2 Commercial Burglaries: Date/Time Address (block range) Method of Entry /Suspect Information 11/30/2018 3:51am Northwestern (Pharmacy) Front door was pried open. Officers arrived on scene and discovered good B&E. The suspects(s) were gone upon Officers arrival. Entry was through the front door, it was pried open. The interior showed signs of multiple drawers opened and items strewn about. A printer was removed from a bottom cabinet and thrown on the ground. There was also a refrigerator that had been left opened with items missing. No further information at this time. From: 11/23/2018 6:11pm To: 11/25/ :12pm Frederick St. (Administrative/ School) Window was broken out on school. R/P states she was informed by one of her teachers that a classroom door leading to the outside was found open and it appears someone had vandalized a classroom by sprinkling glitter all over the classroom. There was a foul order coming from a fish tank where the suspect had poured all the fish food inside the fish tank killing fish and snails. There were also several Nabis Tablets" that were missing. Video surveillance shows on 8:43am suspect was seen carrying a duffle bag and entering a class room. R/P recognized the suspect as a former student at the school. Suspect has been identified and incident is under investigation. 3 Home Invasion: Date/Time Address (block range) Method of Entry /Suspect Information From: 11/27/2018 6:00pm To: 11/28/2018 9:50am Everett St. Front door was forced or kicked in. Residence had a kitchen fire on 11/12/2018 and has not been occupied since the fire. Owner states he was at the house on 11/26/2018 at 6:00pm picking up his mail. When owner returned to the home the following day on 11/27/2018 at 9:50am he discovered the front door was kicked in and items missing from the home. Items missing included: 2- Flat Screen Televisions. 1- Brown leather couch from living room. 1- Dyson Vacuum from living room. 1-Black Glass to kitchen table with possible fire damage. 11/28/ :27pm Wildbrook Dr. (Condo s) Door lock was forced or pried open. Victim states she last saw her storage unit secured and intact on at 8:30pm. She discovered the storage unit broken into and items missing on at 10:15pm. Misc. clothing is missing from the storage unit. 12/01/ :17pm Sunnybrook Dr. Top right corner of screen-door was bent and the screen was ripped. Victim states she heard a loud banging as if someone was attempting to break into her back-screen door. Out of fear, victim didn t look out into the back yard. Victim also informed Officers that about a week ago her daughter heard what sounded like a male and a female talking in their back yard during the night. Entry wasn t gained into residence. No suspect information.

4 From: 11/30/ :00am To: 12/02/2018 4:00pm Cornell Rd. Rear door was kicked in. Victim states sometime between 4:00pm someone forced entry into residence that was up for sale. Recent showings had been done and several showings were scheduled for the future. Several appliances were stolen during this incident. 1. Maytag Fridge. 2. Maytag Stove. 3. Samsung Washer/Dryer. 4. Furnace 5. 5 Automobile Thefts: Date/Time Address (block range) Year, Make, Model Details From: 11/26/2018 7:00pm To: 11/27/2018 1:00pm Basin St. (Residential- Apartments) S - Stolen Manufacturer HYUNDAI Model SONATA Color BLU - Blue Vehicle Year 2011 Body Style 4D - 4 Door State MI License Year HYUNDAI SONATA 4DR BLUE Victim states sometime between 7:00pm and the following day at 1:00pm someone stole her 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The vehicle was parked at victims Apartment Complex. From: 11/27/2018 1:30am To: 11/27/2018 8:00am Carriage Lamp Dr. (Residential- Apartments) M - Missing Value Manufacturer DODGE Model JOURNEY Color Vehicle Year 2017 Body Style State MI Stolen Green Dodge Journey R/P states his father is the owner of the vehicle but he is the primary driver. On 1:30am he parked the vehicle in the Block of Carriage Lamp Dr. where his girlfriend lives. At 8:00am when he returned to the vehicle it was gone. The vehicle was entered as missing only because R/P wasn t the actual owner.

6 From: 11/30/2018 3:00am To: 11/30/2018 7:30am Telegraph Rd. (Motel) S - Stolen Manufacturer VOLKSWAGEN Model CC Vehicle Year 2016 Body Style State MI License Year BLK VW CC Victim states he arrived at Hotel in the Block of Telegraph Rd. at approx. 3:00am and met with a female friend. Victim left his vehicle parked outside of his room and kept it locked. His keys were in his pants pocket which were left on the floor of the room. Victim woke up at 7:00am and discovered the female friend was gone and his keys had been taken from his pocket and his vehicle was gone. 7 Larceny: Date/Time Address (block range) Item Taken Details 11/30/2018 5:00am La Seine (Apartments) Attempted to take Wheels & Tires from 2012 Dodge Ram P.U Truck. Officers were dispatched to the Block of La Seine on a report of a LFA in progress. Dispatch advised a Dark Colored Dodge Charger with a headlight out was involved. The suspect vehicle was located and stopped in the lot and one of the suspects was arrested. The second suspect fled on foot and was located a short time later by Officers. He too was arrested and numerous items were recovered. Note: Both suspects are Southfield Residents. Southfield Detectives interviewed both suspects and both made admissions to working in concert to take the Wheels & Tires from victims Dodge Ram P.U.

8 12/01/2018 2:18pm Southfield Rd. (Commercial- Restaurant) S - Stolen Value Cash US Currency R/P (employee) states suspect came in and sat at a table in the corner. He then got up and moved to a table near the cash register. R/P went into the kitchen for a moment and turned her back on suspect. The suspect opened the cash register drawer and removed an undisclosed amount of cash. R/P witnessed this and ran to the front of the restaurant to block the exit. The suspect shoved the R/P out of the way of the door and fled the scene. Suspect : B/M approx. 55 y.o.a., 5-9 clean shaven, wearing a black coat with a blue hoodie underneath and a grey knit hat.

9 11/27/2018 5:36pm (Two incidents, appears to be same suspects.) Block of Southfield Rd. (Commercial Cell Phone) Southfield Rd. (Commercial- Fast Food) S - Stolen Manufacturer Several Cell Phones R/P (employee) states she observed four younger B/M's enter his store and take one of the iphones on display. R/P believes that the taller male in the group is the one who stole the phone. He stated, "I didn't steal nothing" as he was walking out the door. Note: (A Second Incident occurred nearby across the street.) Approx. 20 minutes later two I Phone 6's were stolen from Fast Food Business across the street by 4-6 B/M's. Victim in second incident had 2- I Phone 6 s on the table when 4-6 B/M s came up from behind him, took the phones and fled on foot. An employee witnessed the incident and stated two of the suspects ordered food so they should have surveillance video. Appears to be same suspects in both incidents. Incidents are under investigation.

10 11/27/2018 3:03pm Auburn Ln. S - Stolen Cash Victim states she had agreed to buy a sewing machine from a business associate for a sum of money. The victim had already taken possession of the sewing machine and has had it for approx. a month but hadn t paid for it yet. Victim states on 11/27/2018 the person she owed the money to stole the exact amount of money she owed to her out of her bedroom dresser drawer. 11/27/2018 7:20pm San Carlos S - Stolen Package from UPS Victim reports he received confirmation from UPS that a package he ordered was delivered to his residence in the Block of San Carlos. It was delivered on 11/13/2018 at 2:11pm. Victim never received the package, appears it was stolen from front porch. 11/26/2018 9:00am Northland Dr. (Office Building) S - Stolen Stolen Catalytic Converter Taken from 2006 Honda CRV Victim states sometime between 9:00am-6:15pm someone stole her catalytic converter from her 2006 Honda CRV. The vehicle was parked at Office Building in the Block of Northland Dr.

11 From: 11/28/2018 8:40am To: 11/28/2018 9:02am Providence Dr. (Medical Building) S Stolen from 2015 Chevy Express Van: 8- New Thermostats 1- Field Piece Digital Refrigerant Gauges 1- Sawzall 1- Cordless Drill Set Officers were dispatched to the Block of Providence Dr. for an LFA Report. (Medical Building) Officers met with Hospital Security and reviewed their surveillance video of incident. The suspect arrived in a Gray Dodge Journey at approx. 8:40am. The vehicle pulled into the parking spot next to the victim's vehicle, a 2015 White Chevy Express Van. Suspect exited the Gray Dodge Journey and walked to the victim's car. The suspect approached the driver side of the victim's car and busted out the driver side window. The suspect then entered the vehicle and took several items from the vehicle. Video surveillance captured the license plate on the suspect vehicle. The license plate returned to a 2018 Dodge Journey. A suspect has been developed and incident is under further investigation. From: 11/26/ :00pm To: 11/28/ :49pm W Thirteen Mi. (Assisted Living) S - Stolen Manufacturer Apple Model 6s Serial No. License No. Color SIL - Silver or Aluminum Silver I Phone 6s Victim states she last saw her I Phone 6-S on 11/26/2018 at 12:00pm. She discovered it missing on 11/28/2018 at 12:49pm. It was kept in the bottom drawer of her night stand. Victim did not see anyone take the phone. Multiple people including her roommate had access to the drawer.

12 From: 11/28/2018 4:40pm To: 11/28/2018 7:30pm Lahser Rd. (Southfield Public School) S - Stolen Red I Phone XR Victim last saw his cell phone on 11/28/2018 at approx. 4:40pm while at School. It was inside his gym bag which was placed into an unlocked locker. At approx.7:30pm, he noticed the phone was gone. Victim tracked the phone to two locations but the phone wasn t recovered. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Students should never leave their cell phones in an unlocked locker while at school!!! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> From: 11/29/2018 5:30am To: 11/29/2018 7:15am W Nine Mile Rd. (Residential- Apartments) S - Stolen -Echo straight shaft trim -Echo backpack left blower -Stihl pole pruner Victim states sometime between 5:30am- 7:15am someone stole Landscaping Equipment from the bed of his 1994 GMC Sierra Truck. Suspect(s) broke the lock that secured items to a chain. No suspect information.

13 11/29/ :30pm Westbrook Pkwy. Cash was taken. Victim advised that on 11/29/2018, at about 12:30am a female that he was dating came over to his mother's house. He went to sleep and when he woke up he saw this person looking around his room. When the female noticed that victim was watching her, she ran out the house with an undisclosed amount of cash belonging to victim. Victim states he has video evidence of his girlfriend admitting she stole the money. On 12/01/2018 victim also discovered that two of his tires were slashed on his 2017 Chevy Cruze. Suspect has been identified and incident is under investigation. From: 11/29/2018 9:00pm To: 11/30/2018 3:30pm Fairfax St. S - Stolen Stolen license MI plate: Victim states sometime between 11/29/2018 9:00pm- 11/30/2018 3:30pm someone stole the license plate off victims 2005 Cadillac. No suspect information.

14 11/30/2018 3:19pm Knob Woods Dr. (Residential- Apartments) S - Stolen Whirlpool Dryer >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> S - Stolen Kenmore Stacked Washer/Dryer >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Victim states she was storing her Whirlpool Dryer and her Kenmore Stacked Washer & Dryer at her friend s apartment. (20000 Block of Knob Woods Dr.) Victims friend let a friend of her son stay at her apartment and that s when victim s appliances came up missing. The suspect stated that two men came into the apartment and took the appliances? The subject staying at victim s friend s apartment is a person of interest. He has been identified. From: 11/30/2018 7:00pm To: 11/30/2018 7:20pm Southfield Rd. (Commercial- Gas Station) S - Stolen Display Stand for Sunglasses R/P (employee) states a W/M came into the gas station and took a display stand with sunglasses on and put it in his car. R/P approached suspect about the items saying they bought them as part of their inventory. The male then brought the boxes of sunglasses back into the store but left with the sunglasses display stand. Suspect : W/M, 6'-0, long black beard, medium build, dark cargo pants, boots, dark skull cap. Suspect Vehicle: Suspect fled in a White Ford Transit with a Michigan Plate.

15 12/02/2018 1:00pm Civic Center Dr. (Retirement Living Apartments) Entry through unlocked door. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Families of persons that are living at Retirement Homes or Assisted Living Complexes should be certain to make sure their loved one s valuables are secured and not left out. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Victim states on 12/02/2018 at 1:00am, she was inside her apartment and heard the door to her apartment close. When she went to investigate, she discovered her purse missing which was right by the door. Her purse was a blue leather purse. Inside the purse was a black vinyl wallet which contained her Michigan Driver License, Credit Card, 2- Bank Cards, Cash, and her vehicle registration and insurance. Also in her purse, was a heart shaped plastic case containing valuable collection coins. R/p thinks it was an employee because the exterior doors are locked at 7:00pm every night. Tips: Ensure your vehicle is locked at all times and valuables are out of sight. Thieves wait for the right time and will move quickly Even if playing sports at a park ensure your vehicle is locked

(Grocery & Goods) SR - Both Stolen and Recovered Manufacturer LG Model Serial No. License No. Color BLK - Black Vehicle Year Body Style State License Year Black LG Cell Phone Recovered Date/Time 11/26/2018 6:00pm Location Block Telegraph Rd. Notes Cell phone recovered damaged! Officers were dispatched to the location on a report of a robbery that just occurred. The victim stated she was robbed of her cell phone in the parking lot of business in the Block of Telegraph Rd. Victim stated that the suspect held her hand inside her jacket and stated that she had a gun. The victim believed that the suspect possibly walked into business. Upon arrival, Officers conducted an area check and located a person matching the description of suspect going in the stores restroom. She was later stopped after she exited the store. Officers recovered suspects pink scarf which had been discarded in the trash inside the bathroom. The suspect was placed under arrest and the victim s cellphone was recovered. The suspect was lodged in the Southfield Jail.

17 From: 11/29/2018 1:15am To: 11/29/2018 1:45am American Dr. (Hotel) Cash was alleged to have been taken. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Note: Citizens that falsely report a crime can be charged with Filing a False Police Report & Obstructing Justice! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Officers were dispatched to Hotel in the Block of American Dr. on a report of a Robbery. Victim stated he was in town on business. He had drinks at the Hotel Bar and went up to his Hotel Room for the night at 12:30pm. While he was in his room he heard a knock on his door. When he cracked his door open to see who it was a black female pushed her way through the door and produced a black semi-auto pistol and pointed it at him. She then requested he open his wallet and give her the money inside. Victim pulled out his wallet and gave her all of the money inside. She saw a debit card in the wallet and asked him how much he could withdraw from the card. He told her how much he could withdraw. The female then made him go down to the ATM located in the hallway by the lobby and withdraw cash. While going to the ATM the female followed, she tucked the pistol somewhere on her person but he did not know where. After victim withdrew the money the two returned to his room where he gave her the money. She then left the room in an unknown direction. Officers were suspicious of victims accounting of what happened for several reasons and because he changed his story and couldn t provide a detailed description of the suspect. (Possibly Solicitation gone bad.) Officers reviewed surveillance video from the hotel and saw victim withdraw money from the

18 Tips: Always be aware of your surroundings and report suspicious incidents or persons to your local police. If something doesn t appear right or someone looks like they are up to no good, call the police immediately Trust your intuition ATM three times. Two of the times he was by himself. One time he was with a W/F which is contrary to him saying the suspect was a B/F. At one point the two could be seen together and they were laughing. Victim didn t seem to be in any distress. Southfield Detectives conducted follow up investigation. After reviewing the surveillance video, it was determined that the victims accounting of what happened is not correct, he wasn t being truthful and the incident never occurred. The alleged victim hasn t return phone calls since being questioned about his story!

19 Unarmed Robbery: 11/29/ :38am Lahser Rd. (Residential- Apartment Complex) Pizza, Cheese Stix s, Brownies in a Pizza bag. Victim is an employee of Business. (Pizza Delivering Person) At approx. 11:50pm on 11/28/2018, she received a phone call for a pizza order. It was a male on the phone who gave only a first name. He gave an address in the Block of Lahser Rd. The order was completed and employee (victim) met with person that placed the order, just outside the lobby in front of his Apartment Building. The subject said hi and stated his name. (Same as what he gave on the phone) He attempted to pay for order with a counterfeit $ Bill. Victim immediately recognized the bill as a counterfeit. Victim got into a verbal argument with subject about the counterfeit bill and he pushed her and took the pizza order that was in a Business Pizza Bag. The suspect fled into the Apartment Building. Officers attempted to locate suspect at the apartment that he gave business when he placed his order with negative results. 21 11/27/2018 5:53pm Telegraph Rd. (Multi- Office Building) Suspect attempted to take victims purse. Victim came into the front desk to report incident. Victim states on 5:53pm she was getting in her car at Office Complex in the Block of Telegraph Rd. when a male attempted to grab her purse and run away with it. The male was described as 5-8, small to medium build, wearing a dark shirt and pants, he also had a winter hat on and was carrying a gray backpack. The suspect did not get the purse and ran towards Ten Mile Rd. Tips: Always be aware of your surroundings and report suspicious incidents or persons to your local police

22 Be on the Look Out Highlights: Special Attention: Southfield Police Department launches Operation Safe Kids focusing on School Bus Safety News Release Date: November 13, 2018 Subject: Southfield Police launches Operation Safe Kids Contact: Brian Bassett, Acting Chief of Police (SOUTHFIELD, Mich.) The Southfield Police Department is partnering with Southfield Public Schools to launch Operation Safe Kids, a new initiative focusing on school bus safety. Arrests by SPD Officers: OWI= Operate While Impaired OUIN= Operate Under Influence Narcotics LFA= Larceny from Auto R&C= Receiving & Concealing Stolen Property DWLS= Driving with Suspended License A&B= Assault & Battery CSC= Criminal Sexual Conduct CCW/CPL= Carrying Concealed Weapon NOLOP= No Operator License on Person R/A= Robbery Armed RNA= Robbery Not Armed PWID= Possession with Intent to Deliver PPO= Personal Protection Order PBT= Preliminary Breath Test R/P= Reporting Party VCSA= Violation Controlled Substance Act Beginning in mid-november, the Southfield Police Department will deploy officers in unmarked vehicles along bus routes to ensure motorists obey school bus safety laws. The unmarked police cars will be working in conjunction with marked police cars to identify and ticket drivers. In Michigan, a violation for passing a school bus displaying flashing red lights is $335 and three points on the driver s license.

23 Considering recent tragedies involving children at bus stops, the police department has collaborated with our school system to enforce school bus safety and bring greater awareness to motorists, stated Acting Police Chief Brian Bassett. Our children s safety is our greatest priority. Police officers will be looking for motorists who fail to properly observe school bus signals as well as school zone speed limits. When a bus s overhead lights are flashing yellow, drivers should prepare to stop. When overhead lights are flashing red, drivers should stop at least 20 feet away from busses, unless driving in the opposite direction on a divided highway. When hazard warning lights are flashing, drivers may proceed with caution. Motorists should also slow down in school zones and residential areas and watch for children walking in the street, especially in areas where there are no sidewalks. DWLS/ Possession of Marijuana & Crack Cocaine 11/26/2018 1:15am W Eight Mile Rd. & Greenfield Rd. Officers stopped vehicle for being Improperly License. After stopping the vehicle and contacting the driver, it was discovered that her driver s license was suspended. The driver was taken into custody for DWLS. Further investigation by Officers, they discovered that victim s wallet contained several plastic baggies with suspected cocaine and they recovered two plastic baggies with suspected marijuana in a purse that was on the passenger seat. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician Field Tested the suspected substances. Both tested positive. 24 Special Attention: Larceny of Packages that were ordered and delivered via Common Carrier. How to prevent this from happening to you! Recently several citizens have had packages that were delivered to their residences and apartments stolen prior to them retrieving the packages. Citizens can prevent this from happening by scheduling a specific time to have the package delivered and be waiting for the package. Citizen can also schedule the package to be picked up by themselves at the common carrier facility. Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine- 1- Arrest 12/01/2018 6:28am Block of Cornerstone Village Dr. (Condo s) Officers were dispatched to the location to assist Southfield Detectives, Southfield SERT Team and DEA Agents with a Search Warrant in the Block of Cornerstone in Southfield and another location in Pontiac. The Search Warrant was executed in Southfield and four subjects were detained w/o incident and turned over to Detectives. Upon execution of the Search Warrant in Pontiac, the SERT Team entered, cleared and secured this location. This location was unoccupied. A Southfield Police K-9 was deployed at this location for Narcotic Detection. K-9 began searching and gave positive alerts at several locations in the residence. Detectives and DEA Agents commenced their search and upon searching the areas that K-9 had alerted, suspected Cocaine, Marijuana and scales used for measuring were confiscated. Several Cell Phones, Rolex Watch & Cash were also recovered from scene. One suspect from the residence in Southfield was arrested for Possession w/ Intent to Deliver Cocaine.

25 Special Attention: Larceny from Vehicles How to prevent this from happening to you! -Citizens should never leave anything of value inside their vehicle. (Especially Handguns, Purses, Wallets, Cash & Cell Phones!) - If you have a garage you should park your vehicle in the garage and lock the garage. - Wheel Locks are a deterrent but don t leave the wheel lock key in the interior of your vehicle, especially the center console or glove box. This is the first place they will look for the wheel lock. -After parking your vehicle turn your wheels all the way to the right or the left. This will make it difficult to get the lug nuts off the front wheels. -If you don t have a garage, try to park your vehicle as close to your residence as possible Special Attention: Larceny of Catalytic Converters! Recently we have seen an increase in Larceny of Catalytic Converters. The M.O. in most cases, the suspect(s) will park next to the attacked vehicle and the passenger will exit suspect vehicle with a portable electric saw. Suspect will immediately crawl under the attacked vehicle and cut the catalytic converter off the vehicle, get back into suspect vehicle and flee the area. The suspect vehicle in several of the incidents has been a Mini Van (Chrysler Town & Country) with a sliding side door making it easy to get in and out with the catalytic converter. A recent incident that occurred in the Block of Greenfield Rd the victim was walking back out to her car and observed a light brown sedan, occupied by three individuals parked next to her vehicle. As she approached her vehicle the vehicle and suspects fled the area. Victim discovered her catalytic converter had been cut off right after this. Citizens that observe subjects under a vehicle should not confront or scare the suspect(s) away. Immediately call 911 and report as much information as possible. Stay on the phone with police dispatch and continue to give updates until the Police arrive on scene. -If you here any loud noises near where your vehicle is parked, especially during the late night or early morning hours, attempt to look outside without alerting anyone and if someone is tampering with your vehicle immediately call 911, (Do Not Approach or Scare the Suspects Away) give Police Dispatchers as much information about the suspect(s) and

26 suspect vehicles as you can. Stay on the phone with Dispatchers until the Police arrive. -Lots of lighting around the area(s) that you park your vehicles is also very beneficial. Criminals don t like to work in well lighted areas. They prefer to work in darkness because it s difficult to see them.
