2 Commercial Burglaries: Date/Time Address (block range) Method of Entry Description/Suspect Information 12/19/2017 7:22pm 12/19/2017 9:50pm W Twelve Mile (Church) Screen removed and entry through unlocked window W Twelve Mile Rd Screen was removed and entry through unlocked window. A member from the church was checking an activated alarm when he came across unknown W/M suspect in the church. The suspect fled the building out the rear north entrance. The suspect was later arrested for this B&E and several other unrelated commercial B&E s. See incident below. Several Officers and a Southfield Police K-9 Officer responded to alarm in the Block of W Twelve Mile Rd. The alarm checked secure but because of the recent B&E at a nearby church where suspect fled, Officers began checking other businesses and discovered an open door that appeared to have been pried open. K-9 Officer and his K-9 conducted a building search. K-9 immediately went to the second floor of the business and began to give a proximity alert indicating air scent. As K-9 entered the second-floor hallway K-9 Officer observed the tip of a brown boot retreat into the far northwest office room of the building. K-9 Officer immediately gave an additional K-9 announcement and ordered the suspect to come out. A W/M matching the description of suspect from earlier B&E at a church stepped out of the room and was ordered to the floor. The suspect complied and was taken into custody w/o incident. The suspect was later interviewed by Detectives and he made admissions to the B&E at the church and the

3 B&E of several offices within the building he was apprehended. Suspect was processed and lodged at the Southfield Jail. From: 12/18/2017 2:00am To: 12/20/ :45am Telegraph Rd. (Storage Trailer) 22 Snow Blower was taken. Victim states he keeps a storage trailer with his snow removal equipment behind the business. Sometime between 2:00am- 10:45am someone cut off the lock to storage trailer and took a snow blower. 4 Home Invasion: Date/Time Address (block range) Method of Entry Description/Suspect Information 12/23/2017 4:54pm W Eight Mile Rd. (Apartments) Apartment door was pried open. Victim states sometime between 12:00pm- 4:00pm someone forced entry into her apartment by prying open the hallway door. Items are missing from the apartment. From: 12/23/2017 1:00am To: 12/23/ :00am (Auto Theft Also) Mulroy Dr. S - Stolen Manufacturer Husqvarna Model 250 License No. Color WHI - White Vehicle Year 2016 Description Dirt Bike Investigation revealed the homes attached garage was attacked on 12/23/2017 between 1:00am and 10:00am. Suspect pried the locked door to gain access to the garage. A 2016 Blue & White Husqvarna 250 Dirt Bike was taken from the garage. Victim had the dirt bike for sale on Craig s List. Victim thinks that a subject that called and inquired about buying the dirt bike is responsible. After giving subject his address and setting up a date and time for subject to come and look at the dirt bike, the subject never showed up and there was no further contact with the subject. Shortly after this, victim s garage was broken into and the dirt bike was stolen. Victim had several other dirt bikes in the garage and this was the only dirt bike that was taken. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Citizens should be careful when buying or selling anything on Craigslist. Citizens when arranging to meet with someone should never give them your address. Meet at a safe location like your local Police Department.

Management forgot to tell the owner. The vehicle was never stolen. Officers were dispatched to the Block of Telegraph Rd. (Fitness Center) to investigate Auto Theft. Victim states his keys to his vehicle were taken out of his coat pocket in the locker room and someone stole his vehicle. Officers reviewed video from business and discovered the suspect arrived in a Blue Chrysler Pacifica. After running the plate on suspect s vehicle, it was discovered that it was a confirmed stolen out of Detroit. The video shows a B/M in a tan Carhart coat, blue Jeans and a black knit hat walk out of the gym at 12:34:12. The suspect is now looking all over the parking lot and you see the tail lights blink on victims Impala. At 12:41:23 the Impala can be seen leaving the parking lot onto S.B. Telegraph. The suspect is a B/M, 6'-1'', 210 lbs., mid 20's. He was wearing light tan Carhart jacket, blue jean

7 Description Recovered 2004 Chrysler Pacifica Notes Recovered stolen for Detroit pants with white pockets and a black knit hat. Officers recovered the suspects jacket and placed it into evidence. At one point during the review of the video when the suspect was inside the Fitness Center the suspect looks directly at the camera near the front desk. On 12/18/2017 at approx. 4:44pm the stolen Chevy Impala was recovered by OCSD at a hospital in Oakland County. No arrests were made. The vehicle was intact. 12/19/ :36pm Providence Dr. (Apartments) A Attempt Auto Theft Manufacturer DODGE Model CARAVAN Color DBL - Dark Blue Vehicle Year 2004 Body Style State MI License Year Description 2004 DODGE CARAVAN BLUE Victim states sometime between 3:30pm and the following morning at 9:45am someone attempted to steal her vehicle. The suspect(s) damaged the driver s door lock and the ignition. The vehicle was parked in the underground parking lot at victims Apartment Complex.

8 12/19/2017 1:07pm Providence Dr. A Attempt Auto Theft Manufacturer CHRYSLER Model TOWN & COUNTRY Color BLK - Black Vehicle Year 2007 Body Style State MI License Year Description Black 2007 Chrysler Town and Country Victim states that sometime between 4:30pm and 12:15pm his 2007 Chrysler Town and Country was broken into. Victim discovered that the vehicle was broken into and states that the vehicle's driver door exterior lock and ignition were damaged. The vehicle was parked in the underground lot at victims Apartment Complex. 12/21/2017 1:00pm Telegraph Rd. (Car Rental) S - Stolen Manufacturer Toyota Model Rav4 Color WHI - White Vehicle Year Body Style State IL Description White 2017 Toyota Rav4 The rental vehicle was supposed to be returned on 11/04/2017. Letters were sent to the person who leased the vehicle. The vehicle hasn t been returned. The suspect has been identified and the vehicle was entered into the system as stolen. Tips: Never leave your vehicle running unattended Park in areas where your vehicle is viewable if possible Use commercially available security devices

Victim states he met a subject at the Southfield Library. The subject was supposed to sell him a Smartphone for an undisclosed amount of money. Victim gave subject cash and he received the phone. The phone didn t work. Victim checked at a local cellular store and they advised him that it was fake. Victim states that the whole deal was done through Facebook. 10 From: 12/18/2017 8:00pm To: 12/19/2017 6:30am Franklin Rd. (Apartments) All Four Wheels & Tires were taken from 2018 Dodge Ram P.U. Truck. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Citizens that have wheel locks should never leave the lock in their center console or glove box. It should be secured in a place that it would be very difficult to find. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> On 12/19/2017 Officers were dispatched to the Block of Franklin (Apartments) regarding LFA of Wheels & Tires from a 2018 Dodge Ram P.U Truck. The vehicle was discovered resting on gray cinderblocks. The vehicle's rear driver side window was broken out and the wheel lock key was removed from the center console of the vehicle and used to remove Wheels & Tires. Incident occurred sometime between 8:00pm and the following morning at 6:30am. 12/20/2017 2:28am Telegraph Rd. (Car Dealership) Attempted to take All Four Wheels & Tires from 2018 Dodge Challenger. Several Officers were dispatched to an alarm at Car Dealership in the Block of Telegraph. Information from alarm company there were two males on camera going over the fence into the closed secured parking lot. The males were seen leaving a Black SUV parked on the north side of the building along a brick wall outside the gated area. The males were observed via surveillance video passing landscaping bricks, and a toolbox over the fence into the dealership parking lot. The males then approached a White Challenger and began to set up to take off the wheels from the Challenger. The males were described as one W/M and one B/M wearing black hoodies and jeans. While Officers were in route the suspects were in the process of taking the front passenger wheel off the Challenger. Officers arrived and set up a perimeter around

11 the dealership. Information was given to Officers that the suspects were now running through the dealership parking lot. Officers located one suspect inside the secured area of the dealership and took him into custody. Officers located the second suspect running from the dealership. He was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit. Tools, bricks and other evidence was recovered from the scene. 12/20/2017 2:06pm W Twelve Mile (Church) S Stolen License Plate Description Michigan License Plate. Victim states sometime between 7:00am- 1:57pm someone stole victims license plate off her 2007 Ford Focus. 12/21/2017 3:01pm Inc.# 17/ Everett St. 2- Common Carrier Packages were taken from victim s porch. Victim states her neighbor witnessed a vehicle stop and pick up a female from his neighbor s house in the Block of Everett. Witness also observed two males exit the same vehicle and take 2- Common Carrier Packages from victim s porch. Suspect vehicle was a Black Jeep or Kia. Suspects- 2- Males (no further description)

12 12/23/ :17am Waycross 1-Common Carrier Package was taken from the front porch. Victim states sometime during the day on 12/19/2017 someone stole a package from the front porch that was delivered by Common Carrier. 12/23/2017 1:51am Camden Sq. (Apartments) 1-Common Carrier Package was taken from victim s apartment door. Victim states sometime between 4:50pm- 9:30pm someone stole her package that was delivered to her apartment at 4:50pm. From: 12/18/ :00am To: 12/23/2017 1:00am New Hampshire S - Stolen Description Handgun Victim states sometime between 10:00am- 1:00am someone stole his handgun which was under a hat on his nightstand. Victim states the only other person that was in his house between those times was his girlfriend. The girlfriend denied taking the handgun. No signs of any forced entry. 12/23/2017 5:05pm Greenfield Rd. (Shopping Plaza) S Stolen License Plate from 2013 Chevy Malibu. Description Michigan License Plate Victim states she parked her vehicle in the Shopping Plaza parking lot in the Block of Greenfield Rd. at 4:00pm. Upon returning to her vehicle a short time later victim noticed the license plate had been stolen off her 2013 Chevy Malibu. Tips: Ensure your vehicle is locked at all times and valuables are out of sight. Thieves wait for the right time and will move quickly Even if playing sports at a park ensure your vehicle is locked

14 Be on the Look Out Highlights: Special Attention: Home Invasions There were two Home Invasions this past week at the Apartment Complex in the Block of W. Eight Mile Rd. Both incidents appear to be daytime Home Invasions. 1) Block of W Eight Mile Rd. Victim states sometime between 12:00pm- 4:00pm someone forced entry into her apartment by prying open the hallway door. TV and a Firestick are missing from the apartment. 2) Block of W Eight Mile Rd. 15 Special Attention: Larceny of Packages that were ordered and delivered via Common Carrier. How to prevent this from happening to you! Recently several citizens have had packages that were delivered to their residences and apartments stolen prior to them retrieving the packages. Citizens can prevent this from happening by scheduling a specific time to have the package delivered and be waiting for the package. Citizen can also schedule the package to be picked up by themselves at the common carrier facility. Assault with Intent to Murder: 12/20/ :45pm Block of Lake Ravines Dr. B/M suspect was at a residence in the Block of Lake Ravines acting irrational. The homeowners, who did not know who the B/M was, called the police to report this incident giving the description of the male and his vehicle. Officers arrived to find the suspicious person had left. A short time later another call came in from another residence on Lake Ravines reporting the same suspicious person was there. Officers found the vehicle with the male driving. A female witness was flagging down Officers pointing to another female stating, she is shot. Another female approached who had an apparent gunshot wound. The female was taken to the hospital for treatment and the male was taken into custody. Detectives were called in and the investigation is ongoing.

16 Special Attention: Crime Prevention Tip s for the Holidays! With the Holidays approaching citizens should be extra careful when shopping. Citizens should never leave anything of value inside the compartment area of their vehicle. If you must leave valuables in the car be sure to put them in the trunk. If you don t have a trunk then I would recommend you take items home. Women should be extra careful when carrying a purse. Don t ever carry your purse over your shoulder and don t ever leave your purse in a shopping cart unattended. You are an easy target for someone to take your purse or take your wallet from your purse. I would recommend that citizens not carry a purse; instead they should carry a wallet or something that can be concealed from thieves. OWI/ CCW/ Possession of Marijuana/ No License Never Applied- 1- Arrest Officer observed vehicle commit several traffic violations. After following vehicle onto S/B M-10 the vehicle accelerated up to speeds above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was also observed weaving in and out of its lane. Officer initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle was very slow to stop. The vehicle eventually pulled over onto the right shoulder just before the S/B M-39 entrance ramp. After approaching vehicle Officer could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, there were ashes on the driver s lap, and there was a plastic baggie w/ suspected marijuana in plain view on the floorboard between the driver s legs. The driver didn t have a valid driver s license. He was given several sobriety tests to perform and was given a PBT. (Preliminary Breath Test) The result of the PBT was over the legal limit. Officers recovered the suspected marijuana and also recovered a Stun Gun from the glovebox. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician Field Tested the suspected marijuana. The result was positive for possible presence of marijuana. The driver was taken into custody for OWI/ CCW/ Possession of Marijuana/ No License Never Applied. The driver refused a Breath Test. A search warrant for a blood draw was secured and completed.

17 Assault with Intent to Murder- 1- Arrest 12/24/2017 2:48am American Dr. & W Eleven Mile Rd. (Pebble Creek Park) Officers were dispatched to Hospital regarding subject that was possibly stabbed in Southfield. Investigation revealed that victim and his friend had met with two females on the Tender Website. (Escort Service) The four subjects met and drove around Southfield, smoked some weed and drank before finally ending up at Pebble Creek Park. Victim was in the back seat with suspect when she stabbed victim with a pocket knife. Suspect then fled the vehicle and ran into the woods. Victim and his friend immediately drove to the hospital for treatment. The two females were later located and interviewed. The female that stabbed victim was taken into custody for Assault with Intent to Murder. Southfield Detectives were called in and Incident is under investigation.
