2 Commercial Burglaries: Date/Time 04/19/2017 2:34am 04/19/2017 4:48pm Address (block range) Southfield Rd. (Gas Station) Greenfield Rd. (Commercial Food/Donuts) Method of Entry Front door wall glass was broken out. A brick was thrown through the east side entry door glass. Description/Suspect Information Officers were dispatched to an alarm at Gas Station in the Block of 8 Mile Rd. After arriving on scene Officers immediately noticed that the glass on one side of the front door wall had been smashed out. Officers checked and cleared the inside of the gas station. Nobody was found inside. The owner arrived on scene and wasn t able to determine if anything was taken at this time. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician processed the scene and evidence was collected. On 4/19/2017 at approximately 4:45am Officers were dispatched to business in the Block of Greenfield RD. for a B&E. Upon arrival Officers observed the front door glass was broken out and the brick that was used was in the dining area. The manager for business stated that she arrived approximately 4:45am after receiving a call that the store had been broken into. The only thing missing at this time is the drive thru cash register containing an undisclosed amount of cash. It appears that the incident occurred sometime between 2:00am- 4:45am. Note: Southfield Police Detectives conducted follow-up investigation and discovered this is one of two recent B&E s at the same business.

3 Detectives reviewed the stores video surveillance from both incidents and discovered that it was the same suspect, wearing the same clothing in both incidents. The surveillance video from this incident shows a B/M suspect, bald thin beard, approximately 6'-0" and an average medium lanky build, wearing a blue denim colored long sleeve button up shirt, tan pants and dark shoes enter the parking lot on foot from the south just after 2:50am. The suspect throws a rock/brick through the east facing glass entry door. The suspect pushes his body through the broken glass door, jumps the main counter and takes the cash drawer from the drive thru area. The suspect then exits out the same broken doorway and walks off to the south out of sight.

4 04/20/2017 2:25am 04/21/2017 1:15am Greenfield Rd. (Commercial Food/ Donuts) W Eleven Mile Rd. (Commercial Hobby Shop ) A brick was thrown through the glass door on the north side of the business. Front glass window outer pane only was broken out with a brick. (Attempt Only) Officers were dispatched on report of a possible B&E that had occurred at business. The night delivery driver was dropping off a shipment and observed the glass shattered on the door. Entry was gained by throwing a rock through the two north side doors and shattering the glass. There was damage to the east side glass door from a failed attempt to gain entry. The manager advises one cash register containing an undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the front counter. Security video shows the suspect arrive at 2:03am from the south and attempt to throw a rock through the east side glass door. When that failed, he walked around the back of the building successfully gaining entry through the north side doors. The suspect then entered the business, jumped over the counter, and took the register on the main counter. This is the same suspect from the incident that occurred the day before at this business. Officers were dispatched at 1:15am to an alarm (front glass break) that occurred at 1:10am at the business. Officer arrived and observed the front glass window shattered. Upon closer inspection, it was discovered only the outer pane of glass was shattered, with the inner pane still intact and un-damaged. A large brick was lying next to the window. Entry wasn t gained. 5 Home Invasion: Date/Time 04/18/2017 3:00am Address (block range) Sutton Dr. (Residential- Apartments) Method of Entry No signs of force. Possibly a key was used by family member. Description/Suspect Information Victim states that when he got home at approx. 3:00am he noticed he was missing his several of his Gaming Systems along with numerous games. Victim states that the apartment was locked when he arrived home. Officers checked all points of entry, and nothing seemed to be disturbed and no sign of forced entry. Victim believes that two family members took the items because he saw them posted on their instagram pages. The suspects have been identified and incident is under investigation. 04/17/ :00pm Providence Dr. (Residential- Apartments) There were signs of tampering around the deadbolt lock. R/p states that her mother dropped her off at home at 11:00pm on 04/17/2017. They both noticed someone looking out of the blinds from her apartment. She also saw a light being turned on in her apartment. R/p states that she looked for security for the complex but did not find them. R/p went up to her apartment and called her mother before entering the apartment. Her mother said that she noticed that the light had been turned off in the apartment. R/p states that she called 911. Officers arrived and nothing appeared to have been taken and nothing was disturbed in the apartment. R/p did notice marks around her deadbolt locks and marks along the side of the door. R/p also mentioned that she had relocated in 11/01/2016 due to being stalked by her exboyfriend. Incident is under investigation.

6 From: 04/20/2017 8:00am To: 04/20/ :00pm Fairfax Entry through unsecured laundry window. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Two things of concern in this incident: 1) When victim and her mother first saw someone in the apartment looking out the window they should have immediately called 911 and stayed in their vehicle watching to see if the suspect leaves and possibly what kind of vehicle he gets into until the police arrive. 2) Victim should have never gotten out of her vehicle and went up to her apartment. Fortunately the suspect wasn t still in her apartment. Citizens should never put themselves in harm s way like that! Call 911!! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Victim states sometime between 8:00am- 12:00pm someone gained entry into residence through an unsecured laundry window. Once inside the home suspect(s) ransacked the residence. Several Gaming Systems, Cash & Coins were taken. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician responded to the scene, processed the scene and collected evidence. 04/20/2017 9:05pm Shiawassee Cir. (Residential- Condo s) Window into basement where storage unit is located was broken out. Victim states his daughter went into the basement of their apartment building around 6:00pm to do some laundry and discovered the window broken out within their storage unit. Victim states it doesn t appear that anything is missing from their storage unit. Victim states the window has been broken out and items were taken in the past.

No entry was gained Margate Ave. Front door was kicked in. Tips: Let trusted neighbors know if you are not going to be at home Be cautious about who you let in your home for service and repairs Contact the Southfield Police Crime Prevention Bureau for a free home security inspection (248) Victim advises she left her condo at 8:00am. Victim arrived back home around 6:00pm. Victim noticed that the exterior of her deadbolt on her door was tampered with. The exterior of the deadbolt was bent on the sides. She saw what appeared to be pry marks on the door near the deadbolt. Nothing was missing from the residence. She added that the doors that lead in and out of the apartment building are always being propped open. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Citizens that live in an apartment buildings where there is a common door to the apartment building should always make sure that the door is secure when coming and going from the building. If there is something defective with the door or the door lock is damaged immediately notify management from the apartment complex so it can be fixed. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Victim left her house at approx. 9:45am and returned at 3:00pm. When she walked up to her front door, she observed her front door kicked in and the door frame damaged. Victim retreated to her vehicle and called police. Officers arrived and observed the bedrooms to be ransacked. The mattresses were flipped off of the bed frame, and the drawers were pulled out of the dressers. Miscellaneous jewelry was observed on the bedroom floor. Other areas of the house, including living room, kitchen, and basement appeared undisturbed. Several items of jewelry, silver coins and stamp collection are missing from the residence.

(Commercial- Car Dealership) Status SR - Both Stolen And Recovered Manufacturer LINCOLN Model MKZ License No. Color RED - Red Vehicle Year 2017 Body Style 4D - 4 Door Description 2017 RUBY RED LINCOLN MKZ 4DR Recovered Date/Time 04/20/2017 8:20pm Location Block of W TWELVE MILE R/P (Car Salesman) advises customer came in and wanted to test drive a Lincoln MKZ. R/P advises he made a copy of the customer s driver s license and told the customer to take a 3-4 mile test drive and return to the dealership. (2:30pm) The customer never returned with the vehicle. At approx. 8:20pm the suspect returned to the dealership with the vehicle. Officers interviewed the suspect. Suspect stated that he drove the vehicle back to his residence to show family and friends. He then fell asleep for two hours. After he woke up he started to drive back up to the dealership. He states that traffic was backed up so that's why it took him so long to return the vehicle????? The dealership doesn t wish to press charges at this time. Vehicle was recovered and inspected. Everything appeared to be intact with the vehicle.

9 From: 04/19/2017 8:00pm To: 04/20/2017 6:54pm Evergreen Rd Status S - Stolen Manufacturer LOAD TRAIL Model DUMP TRAILER Color BLK - Black Vehicle Year 2014 Body Style TR - Trailer State MI Description STOLEN 2014 LOAD TRAILER BLACK IN COLOR Victim stated on 04/19/2017 at approx. 11:00am he parked his work trailer in the Block of Evergreen Rd. His business partner was using the trailer while replacing the roof at that location. Victim s business partner called him on 04/21/2017 and stated that the trailer was no longer at the location and it appeared that someone had stolen it. Victim advises he had a GPS unit on the trailer. When victim pulled up the tracking information for the GPS, it showed that the trailer started moving on 04/20/2017 at approx. 6:54pm. (Time of theft) On 04/20/2017 at approx. 10:57pm the tracker indicated the trailer was parked at a residence in Detroit. Victim went to the residence with a Detroit Police Officer and the trailer wasn t there. From: 04/21/2017 9:30pm To: 04/22/2017 9:45am Collingwood Dr. (Residential- Condo s) Status SR - Both Stolen And Recovered Manufacturer FORD Model EDGE Color RED - Red Vehicle Year 2016 Body Style SW - Station Wagon State MI License Year 2017 Recovered Date/Time 04/22/ :00am Location Block of POINCIANA ST. R/P stated there was a Red Ford Edge parked in front of his neighbor s house in the Block of Poinciana, in Southfield, missing all the wheels and tires with the rear driver window broken out. Southfield Police Dispatch contacted the registered owner of the vehicle and she looked out to her driveway in the Block of Collingwood in Southfield and discovered that the vehicle was stolen. The vehicle was recovered.

10 04/22/2017 5:41pm Telegraph Rd. & W Nine Mile Rd. Status R - Recovered Stolen Manufacturer GMC Model YUKON XL License No. Color SIL - Silver or Aluminum Vehicle Year 2004 Body Style SW - Station Wagon State MI Stolen Vehicle Recovered Date/Time 04/22/2017 6:20pm Officer was on routine patrol and ran plate on vehicle. It came back clear no record on computer. Officer stopped the vehicle in the area of 9 Mile & Telegraph to make sure the vehicle was properly registered. After stopping the vehicle Officer detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle stated he didn t have a valid driver s license and he didn t have vehicle registration or title for the vehicle. He stated he bought the vehicle from an unknown person for an undisclosed amount of money. After checking the vin# it from the vehicle it was discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Livonia. Additional Officers arrived on scene to assist with investigation. Further investigation revealed that the driver had a suspended license and the vehicle was a confirmed stolen out of Livonia PD. A Southfield Police K-9 conducted a narcotics sweep of the exterior and interior of the vehicle. K-9 alerted to the glove box on the interior of the vehicle. K-9 Officer Raby searched the glove box and located a green plastic container containing suspected marijuana. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician Field Tested a sample of the suspected marijuana. The result was positive for possible presence of marijuana.

11 Tips: Never leave your vehicle running unattended Park in areas where your vehicle is viewable if possible Use commercially available security devices The driver was arrested for R&C Motor Vehicle, DWLS & Possession of Marijuana.

12 Larceny: Date/Time Address (block range) Item Taken Details 04/17/2017 8:56am 04/17/2017 3:00pm Berg Rd. (Residential- Apartments) Northwestern (Commercial Office Center) 1- Generator, 1- Basket of Cables, 1- Sewer Machine, and 1- Jack Hammer were taken from the back of victims 2015 Ford Pick Up Truck. 3- Hub Caps were taken from 2004 Cadillac Deville. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Suspect Vehicle: Blue Chevy Impala, faded paint on hood, roof and trunk. Suspect #1 B/M, thin build, and white t-shirt, dark pants, and red shoes. Suspect# 2 B/M, thin build, dark shirt, dark pants. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Victim states sometime between 10:00pm and the following morning at 7:00am someone took several construction type items from the bed of his Pick Up Truck. Victim parked his Silver 2004 Cadillac DeVille in the parking lot of the Office Building in the Block of Northwestern Highway at 9:30am. Victim returned to his vehicle at 7:00pm and discovered that 3 hub caps on his vehicle were missing. Victim talked with Security and they reviewed their surveillance video. Security stated that they could see two men going through the parking lot at 3:00pm taking hub caps. The video footage shows a Blue Chevy Impala drive through the lot and park next to the attacked vehicle. 2- B/M s exit the car. One walks the lot while the other removes the hubcaps. They then drove around and parked next to another vehicle where they removed those hubcaps as well.

13 04/20/ :07am Clara Ln. (City- DPW) Chrome Exhaust Cover Tips were taken from Dodge Chargers. R/P for City of Southfield DPW reports that Dodge Chargers had their Chrome Exhaust Cover Tips removed from the vehicles. Vehicles attacked were parked next to each other in the south parking lot of the complex. It is unknown at this time when this incident occurred. From: 04/19/2017 2:55pm To: 04/19/2017 3:05pm W Eight Mile Rd. (Commercial- Food Electronic Ordering Device was taken from business work truck. On 04/19/2017 at 2:55pm, Business Delivery Driver was making a delivery in the Block of W. 8 Mile in his company vehicle. After his delivery had been completed, he put his electronic ordering device in the company vehicle and went inside the restaurant to eat lunch. When he returned to the vehicle, the electronic ordering device was missing. The vehicle was left unlocked. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Citizens or businesses that are delivering items of value should always lock their vehicles and don t leave things of value lying on the seats where suspects can see them. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

14 04/21/2017 5:14am Virginia St. Attempt to take All Four Wheels & Tires from 2016 Ford Explorer. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This is a perfect scenario where citizens that observe anything similar to this to stay inside your residence, don t let the suspects know that you are watching them and immediately call 911. Stay on the phone with dispatch until the police arrive and give them as much information as you can about the suspect(s) description and suspect vehicle description! Never go outside and yell at the suspects. This will scare them away or it could put citizens in harm s way. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Victim states that he happened to look out the window and observed that his three outside porch lights were not on and there was a Dark Colored SUV backed into his driveway. Victim went out the front door and observed an unknown male with a car jack and he was removing the lug nuts from his 2016 Ford Explorer. Victim observed another unknown male in the driver seat of the Dark Colored SUV. Victim yelled out to them and the unknown male that was in the driveway jumped into the SUV and the vehicle sped off E/B on Virginia and South on Paul Revere. Victim states it was too dark to get a plate and was unsure if the vehicle had one attached. Suspect Descriptions: 2- Unknown Males wearing dark clothing. Suspect Vehicle: Dark Colored SUV

15 04/22/2017 2:00pm Glenbrooke Dr. (Residential- Condos) Status S Stolen License Plate Notes TAKEN FROM SILVER 2008 DODGE CARAVAN 4DR Victim states sometime between 2:00pm- 2:00pm someone stole the license plate off her vehicle. The vehicle was parked in the Block of Glenbrooke in the Condo Complex. Tips: Ensure your vehicle is locked at all times and valuables are out of sight. Thieves wait for the right time and will move quickly Even if playing sports at a park ensure your vehicle is locked

17 Be on the Look Out Highlights: Special Attention: Fleeing & Eluding Suspect & Suspect Vehicle Information: 04/22/ :22pm Eight Mile Rd. & Southfield Fwy. Officer was stopped at a red light E/B Eight Mile Rd just west of Southfield Rd. Officer observed a Green Dodge Challenger pull out onto 8 Mile Rd from a parking lot on the south side of the road. When the vehicle got on 8 Mile Rd, it began to drive erratically and do circles in the road. The vehicle then went westbound in the eastbound lanes straight at Officer as if it was targeting Officer. Officer observed a young black male driver with short black hair in the driver seat. The vehicle then turned around again going eastbound at which time Officer activated his overhead lights. As soon as Officer turned his lights on the vehicle did another circle in the roadway and fled from Officer w/b on 8 Mile Rd in the eastbound lanes. The vehicle continued to flee from Officer s/b on Southfield Freeway where the pursuit was terminated. The vehicle involved was a Lime Green Colored Dodge Challenger, possible a hellcat edition. The vehicle had a distinct hood scoop on the hood of the vehicle. The driver was a young black male with short black hair. A suspect has been developed and incident is under investigation. 18 Special Attention: Fleeing & Eluding 04/23/2017 5:50pm & 8:08pm W Eight Mile Rd. & Evergreen Rd. Officer was on routine patrol in a semi marked Police vehicle when he observed numerous motorcycles congregated. (5:50pm) Officer was able to obtain one license plate at that time. The motorcycles were headed S/B on Evergreen Rd at a high rate of speed south of Ten Mile Rd. The motorcycles all fled at a high rate of speed onto S/B M-10 and Officer lost sight of them. Later this same day at 8:08pm Southfield Officers observed the same motorcycles that were involved in earlier incident getting gas at the Gas Station at 8 Mile & Southfield Rd. Officers ran all the plates on the motorcycles. Officers observed one motorcycle from earlier incident described as a Black BMW with a Michigan Plate that came back on a 2013 Yamaha Motorcycle. The driver was a male, with a white and black Alpine Star Jacket and a black helmet and blue jeans. As this motorcycle was leaving the gas station Officers attempted to stop it and it again for the second time this day fled from Officers. All of subjects paid cash for their gas. All the suspect motorcycles were Suzuki s except one was a Black BMW. Officers were able to obtain owner information on the Black BMW and incident is under investigation. Expired License/ CCW- 1- Arrest 04/17/ :42am Beck Rd. & Northwestern Hwy. Officer observed vehicle commit several traffic violations and ran plate on vehicle. There was a discrepancy on the description of the vehicle and the vehicle was stopped. After stopping the vehicle it was discovered that the driver had an Expired Driver s License and she was acting suspicious. After asking the driver to exit the vehicle and advising her that her license was expired Officer asked the driver if there were any narcotics in the vehicle. The driver stated no but there was a handgun in the glove box. Officer recovered a loaded handgun in glove compartment as well as a magazine in the passenger door pocket. The driver was arrested for Driving with Expired License & CCW.

19 Anyone with any information relating to this incident or any other incident in this Crime Report is asked to contact the Southfield Police Department Detective Bureau at Possession of Cocaine- 1- Arrest 04/17/2017 5:55pm W Eight Mile Rd. & Greenfield Rd. Officers while on routine patrol observed vehicle make several traffic violations. The vehicle was stopped. After stopping the vehicle the driver gave his information to Officer. The passenger was asked for his information as well and he stated he didn t have any. Further questioning to try and identify the passenger he was uncooperative. Officers questioned the driver if there were any narcotics in the vehicle. The driver made admissions to having a plastic bottle with the remains of some marijuana in it. Officers located a prescription pill bottle in the passenger's pants. The pill bottle contained prescription pills and suspected powdered cocaine. A search of the vehicle revealed a marijuana pipe as well as a grinder. (Narcotics Paraphernalia) A Southfield Police Evidence Technician Field Test a sample of the suspected cocaine with positive results. The three pills that were in the pill bottle were identified as a Schedule II Narcotic. The driver was released at this time and the passenger was arrested for Possession of Cocaine and possibly additional charges for being in possession of a controlled substance w/o a prescription.

20 Retail Fraud/ CCW- 1- Arrest 04/17/2017 8:45pm Block of Southfield Rd. (Department Store) Officers were dispatched to the above location reference a subject committing a Retail Fraud. Further information was given that the suspect has now left the store and is getting into a Tan Colored Chrysler. Officers arrived and located the suspect vehicle as it was backing out of its parking spot. Officers were able to get in front and behind suspect vehicle blocking it in. The suspect was taken into custody w/o incident. During the search of the vehicle incident to the arrest Officers located and recovered stolen merchandise from another Retail Fraud that occurred at same store as well as a Stun Gun that was located in the glove box. Today s incident involved suspect taking store merchandise and then going directly to the service desk where he returned the merchandise and was credited with gift cards. The gift cards were also recovered and returned to the store.

21 R&O/ Narcotics Paraphernalia/ Possession of Marijuana- 1- Arrest Inc.# 17/ /21/2017 8:09pm Block of Telegraph Rd. (Commercial- Landscaping) Officers were on routine patrol when they observed W/M leaning forward inside of a Monte Carlo parked at business. When they pulled up on vehicle the subject was still leaning forward inside the vehicle and the vehicle was parked on an angle across the yellow parking lines. When Officers approached the vehicle they could smell a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle. The driver was uncooperative with Officers, refused to exit his vehicle and stated there wasn t any marijuana in the car. The driver Resisted and Obstructed Officers and he was taken into custody. A search of suspect s vehicle resulted in the seizure of a plastic baggie containing suspected Marijuana and a pipe used for smoking the marijuana. Suspect stated he has a Michigan Marijuana Card however he couldn't produce one. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician Field Tested a sample of the suspected marijuana. The result was positive for possible presence of marijuana.

22 Possession of Cocaine & Heroin- 2- Arrests 04/21/ :44pm Telegraph Rd. & Civic Center Dr. Officers were on routine patrol in the area of Telegraph & Civic Center when they observed a vehicle cut in front of them without signaling. Officers also observed that the vehicle had a paper plate that was unreadable and crumpled up. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. After approaching the vehicle Officers detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Officers obtained identification from the driver and it was discovered that he was a parole absconder out of Michigan Lansing Tether Unit. Dispatch confirmed and they will pick up subject. The driver was taken into custody. A Southfield Police K-9 Unit was called to the scene and conducted a sweep of the vehicle. K-9 hit on several areas of the interior of vehicle. Officers conducted a search of the passenger side door panel pocket and inside the door panel they located two plastic baggies with suspected heroin & cocaine. It was seized and samples from the two plastic baggies were separately Field Tested by a Southfield Police Evidence Technician. The result was positive for Cocaine & Heroin.
