Victim states her basement storage unit was broken into. 4 Rims & Tires from a GMC Yukon, 2 T. V s and a Red Gas Powered Mini Bike were taken. Entry was gained by forcing open the chain link gate. A neighbor believes that she saw the suspect stealing the Red Mini Bike on Wednesday, 01/23/2019 sometime between 10:00am-2:00pm. The suspect was a light skinned B/M in his mid- 20's. He Loaded the Red Mini Bike into a Silver or White SUV, possibly a Cadillac. Witness didn't realize the mini bike was being stolen at the time. (Residential- Apartments) RS Recovered Stolen Manufacturer HYUNDAI Model SONATA Color RED - Red Vehicle Year 2015 Body Style 4D - 4 Door State MI License Year 2019 Description Red Kia The owner of the vehicle recovered his vehicle at in City of Detroit. He did not get an address where the vehicle was parked at. The vehicle was intact and had no signs of damage. The vehicle was originally reported stolen in Detroit. No further information on how owner found the vehicle. A Lein message was sent to DPD regarding the recovery.

(Residential- Apartments) S - Stolen Manufacturer CHEVROLET Model MALIBU Color RED - Red Vehicle Year 2017 Body Style State MI License Year 2019 Victim states she got into an argument with her boyfriend and it escalated to the point she broke up with him. The boyfriend was upset and he assaulted victim and her roommate when she tried to break it up. The boyfriend took victims key fob for her 2017 Red Chevy Malibu and left the scene with victim s vehicle. Suspect has been identified and incident is under investigation. 01/22/ :36am Franklin Rd. (Residential- Apartments) S - Stolen Manufacturer CHRYSLER Model 200 Color BLU - Blue Vehicle Year 2015 Body Style State MI Description 2015 CHRYSLER 200 BLUE Victim states she parked her car at her apartment complex in the Block of Franklin Rd. at 10:00pm. She returned to where she parked her car the following day at 11:00am and the car was gone. No suspect information. From: 01/21/ :00pm To: 01/22/2019 4:45am La Seine St. (Residential- Apartments) S - Stolen Manufacturer CHEVROLET Model MALIBU Color BLK - Black Vehicle Year 2009 Body Style 4D - 4 Door State MI License Year 2019 Victim stated she last saw her Black 2009 Chevy Malibu on Monday January 21, 2019@11:00pm. Victim discovered it missing when she returned to where she parked it the following 4:45am. No suspect information.

5 01/23/2019 3:30pm Westover Ave. I Recovered Stolen Manufacturer GMC Model TERRAIN Color BLK - Black Vehicle Year 2016 Body Style 4D - 4 Door State MI License Year 2020 Description 2016 BLK GMC Terrain Officers were dispatched to the area of Westover and Tapert Ave regarding a recovery of a stolen vehicle. Officers located the vehicle and called for a tow truck to come get the vehicle. The vehicle was recovered and DPD was sent a Lein message. Officers spoke to a person at the residence where the vehicle was recovered and gathered information regarding a possible suspect that was associated with the vehicle. Tips: Never leave your vehicle running unattended Park in areas where your vehicle is viewable if possible Use commercially available security devices

6 Larceny: Date/Time Address (block range) Item Taken Details 01/21/2019 1:35pm American Dr. (Hotel) S - Stolen Description Misc. hand tools, Hammer Drill, Pressure Tester. Victim states that several tools were stolen out of his work truck while he was working at Hotel in the Block of American Dr. Surveillance Video from the hotel shows a B/M pull up in a Mercury Sable and go to the back of the truck. He can be seen on camera removing tools from victim s truck at 1:35pm on Monday 01/21/2019. Suspect & Vehicle Description: B/M 20-30's, he was wearing a black hoodie with a white undershirt and blue jeans. His face was partially covered by a black knit hat. He left in a Silver Mercury Sable with an unreadable temp tag on the plate. Stolen: Misc. tools, the tools included a Hammer Drill, Pressure Tester and misc. hand tools.

7 01/22/2019 2:59pm W Twelve Mile (Commercial- Pharmacy) S - Stolen Value 200 Manufacturer VISA Description 3 VISA GIFT CARDS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> In this incident, the employee should have asked for the subject s ID prior to processing the transaction and validating the Gift Cards. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Victim (Pharmacy Employee) advises unknown B/M in his 20's approached the counter with a teddy bear, a valentine s day card and 3 gift cards. The suspect paid for the items using a credit card and the transaction went through. Employee then requested suspects identification because on purchases of $ or more for gift cards they require ID. The suspect furnished a Michigan ID card. The photo didn t match the person presenting it. Employee also noticed that the last four numbers on the credit card and the last four numbers on the receipt didn t match. After confronting suspect about the discrepancy s, he fled the store with the 3- Gift Cards. He left the other merchandise behind. The suspect was a light skinned B/M in his 20's. He was approximately 5'-6 tall and was wearing a black hat, "army like camouflage" jacket with gray pants.

8 From: 01/22/2019 7:30am To: 01/22/2019 6:30pm Northwestern (Hotel) S - Stolen Description Catalytic Converter stolen from 2012 Ford Escape Victim states on January 22, 2019 sometime between 7:00am and later the same day at 6:00pm someone took the catalytic converter from her 2012 Ford Escape. There is no suspect information. Tips: Ensure your vehicle is locked at all times and valuables are out of sight. Thieves wait for the right time and will move quickly Even if playing sports at a park ensure your vehicle is locked

9 Armed Robbery: Date/Time Address (block range) Item Taken Details 01/24/2019 3:31am Central Park (Hotel) An undisclosed amount of cash was taken. Female victim states that the two suspects are friends with her boyfriend who was incarcerated earlier in the day for DWLS and Misrep. In Southfield. The two suspects were in the vehicle when her boyfriend was arrested. Victim was with the suspects when she advised them she was leaving and going to bond her boyfriend out of jail. The suspects insisted that they were going to bond him out and wanted the female to give them the money to do so. The female told the subjects no, that she was going to bond him out. One of the suspects produced a handgun and forced victim to give them the money. Both suspects are known to the victim and both suspects have been identified. The suspects were not located at time of report. Incident is under investigation.

10 01/25/2019 4:03am Telegraph Rd. & Northwestern Hwy. S - Stolen Manufacturer FORD Model CROWN VICTORIA Color SIL - Silver or Aluminum Description CAR KEY Notes "DISNEY" KEY CHAIN ATTACHED TO KEY RING Victim states he was traveling s/b Telegraph Rd, south of Twelve Mile Rd. He was unable to stop, due to icy conditions, and crashed into the rear of a Dark Colored Chevrolet (unknown plate/ model/possible Malibu/suspect vehicle). Victim and the suspect vehicle pulled into the parking lot near Lowe's. Victim exited his vehicle, shut his vehicle door, and left his car running while the keys were in the ignition. Victim met with the other driver (suspect) in the parking lot. The suspect was a b/m, approximately 28 years old, thin, 5'10", shoulder length dreads, clean shaven, wearing a black jacket and dark pants. Victim states the suspect was visibly angry and threatened bodily harm and to shoot him. The suspect grabbed his waist band to indicate he had a weapon. Victim didn t see a weapon, but it was implied. Victim put his hands up and took a step back. The suspect then opened victim s driver s door and removed the keys from his ignition and returned to his vehicle and fled N/B on Telegraph with victim s keys. Suspect vehicle had damage to its right taillight. The suspect vehicle or suspect were not located. Tips: Always be aware of your surroundings and report suspicious incidents or persons to your local police. If something doesn t appear right or someone looks like they are up to no good, call the police immediately Trust your intuition

12 Be on the Look Out Highlights: Special Attention: MDOP/ Possible Probation/ Parole Violation: 01/22/2019 1:38pm Block of Greenfield Rd. (Commercial- Pain Management) Officers were dispatched to business in the Block of Greenfield Rd., reference trouble with a subject. R/P, called police to report that a patient damaged office property and fled the scene. Officers arrived and observed broken glass on the waiting room floor. According to R/P, the patient requested a referral/ prescription for an MRI. The patient had a tether on her ankle and she was unable to get an MRI completed with a tether attached. The requested referral was to show her probation officer, and possibly get the tether removed temporarily. The doctor refused to provide patient with a referral because she felt patient was being untruthful. Instead, the doctor advised patient to have her probation officer reach out to the office directly. The patient became irate and started banging on the sliding glass divider that separates the waiting area from the front desk. The glass shattered and patient fled the scene. Suspect has been identified and incident is under investigation. 13 Special Attention: MDOP- Tires Slashed Suspect Information: 01/24/2019 (9:00pm- 10:00pm) Block of Franklin Rd. (Residential- Apartments) Victim states she parked her 2018 Jeep Compass at her home in the parking lot of her Apartments. On January 24th, 2019" she received text/phone calls at 6:38pm, 6:41pm and 7:05pm from two subjects known to her asking to loan them some money. She refused to loan them money and they got "irate" and began to text her stating they would come to her home to get the money. Victim responded advising them not to come over and they would not be let into her home. Sometime overnight victim s vehicle was MDOP d to wit All Four Tires were slashed. On January 24th at approx. 9:00pm a witness familiar with the situation observed one of the suspects who had been texting victim running away from victim s vehicle. It was at this time that its believed victim s tires were slashed. This suspect has been identified and incident is under investigation. Aggravated Felonious Assault- 1- Arrest 01/21/ :56am Block of Franklin River Dr. (Residential- Apartments) On 01/21/2019 at 11:00am Officers were dispatched to the Block of Franklin River Dr. reference a Domestic Assault. One of the parties involved was injured and Life Support was also called to the scene. Investigation revealed that male and female (Married) got into a verbal argument regarding who was going to take the kids. The argument escalated to the point where the male half threw a candle holder with a lit candle at female and struck her in the face. The female had a severely cut lip and had to be transported to the hospital for treatment. The male half was arrested for Domestic Felonious Assault. Indecent Exposure- 1- Arrest 01/26/2019 5:25pm Block of Lahser Rd. (Bus Station) Officers were dispatched to the Block of Lahser Rd. (Bus Station) on a report of a subject exposing his genitalia to a passenger on a bus. Upon arrival, Officers investigated and arrested an adult male for indecent exposure. The suspect was lodged in the Southfield Jail.

14 Special Attention: Weapons, firing of (Includes Careless, Reckless, Needless Use) From: 01/26/ :00am To: 01/26/ :30am Sherman Ave. Victim and her son were home on the night of January 26, 2019 however they didn't hear anything because they were asleep. Victim and her son believe that the incident is related to the events surrounding a recent Home Invasion and the theft of some marijuana. Victim noticed a bullet hole through her picture window when she woke up. She went outside to investigate finding a bullet on her front porch, and two spent shell casings in the street in front of her house. She called the Police. Southfield Officers and an Evidence Technician were on scene investigating and collecting evidence. Note: There is one round that went through the picture window traveled across the family room and impacted the wall dividing the family room from the kitchen. That round was lodged within the wall. No one was injured in this incident. A neighbor who lives across the street heard 5-6-gun shots between Midnight and 12:30am. Incident is under investigation. DWLS/ Possession of Crack Cocaine- 1- Arrest 01/24/ :59pm Telegraph Rd. & W Nine Mile Rd. Officer observed vehicle exiting a private driveway and failing to stop as it entered onto Telegraph Rd. Officer attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was slow to stop and there was furtive movement by the driver prior to the stop. The vehicle was occupied by a male driver and one female passenger. After stopping the vehicle, it was discovered that the driver had no Driver s License or ID on him and he seemed very nervous. He consented to a search of the vehicle. After a second Officer arrived on scene both occupants were removed from the vehicle and the vehicle was searched. While searching the vehicle Officers located a plastic baggie containing a solid white substance believed to be crack cocaine. The bag was located on the driver side floor board within proximity of where the driver was seated. The driver was taken into custody for Possession of Crack Cocaine. At the jail, additional suspected cocaine was recovered inside suspects sox. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician Field Tested the suspected Cocaine. The result was positive for possible presence of Cocaine. The female passenger was released at the scene.

15 Special Attention: Fleeing & Eluding 01/22/ :22am W Eight Mile Rd. & Lahser Rd. Officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver failed to stop and a short pursuit ensued. The pursuit was terminated after the vehicle fled S/B on Rutherford into Detroit. Suspect Vehicle: (1) Blue 2019 Hyundai with a Michigan plate. The plate on vehicle came back as a Rental Vehicle. On 01/24/2019 our Department was notified that the vehicle was recovered by Dearborn PD. No arrests were made. Incident is under investigation. Special Attention: Larceny of Packages that were ordered and delivered via Common Carrier. How to prevent this from happening to you! Recently several citizens have had packages that were delivered to their residences and apartments stolen prior to them retrieving the packages. Citizens can prevent this from happening by scheduling a specific time to have the package delivered and be waiting for the package. Citizen can also schedule the package to be picked up by themselves at the common carrier facility. UDAA/ Fleeing & Eluding/ CCW- 1- Arrest 01/27/2019 3:47am W Eight Mile Rd. (Gas Station) Officers were dispatched to the Block of W. Eight Mile Rd. (Gas Station) on a report of a UDAA that just occurred. The victim stated that she had left her vehicle running with the keys in it and someone took off with the vehicle. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Citizens should never leave their vehicles running with the keys in the ignition!!!!! Remote starters are ok to use though. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> A short time later, Officers that were looking for the vehicle, located the vehicle on Telegraph Rd. near Civic Center Drive. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and the vehicle didn t stop. During the pursuit Officers utilized the PIT Maneuver, terminating the pursuit near Telegraph Rd. & Six Mile Rd. in the City of Detroit. A 13- year old male juvenile was apprehended and placed under arrest. A handgun was recovered inside the vehicle following the arrest.

16 Special Attention: Larceny from Vehicles How to prevent this from happening to you! -Citizens should never leave anything of value inside their vehicle. (Especially Handguns, Purses, Wallets, Cash & Cell Phones!) - If you have a garage you should park your vehicle in the garage and lock the garage. - Wheel Locks are a deterrent but don t leave the wheel lock key in the interior of your vehicle, especially the center console or glove box. This is the first place they will look for the wheel lock. -After parking your vehicle turn your wheels all the way to the right or the left. This will make it difficult to get the lug nuts off the front wheels. -If you don t have a garage, try to park your vehicle as close to your residence as possible. -If you here any loud noises near where your vehicle is parked, especially during the late night or early morning hours, attempt to look outside without alerting anyone and if someone is tampering with your vehicle immediately call 911, (Do Not Approach or Scare the Suspects Away) give Police Dispatchers as much information about the suspect(s) and suspect vehicles as you can. Stay on the phone with Dispatchers until the Police arrive. Special Attention: AOD Fire Department 01/24/2019 4:49pm W. Nine Mile Rd. (Apartment Complex) Southfield Officers assisted the Southfield Fire Department with traffic control at the scene of a large Apartment Fire. Assist Emergency Management Evergreen Rd. (P&R Building Civic Center) A call came in for assistance for Officers to make walk throughs at the Parks and Recreation Building. Residents from the Apartment Fire are being housed for the night due to being displaced by the fire. Special Attention: AOD- Lathrup PD 01/24/ :16pm Block of Wiltshire (Lathrup Village) Lathrup Village Officer requested a Southfield PD Unit to assist him on a Domestic Disturbance call due to insufficient staffing. Southfield Officer sent to assist and situation was resolved without incident.

17 -Lots of lighting around the area(s) that you park your vehicles is also very beneficial. Criminals don t like to work in well lighted areas. They prefer to work in darkness because it s difficult to see them.
