(Residential- Apartments) Window was broken out. On January 7, 2019 at 4:42pm Officers were dispatched to the Block of Willow Ct. (Apartment Complex) for a Home Invasion in progress. Responding units were advised the suspect is a thin build unknown race male. He is wearing a red hoodie with a black jacket and about 6-0 tall. Officers arrived on scene and found a window broken out on the apartment in question. Officers set up a perimeter on the outside of the apartment and then went inside the apartment building. Officers located a subject matching the description given exiting the apartment. The suspect had his hands in his pockets and when given verbal commands to stop and take his hands out of his pockets he attempted to run back into the Apartment and close the door. Officers stopped the suspect from closing the door, forced their way into the apartment and the suspect resisted until Officers secured and handcuffed him. The suspect yelled several times to Officers that the

3 apartment was his. (It wasn t!) Officers located R/P (victim) and he advised Officers that the suspect broke out a window on his apartment and he fled to the parking lot where he phoned 911. The suspect had several items that belonged to victim on his person and a screw driver likely used to enter victim s apartment. It s believed that the suspect may be responsible for an earlier attempted Home Invasion in the same complex. 01/09/ :44am La Garonne St (residential- Condos) Door lock was pried open. Victim states sometime between 7:00am- 11:00am someone forced entry into her apartment and took numerous items including jewelry, food, utensils, house plants, clothing etc. Victim is certain that the responsible person is her sister who was living with her and moved out a few months ago. Suspect has been identified and incident is under investigation.

When he returned home the following day around 4:00pm he discovered his home was ransacked. The sofas were overturned and all his belongings were scattered around the apartment. When victim left his apartment, he locked both the door lock and the dead bolt. When he returned home, both were still locked. There were no signs of forced entry. The only other person to have keys was his ex-girlfriend. Victim suspects it was his ex-girlfriend. Victim advises that 2- Flat Screen TV's, Misc. Jewelry, 2- Computers, a Blue Ray Player and misc. Christmas Gifts were stolen. The keys to victims 2013 Chrysler 300 as well as the vehicle were also stolen. On 01/09/2019 victim s vehicle was recovered by DPD. It was recovered in a rear yard of a residence. The vehicle had been set on fire and the Vin# had been tampered with. No arrests were made at the time of recovery. On 01/10/2019 Southfield Officers were conducting surveillance in the City of Detroit. They were looking for victim s ex-girlfriend who is a suspect in the Home Invasion/UDAA that occurred in the City of Southfield on 01/08/2019. The suspect also had a confirmed Southfield Felony Warrant for Larceny in a Building. Officers went to an address in Detroit (Possibly where suspect is staying) and located the suspect. She was positively identified and taken into custody for the Southfield Warrant. The B&E & Auto Theft are still under investigation.

5 From: 01/09/ :00am To: 01/12/2019 4:00pm W Twelve Mile (Storage Lockers) (Residential- Apartments) Lock was pried off. Victim stated she discovered her storage locker broken into today. Items missing consisted of laundry detergent, paper towel and toilet paper. The metal hinge on storage locker was pried away from the wood frame allowing entry into the locker. There were several storage lockers that were found open. Some of the owners couldn t be located at time of report. Victim advises he went to his storage locker on 4:00pm and discovered his lock was missing from his storage locker. Victim discovered that four cases of bottled water were taken from his locker. Victim stated he was in the common area of his storage locker on Wednesday 01/09/2019. On that day, sometime between 9:00am- 1:00pm he noticed two subjects in the basement who he thought were from maintenance. He now is thinking otherwise. Possible Suspect Information: Suspect #1 Black male, roughly 5'-9" 200lbs. wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans. Suspect #2 #2: Black male, roughly 5'-9" 200lbs. wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans.

6 From: 01/10/2019 4:00pm To: 01/12/2019 5:30pm W Twelve Mile (Storage Lockers) (Residential- Apartments) Some type of prying device was used on all the storage lockers. 2- Southfield Police Evidence Technicians investigated and processed several storage lockers that were broken into an Apartment Complex in the Block of W. Twelve Mile Rd. All the storage units are in the basement of each building. It appears that suspect(s) may have had a key to enter the main entry door to buildings. Investigation revealed that numerous storage lockers were broken into and several items were taken. Tips: Let trusted neighbors know if you are not going to be at home Be cautious about who you let in your home for service and repairs Contact the Southfield Police Crime Prevention Bureau for a free home security inspection (248)

7 Automobile Thefts: Date/Time Address (block range) Year, Make, Model Details From: 01/08/2019 5:50am To: 01/08/2019 6:05am Woodburn Dr. Status SR - Both Stolen and Recovered Manufacturer CHEVROLET Model IMPALA Color SIL - Silver or Aluminum Vehicle Year 2010 Body Style State MI Description 2010 Impala Recovered Date/Time 01/08/ :00 Victim states she started her car up in the garage to warm it up at 5:50am. When she came out 15 mins later it was gone. Victim advised that the vehicle has a tracker on it from her Credit Union. Southfield Detectives obtained the GPS location of the vehicle which pinged in the area of the Block of Ferguson St. located in the City of Detroit. Southfield Detectives and Oakland County Auto Theft Detectives responded to the area and located the stolen vehicle unoccupied. They set up stationary surveillance on the vehicle. After several hours lapsed, they didn t observe anyone return to the vehicle. What we have seen in the past is vehicles that are left running unattended in residential driveways and gas stations is that opportunists will jump in the vehicles and take them. (Commercial- Medical Building) Status SR - Both Stolen and Recovered Manufacturer JEEP Model GRAND CHEROKEE Color BLK - Black Vehicle Year 2017 Body Style 4D - 4 Door State MI License Year 2019 Description Black Jeep Grand Cherokee Recovered Date/Time 01/13/2019 2:20pm Notes Stolen. Recovered by DPD on 01/13/19. Victim arrived at her work and parked her car in the Block of Greenfield Rd. at 3:00pm. She was contacted by her bank at 6:22pm regarding suspicious use of her Credit Card. The bank informed her that her card was just used at a Gas Station on Six Mile Rd. in Detroit. Victim then discovered that her car keys were stolen out of her jacket in her office. Her jacket was kept in a closet that is accessible to all personnel in the office. Victim states that her Laptop, Driver s License, a purse and six credit cards were all inside the vehicle at the time of theft. The vehicle was recovered by DPD in Detroit. (Residential- Apartments) Status S - Stolen Manufacturer DODGE Model CHARGER Color BLK - Black Vehicle Year 2012 Body Style 4D - 4 Door State MI License Year 2018 Description 2012 Black Dodge Victim states his 2012 Black Dodge Charger was parked in the Block of Evergreen Rd. at his girlfriend s Apartment Complex. Sometime between 6:50am- 9:05am someone stole his vehicle. There was broken glass on the pavement where victim parked the car. No suspect information. From: 01/10/2019 7:30pm To: 01/11/2019 9:30am Park Place Dr. (Residential- Apartments) Status S - Stolen Manufacturer DODGE Model CHARGER Color LBL - Light Blue Vehicle Year 2015 Body Style State MI License Year 2019 Description 2015 BLUE DODGE CHARGER Victim states he parked his 2015 Blue Dodge Charger in the Block of Park Place in his Apartment Complex. Sometime between 7:30pm and the following morning at 9:30am someone stole victim s vehicle. It was parked on the west side of complex by Building D. There was shattered glass on the pavement indicating the passenger side window was broken out. Tips: Never leave your vehicle running unattended Park in areas where your vehicle is viewable if possible Use commercially available security devices

10 Larceny: Date/Time Address (block range) Item Taken Details 01/07/ :59am 9 Mile/ Lahser Status S - Stolen Count 1 Description Black Leather Handbag Purse with polka dots inside. Contents: State ID, Cash, Medications, Gloves & Battery Charger. Victim states on 01/07/19 at 10:41am she got onto a Smart Bus at 9 Mile Rd. and Harper. Victim got off the bus at 9 Mile and Lahser Rd. at 11:59am. A short time later victim noticed her purse was missing. She contacted Smart Bus and was told that they will have the bus return. When the bus returned she looked for her purse and did not locate it. Victim stated that the items in her purse included her State ID, Medicare Card, Bus passes, cash, Medication, Gloves, Battery Charger, and Phone Charger. The purse with described as a black leather handbag with polka dots on the inside. Smart Bus will review their Surveillance Video to see if they captured incident. 01/08/2019 9:25am Mahon Dr. Catalytic Converter was stolen. No further information.

11 From: 01/07/ :00am To: 01/09/2019 8:00am Evergreen Rd. (Residential- Apartments) Status S - Stolen Count 1 Color SIL - Silver Description PASSENGER SIDE POWER MIRROR Victim states sometime between 12:00am- 8:00am someone stole the passenger side door power mirror from her 2015 Buick Encore. No suspect information. 01/12/ :08am Berg Rd. (Residential- Apartments) Wallet with Driver s License, Credit Cards, Health Card & Cash was taken. Officers were dispatched to location on reports of a larceny. The suspect had stayed the night at victim s apartment. When he left the apartment, he took victim s wallet. Suspect left on foot. The suspect was described as a younger B/M with jeans and a red and blue back pack. When Officers arrived at the apartment complex, the guard at the gate advised a subject matching that description left the apartment complex approx. 5 minutes ago and went N/B on Berg Rd. Officers located the suspect on Northwestern, near the Marriott Hotel. Officers recovered victims Driver s License, 3- Credit Cards, Health Card & Cash from suspects pocket. Suspect told Officers he threw the wallet somewhere back at the Apartment Complex. Suspect was taken into custody for Larceny in Building. Tips: Ensure your vehicle is locked at all times and valuables are out of sight. Thieves wait for the right time and will move quickly Even if playing sports at a park ensure your vehicle is locked

12 Armed Robbery: Date/Time Address (block range) Item Taken Details 01/12/ :00pm W Eleven Mile (Commercial- Restaurant) Status S - Stolen Description Cash Officers were dispatched to the Block of W. Eleven Mile Rd. (Restaurant) for a fight in progress. Victim states he pulled up to business and he was approached by three subjects. One of the subjects was known by victim. This known subject demanded money from victim that was allegedly owed to a former employee of victims that victim had terminated. The known suspect had a handgun and threatened to kill victim if he didn t give him the money. At this point, known suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash from victim s pocket. The three male suspects then left the restaurant in a Black 2-door Nissan in an unknown direction. If something doesn t appear right or someone looks like they are up to no good, call the police immediately Trust your intuition

14 Unarmed Robbery: 01/09/ :38am >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> (Attempt Bank Robbery) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Telegraph Rd. (Commercial- Bank) Nothing was taken. Attempt Only. On 01/09/2019 at 10:55am, Officers were dispatched to the Block of Telegraph Rd. (Bank) reference an Attempted Robbery. The suspect entered the bank and walked over to the counter with a withdrawal/deposit slip. After several minute s the suspect walked over to the counter and handed teller a withdrawal slip. The teller did not read the slip before another teller started telling the suspect that he was not allowed to do business at the bank unless he took off all his head gear. The suspect proceeded to walk away from the counter and out of the building. After the suspect left the teller looked at the withdrawal slip and saw the suspect was demanding money from the drawers. The teller didn t see what direction the suspect went or if he left by foot or car. Suspect Description: The suspect was a B/M, early to mid- 20s, around 180Lbs, and approx. 5'10" He was wearing a blond wig with a black and white striped scarf and a grey thermal mask. He was also wearing a grey/black jacket, a lime green backpack, red cloth gloves, blue jeans, and red shoes.

15 01/13/ :33pm Telegraph Rd (Gas Station/ Store) An undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the cash register. Two B/M suspects entered business in the Block of Telegraph Rd. and jumped the counter demanding cash from the clerk. The clerk opened the registers and then ran to the back of the store. The suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash from the cash drawers and fled on foot towards Swanson Road. A Southfield Police K-9 Unit responded to the scene for a track. K-9 acquired a scent and tracked northwest across Franklin Rd. The track continued north along the sidewalk, then west across Franklin Road to the area of the Block of Coral Gables where its believed suspects had parked their vehicle. SPD Evidence Technician processed the scene and collected evidence. Suspect #1: B/M, 5 6, slim build, light skin, Black jacket and pants, black shoes, and a black back pack. Suspect #2: B/M, 6, slim build, light skin, dark gray jacket, Maroon long sleeve shirt under his jacket. Tips: Always be aware of your surroundings and report suspicious incidents or persons to your local police

16 Be on the Look Out Highlights: Special Attention: Fleeing & Eluding 01/10/ :56pm I-696 & Evergreen Rd. A White Dodge Charger failed to stop when Officer attempted to stop it for traffic related offenses. The pursuit was terminated and continued E/B on 696 from Evergreen Rd. The vehicle was later stopped by DPD and impounded reference the Felony Fleeing & Eluding that occurred in our city. Two suspects have been identified and incident is under further investigation. One of the suspects is the registered owner of the vehicle. Special Attention: Larceny of Packages that were ordered and delivered via Common Carrier. How to prevent this from happening to you! Recently several citizens have had packages that were delivered to their residences and apartments stolen prior to them retrieving the packages. Citizens can prevent this from happening by scheduling a specific time to have the package delivered and be waiting for the package. Citizen can also schedule the package to be picked up by themselves at the common carrier facility. 17 Special Attention: Several Storage Lockers were broken into at the Apartment Complex in the Block of W. Twelve Mile Rd. Possible Suspect Information: One of the victims stated he was in the common area of his storage locker on Wednesday 01/09/2019. On that day, sometime between 9:00am- 1:00pm he noticed two subjects in the basement who he didn t recognize but thought was from maintenance. He now is thinking the subjects may be responsible for all of the Storage Unit B&E s Suspect Descriptions: Suspect #1 Black male, roughly 5'-9" 200lbs. wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans. Suspect #2 #2: Black male, roughly 5'-9" 200lbs. wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans. Prisoner Escape/Flight 46th District Court/ Resisting & Obstructing- 1- Arrest 01/09/2019 9:55am Evergreen Rd. (46 th District Court) Officers were dispatched to the 46th District Court for a reported trouble with subject. Court Officer had a prisoner in custody for attempting to escape the Court during his arraignment. When the suspect was being arraigned and was advised he had to post bond or face jail time he ran from the courtroom, down the escalator, out the north doors into the parking lot where he jumped into the backseat of a vehicle. With the assistance from Southfield Officers and Southfield Lathrup Officers the suspect was taken into custody.

18 Special Attention: Larceny from Vehicles How to prevent this from happening to you! -Citizens should never leave anything of value inside their vehicle. (Especially Handguns, Purses, Wallets, Cash & Cell Phones!) - If you have a garage you should park your vehicle in the garage and lock the garage. - Wheel Locks are a deterrent but don t leave the wheel lock key in the interior of your vehicle, especially the center console or glove box. This is the first place they will look for the wheel lock. Disorderly Conduct- 1- Arrest 01/11/2019 3:07pm Block of Lahser Rd. (High School) Southfield Police School Resource Officer was called to assist Faculty and Security with a trespasser who was refusing to leave the school. Officer arrived at the north doors to school and observed trespasser refusing to leave the school and engaging a faculty person as the two went to the ground. Officer intervened and took the former student into custody for Trespassing. The trespasser later apologized for his behavior and stated he knew he wasn t supposed to be inside the school. -After parking your vehicle turn your wheels all the way to the right or the left. This will make it difficult to get the lug nuts off the front wheels. -If you don t have a garage, try to park your vehicle as close to your residence as possible. -If you here any loud noises near where your vehicle is parked, especially during the late night or early morning hours, attempt to look outside without alerting anyone and if someone is tampering with your vehicle immediately call 911, (Do Not Approach or Scare the Suspects Away) give Police Dispatchers as much information about the suspect(s) and suspect vehicles as you can. Stay on the phone with

19 Dispatchers until the Police arrive. -Lots of lighting around the area(s) that you park your vehicles is also very beneficial. Criminals don t like to work in well lighted areas. They prefer to work in darkness because it s difficult to see them. Special Attention: Larceny of Mail Recently We have recently seen several incidents involving mail being taken or tampered with throughout the city. Most of the incidents involved checks being taken. One incident involved someone putting their rent payment in a mail slot at their apartment complex. In situations at Apartment Complexes, citizens should hand deliver their rent payment to the Apartment Complex Office or Manager. Citizens that mail checks or anything of value from their residence mailboxes should either hand deliver it to their mail person as they drive up to your mail box or take it directly at the Post Office and mail it there.
