes. From: 07/28/2017 8:30am To: 07/28/ :45pm 07/29/2017 3:53pm Larkins Ave. Wallet was taken from 2009 Subaru Impreza Town Ctr. Stereo/ Navigation System were taken from 2017 Dodge Durango. Victim states sometime between 8:30am- 12:45pm someone stole his wallet out of his vehicle. 19 Be on the Look Out Highlights: Special Attention: LFA s Special Attention: Larceny from Vehicles How to prevent this from happening to you! -Citizens should never leave anything of value inside their vehicle. (Especially Handguns, Purses, Wallets, Cash & Cell Phones!) - If you have a garage you should park your vehicle in the garage and lock the garage. - Wheel Locks are a deterrent but don t leave the wheel lock key in the interior of your vehicle, especially the center console or glove box. This is the first place they will look for the wheel lock. Arrests by SPD Officers: OWI= Operate While Impaired OUIN= Operate Under Influence Narcotics LFA= Larceny From Auto R&C= Receiving & Concealing Stolen Property DWLS= Driving With Suspended License A&B= Assault & Battery CSC= Criminal Sexual Conduct CCW/CPL= Carrying Concealed Weapon NOLOP= No Operator License on Person R/A= Robbery Armed PWID= Possession with Intent to Deliver PPO= Personal Protection Order -After parking your vehicle turn your wheels all the way to the right or the left. This will make it difficult to get the lug nuts off the front wheels. - If you don t have a garage, try to park your vehicle as close to your residence as possible. -If you here any loud noises near where your vehicle is parked, especially during the late night or early morning hours, attempt to look outside without alerting anyone and if someone is tampering with your vehicle immediately call 911, (Do Not Approach

20 or Scare the Suspects Away) give Police Dispatchers as much information about the suspect(s) and suspect vehicles as you can. Stay on the phone with Dispatchers until the Police arrive. -Lots of lighting around the area(s) that you park your vehicles is also very beneficial. Criminals don t like to work in well lighted areas. They prefer to work in darkness because it s difficult to see them. Fleeing & Eluding- 1- Arrest 07/30/2017 9:43pm M-10/ Evergreen Rd. Southfield Officer attempted to initiate a stop for a traffic violation at location. The driver failed to stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The suspect eventually pulled over and was placed under arrest without further incident. PWID Marijuana- 2- Arrests 07/29/2017 5:10pm Block of Northwestern (Hotel) Officers were dispatched to Hotel in the Block of Northwestern Hwy. for a room eviction. Upon arrival, the Officers entered the room with management and discovered a large amount of suspected marijuana inside the room. The occupants of the room were placed under arrest and lodged in the Southfield Jail.

21 Special Attention: Shots Fired at Catalpa Park 07/26/2017 9:11pm (Catalpa Park) Officers were dispatched to Catalpa Park on a report of shots fired. The r/p witnessed the driver of a Black Chevy Suburban firing shots at the occupants of a Silver Sedan. Both vehicles were last seen W/B on Catalpa. Upon arrival, the Officers located one spent shell casing at the scene.
