2 Commercial Burglaries: Date/Time Address (block range) Method of Entry /Suspect Information From: 11/19/2018 3:14am To: 11/19/2018 3:16am W Eight Mile Rd. (Commercial Grocery) A White Box Truck was used to back through the wall of business. Officers were dispatched to the Block of Eight Mile Rd. (Grocery Store) on a report of an alarm. (3:14am) Upon arrival, Officers observed a large hole in front of the building. (point of entry). A review of the surveillance footage showed a Large White Box Truck crashing through a brick wall at the business. An unknown male wearing dark clothing and a white mask exited the passenger side of the vehicle and attempted to take the ATM Machine. The suspect was unsuccessful and fled in an unknown direction in the White Box Truck. Note: While the Box Truck was lining up to ram the building, two dark colored, 4-dr sedans could be seen on W/B W Eight Mile Rd. The vehicles appeared to be waiting for the Box Truck. 3 Home Invasion: Date/Time Address (block range) Method of Entry /Suspect Information From: 11/20/2018 5:00pm To: 11/20/2018 7:50pm Evergreen Rd. Pushed in window air unit, first floor south side east end window. Victim states sometime between 5:00pm- 7:50pm someone forced entry into residence by pushing in A/C Unit on first floor window. Missing from the residence are 3- Soft Air Rifles. The rifles replicate M-14/ M-15 type of rifles. No suspect information. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> It should be noted that A/C Units that are the type that go inside windows can easily be pushed into the house allowing easy entry. Now that the hot weather is behind us, anyone with this type of A/C Unit should take the units out for the winter. Color BLK - Black BIG TEX TRAILER Stolen was an International Dump Truck, Commercial Trailer and a John Deer Skid Steerer. Vehicles had been left on the job site at the end of the day 11/21/2018. No suspect information. Follow up: The John Deer Skid Steerer was recovered on 3:16pm in Detroit by MSP. After the owner was notified of the recovery he searched the area and located his 1988 International S Series DM Dump Truck at the intersection of Plymouth Rd and Bert Rd. in Detroit. The ignition had been damaged. The trailer is the only thing still missing.

A Attempt Auto Theft Manufacturer FORD Model SRW SUPER DUTY Color Vehicle Year 2004 Body Style State MI 2004 Ford F-350 White Victim states she parked and locked her vehicle the night prior to incident at an unknown time. Victim states at 5:00am the following morning she was awakened by her dogs barking. (Most likely when incident happened) At 4:30pm victim went to her vehicle and found the locks on both driver and passenger sides had been stripped out and the ignition had been broken off. Tips: Never leave your vehicle running unattended Park in areas where your vehicle is viewable if possible Use commercially available security devices

Victim states sometime between 8:15am- 10:00am someone pried open a locked work tool box that was attached to victims 2009 Chevy Silverado and stole misc. tools. From: 11/24/2018 2:30pm To: 11/24/2018 3:30pm Greenfield Rd. (Commercial- Office/ Business) S - Stolen Count 1 Catalytic Converter from Ford Escape Victim states sometime between 2:30pm- 3:30pm someone stole the Catalytic Converter from his 2012 Ford Escape. The vehicle was parked at the Office Building at 9 mile & Greenfield Rd. 11/19/2018 2:19pm Franklin Rd. (Residential- Apartments) S - Stolen Value Cash MONEY ORDERS (2) On October 4, 2018 victim (Tenant) paid her rent with two money order. She placed an envelope containing the money orders in the afterhours drop box at approx. 2:50pm She became aware the checks were stolen upon being contacted by apartment management about her rent being due. Upon further investigation, she discovered one of the money orders had been fraudulently cashed by an unknown person.

Victim received a call from the Apartment Lobby Desk advising someone had turned in her luggage at the front desk. Victim retrieved her luggage and purse and discovered her cash, jewelry and a watch were missing from her purse. 11/20/2018 8:30am Creekside Dr. (Residential- Apartments) S Stolen Electricity/ DTE Meter >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Anyone with similar circumstances should notify their electric company. If you notice your electric bill is higher, and it s for no apparent reason, it could be that someone has done something similar. It is a crime to knowingly with intent to defraud the Electric Company or hook up your electricity to another person s property. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Victim contacted the Maintenance Department for her Apartment Complex after losing her power. Victim stated around 10:00pm maintenance discovered the wiring to the breakers was switched around by someone. The breaker to victim s apartment had been switched to another apartment. Electrical Company was notified.

In a brown leather belt holster Victim states he had a large party at his house on 11/21/2018. He had concealed his handgun in the basement. He later discovered someone had taken the handgun. Victim states nobody knows that he keeps his handgun there. Someone must have seen him put it there? No suspect information. From: 11/24/2018 2:00am To: 11/24/ :00am Telegraph Rd (Hotel) A pair of Shoe s and victim s wallet containing his Driver s License and several Credit Cards were taken. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Citizens should never leave anything of value, especially your wallet in the interior of your vehicle. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Victim states he arrived at Hotel in the Block of Telegraph Rd. on 11/24/2018 at 2:00am and parked his vehicle in the parking lot. The vehicle in question is a Gray 2018 Toyota Four Runner. He returned to his vehicle on the same day at 10:00am and discovered that his back window had been broken out with a brick. A pair of Shoe s and victim s wallet containing his Minnesota Driver s License and several Credit Cards were taken.

(Commercial Hall) Purse containing Cash, several Credit Cards, Medicaid Card and Prescription Medications. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Citizens should never leave their purses in their vehicles even if you re only going to be away from the vehicle for just a few minutes! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Victim advises she was making a delivery with her aunt at the Banquet Hall in the Block of W. Nine Mile Rd at 7:15pm. They parked and locked their vehicle prior to entering the location. Victim left her Purse in the vehicle. When they returned to the vehicle at 7:20pm victim noticed that the door lock on the driver s side of the vehicle had been tampered with and her purse was missing. Inside the purse was Cash, Credit Cards, a Michigan Enhanced Identification Card, house keys, a Michigan Bridge Card, a Medicaid Card and prescription medications. One of the credit cards was attempted to be used at a business in Detroit at 8:41pm. From: 11/20/2018 6:30pm To: 11/20/2018 7:00pm Galleria Officentre (Commercial- Office Center) Wallet containing the following items: STOLEN ITEMS: - Cash 1- Debit Card 1- Bank Card 2- Medical Insurance Cards 2- Michigan State Identification Cards Victim states her wallet was stolen on 11/20/2018 between 6:30pm- 7:00pm. Victim believes the wallet may have been stolen from her desk or a chair in the lobby. Leaving it out, especially in a business where there is a lot of traffic is a sure way to lose your phone! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Victim (employee) stated he left his cell phone on a couch in the show room. Victim was stocking a display when an unknown B/M (approx. 5'-5", short black hair, wearing a hat and a dark colored jacket) and an unknown female (no description) came into the store. The male was standing near the couch with victim s phone while female spoke with another employee. Victim had to leave the display to help a costumer at the Service Desk. At approx. 2:55pm victim observed the suspect leave the store for a moment then return. At approx. 3:00pm victim noticed his phone was missing. The suspects had already left the store. Victim located his phone at Southfield Rd. and Joy Rd. in Detroit via the Find My Phone App, but was unable to determine if it was at this location at the time of reporting. Tips: Ensure your vehicle is locked at all times and valuables are out of sight. Thieves wait for the right time and will move quickly Even if playing sports at a park ensure your vehicle is locked

(Residential- Apartments) S - Stolen Manufacturer BANK BANK DEBIT CARD >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> S - Stolen Manufacturer APPLE Model IPHONE 7 Color BLK - Black BLACK IPHONE 7 Victim states she was sitting inside her vehicle in the parking lot at her Apartment Complex in the Block of Lahser Rd. playing on her phone when a B/M approached her with a black handgun pointed at her. The B/M told her to roll down her window, and when she complied, he told her to give him everything. Victim handed suspect her Black iphone 7 and he asked her if she had anything else. Victim told suspect no, however he reached into her car through her driver s window and took a Bank Card that was sitting on her ash tray near the center council. The suspect then ran off E/B towards Lahser Rd. Victim described the suspect as a B/M about 6-'0, thin-average build, in his mid to upper 20's. He was wearing a black winter hat, a black and red hooded sweatshirt, and light blue jeans. Victim went onto Find My Phone App. and her phone pinged somewhere in Eastpoint, Mi. Nothing further about any follow up on that. Tips: Always be aware of your surroundings and report suspicious incidents or persons to your local police. If something doesn t appear right or someone looks like they are up to no good, call the police immediately Trust your intuition

13 Be on the Look Out Highlights: Special Attention: F/A w/ Motor Vehicle 11/25/ :00am Block of Evans St. Officers were sent out originally to the Block of Evans St. on a Civil Matter regarding ownership of a vehicle. Later Officers were dispatched back to this residence regarding F/A with Vehicle. Victim stated he was attempting to remove the license plate from vehicle that was parked in the driveway. The female suspect got into the vehicle, put the car in reverse and hit victim knocking him to the ground and causing his head to hit the ground. The victim had significant swelling to the back of the head and abrasions on his knuckles of his right hand. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician took photos of tire marks in the driveway and victim s injuries. The suspect wasn t located at this time. Suspect has been identified and incident is under further investigation. (Apartment Complex) Officers responded to location on a report of a Domestic Assault. It was determined that the male half physically assaulted the female half & there was Probable Cause for an arrest. The male had left prior to police arrival, most likely to his residence in Oak Park. Oak Park PD was notified of circumstances and the suspect was located at his residence in Oak Park. He was taken into custody by Oak Park PD and was later turned over to Southfield Officers for Domestic Assault.

14 Special Attention: Southfield Police Department launches Operation Safe Kids focusing on School Bus Safety News Release Date: November 13, 2018 Subject: Southfield Police launches Operation Safe Kids Contact: Brian Bassett, Acting Chief of Police (SOUTHFIELD, Mich.) The Southfield Police Department is partnering with Southfield Public Schools to launch Operation Safe Kids, a new initiative focusing on school bus safety. Beginning in mid-november, the Southfield Police Department will deploy officers in unmarked vehicles along bus routes to ensure motorists obey school bus safety laws. The unmarked police cars will be working in conjunction with marked police cars to identify and ticket drivers. In Michigan, a violation for passing a school bus displaying flashing red lights is $335 and three points on the driver s license. Domestic Assault- 1- Arrest 11/19/ :48am Block of Hampton Towne St. (Condo s) Officers were dispatched to a Domestic Assault in progress called in by the children. The caller stated that her mother was being thrown into the wall and assaulted by the father. Upon arrival, Officers conducted their Investigation and placed the male half under arrest w/o incident for Domestic Assault. Embezzlement- 1- Arrest 11/19/2018 2:55pm Block of Northwestern Hwy (Gas Station) R/P (Manager) was investigating an employee and he figured out that she was embezzling money through her Net Spend Reloadable Debit Card. R/P witnessed employee on video several times ringing up items for the customer, take money from the customer, and then void the transaction. She then placed the money in the cash register. Later, employee would then add the amount of money that she voided onto her Net Spend Card. There were several other incidents as well. Officers completed their Investigation and the Employee was taken into custody w/o incident for Embezzlement.

15 Considering recent tragedies involving children at bus stops, the police department has collaborated with our school system to enforce school bus safety and bring greater awareness to motorists, stated Acting Police Chief Brian Bassett. Our children s safety is our greatest priority. Police officers will be looking for motorists who fail to properly observe school bus signals as well as school zone speed limits. When a bus s overhead lights are flashing yellow, drivers should prepare to stop. Retail Fraud II/ CCW- 1- Arrest 11/20/2018 5:12pm Block of Greenfield Rd. (Grocery Store) Officer was sent to location to take custody of a subject who stole items from the store. Security from store observed suspect taking and concealing several razors. Officer completed his investigation and took the suspect into custody w/o incident for Retail Fraud. Note: During the search of suspect incident to the arrest Officer found a large fixed blade knife concealed in the subject s front pocket. When overhead lights are flashing red, drivers should stop at least 20 feet away from busses, unless driving in the opposite direction on a divided highway. When hazard warning lights are flashing, drivers may proceed with caution. Motorists should also slow down in school zones and residential areas and watch for children walking in the street, especially in areas where there are no sidewalks. For more information on Project Safe Kids, contact the Southfield Police Department non-emergency line at (248) Domestic Assault- 1- Arrest 11/22/2018 3:59pm Block of Coral Gables Officers were dispatched to location on a report of a Domestic Disturbance. Officers interviewed female half and male half and concluded that the male half assaulted female causing injury. The male half was taken into custody w/o incident for Domestic Assault.

16 Special Attention: Larceny of Packages that were ordered and delivered via Common Carrier. How to prevent this from happening to you! Recently several citizens have had packages that were delivered to their residences and apartments stolen prior to them retrieving the packages. Citizens can prevent this from happening by scheduling a specific time to have the package delivered and be waiting for the package. Citizen can also schedule the package to be picked up by themselves at the common carrier facility. Domestic F/A- 1- Arrest 11/22/2018 7:20pm Laura Ln. Officers were dispatched to location on a report of a Domestic Disturbance. Investigation revealed that two brothers got into a verbal dispute and their mother had to get in between them. One of the brothers (suspect) went to the kitchen and got a knife. When the mother tried to stop suspect he knocked her to the floor. When Officers arrived, they attempted to investigate the suspect. The suspect was uncooperative, interfered with Officers investigation and attempted to flee on foot. He was apprehended and when Officers attempted to take him into custody he resisted arrest. He was eventually hand-cuffed and taken into custody. The adult male was arrested for F/A Domestic and R&O. The suspect was lodged in the Southfield Jail. OWI- 1- Arrest 11/23/ :58pm Southfield Rd. & Mount Vernon St. Officers were dispatched to the location on a report of a single vehicle traffic crash. Upon arrival, Officers conducted their investigation and spoke with the driver. Officers suspected that she was intoxicated. An OWI investigation was conducted and the driver was given several sobriety tasks to perform. After completing their investigation, the driver was taken into custody for OWI.

17 Special Attention: Larceny from Vehicles How to prevent this from happening to you! -Citizens should never leave anything of value inside their vehicle. (Especially Handguns, Purses, Wallets, Cash & Cell Phones!) - If you have a garage you should park your vehicle in the garage and lock the garage. - Wheel Locks are a deterrent but don t leave the wheel lock key in the interior of your vehicle, especially the center console or glove box. This is the first place they will look for the wheel lock. -After parking your vehicle turn your wheels all the way to the right or the left. This will make it difficult to get the lug nuts off the front wheels. -If you don t have a garage, try to park your vehicle as close to your residence as possible -If you here any loud noises near where your vehicle is parked, especially during the late night or early morning hours, attempt to look outside without alerting anyone and if someone is tampering with your vehicle immediately call 911, (Do Not Approach or Scare the Suspects Away) give Police Dispatchers as much information about the suspect(s) and OWI- 1- Arrest 11/24/2018 8:53pm Nadol Dr. Officer s responded on a Traffic Crash. Officers investigation revealed that the responsible driver hit a parked car at a high rate of speed. The driver stated she dropped her cell phone and while reaching down to get it she accidently hit the accelerator pedal and hit the parked car. Officers detected a strong odor of intoxicants emanating from the driver. The driver was investigated for OWI and after Sobrieties & PBT were completed she was arrested for OWI. DWLS/ Warrants/ Domestic Assault- 1- Arrest 11/24/ :05am Block of Providence Dr. (Apartment Complex) Officers were dispatched to location for a Domestic Assault in progress. R/P (Female) stated her boyfriend assaulted her and then left in a Blue Chevrolet Caprice. Other officers arrived in the area and located the suspect in the Blue Chevrolet Caprice. Officers interviewed victim and observed she had a bloodied lip and broken fingernail. The male half was taken into custody for Domestic Assault. The suspect also had numerous Warrants and a Suspended Driver s License.

Criminals don t like to work in well lighted areas. They prefer to work in darkness because it s difficult to see them. Domestic Assault- 1- Arrest 11/24/2018 1:17am Block of W Twelve Mile Rd. (Apartment Complex) Officers responded to call regarding Domestic Dispute. Officers investigation determined that the couple had been out drinking, downtown Detroit. After returning home they began arguing. The male at some point physically assaulted the female causing injury. The male took the females cell phone as she was calling 911 and threw it on top of the carport. The male and female are boyfriend/girlfriend. The male was arrested for Domestic Assault. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician processed the scene and took photos of victim s injuries. Fraud/ DWLS- 1- Arrest 11/23/ :17pm Northwestern Hwy (Gas Station) Several officers were dispatched to the Block of Northwestern Hwy. on an anonymous call from a citizen stating an unknown subject in a Range Rover was possibly filling up other vehicles gas tanks with a stolen credit card. The vehicle was located and Officers interviewed party s involved. One subject was taken into custody for being in possession of numerous Fraudulent Credit/ Gift Cards and DWLS.

19 Special Attention: Larceny of Catalytic Converters! Recently we have seen an increase in Larceny of Catalytic Converters. The M.O. in most cases, the suspect(s) will park next to the attacked vehicle and the passenger will exit suspect vehicle with a portable electric saw. Suspect will immediately crawl under the attacked vehicle and cut the catalytic converter off the vehicle, get back into suspect vehicle and flee the area. The suspect vehicle in several of the incidents has been a Mini Van (Chrysler Town & Country) with a sliding side door making it easy to get in and out with the catalytic converter. A recent incident that occurred in the Block of Greenfield Rd the victim was walking back out to her car and observed a light brown sedan, occupied by three individuals parked next to her vehicle. As she approached her vehicle the vehicle and suspects fled the area. Victim discovered her catalytic converter had been cut off right after this. Citizens that observe subjects under a vehicle should not confront or scare the suspect(s) away. Immediately call 911 and report as much information as possible. Stay on the phone with police dispatch and continue to give updates until the Police arrive on scene. A&B Police Officer/ R&O- 2- Arrests 11/24/ :39am Block of Northwestern Hwy. (Hotel) Officers were dispatched to the Block of Northwestern Highway (Hotel) regarding multiple people fighting in one of the hotel rooms. During Officers investigation, a male subject was identified by a witness from the room and a hotel employee as a subject who assaulted a female. When Officers attempted to interview this subject, he refused to identify himself and began yelling, cursing and causing a disturbance. This subject was taken into custody for Obstructing Officers Investigation. During Officers Investigation Officer witnessed an intoxicated female being held back by a group of people. The female was attempting to get into the hotel room where several Officers were investigating the earlier fight. The female while being restrained made a several threatening statements. Officer gave verbal commands to the female to stay back and back up away from the door. Instead, female pushed Officer and attempted to go around Officer to get inside the room. Officer immediately attempted to take the female into custody for assaulting him and the female resisted arrest. Additional Officers assisted and the female was taken into custody. The female was highly intoxicated and was a problem while being transported to the jail and while in the jail!

20 Possession of Heroin, Crack Cocaine, & Marijuana/ Driving w/ Expired & Suspended Driver s License- 1- Arrest 11/23/2018 4:05pm S/B Telegraph Rd. & 8 Mile Rd. On 11/23/2018 Officers were on routine patrol, S/B Telegraph approaching 8 Mile Rd. Officers observed a Silver Acura and ran the plate on vehicle. A LEIN check on the plate attached to the Acura showed that the plate should be on a 98- Ford Expedition and it was reported as not a valid plate. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and observed the driver throw an orange pill bottle out the window. After the vehicle stopped, Officers ordered the driver out of the vehicle. He complied. After Officers approached the driver they could smell a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Officers observed a plastic baggie with suspected marijuana hanging out of the driver s jacket pocket. A pat down of the driver revealed that he had two plastic baggies of suspected marijuana on his person. The driver did not have a medical marijuana card. Further investigation by Officers. The orange pill bottle that the driver through out his window was recovered. It contained two plastic baggies, one with suspected cocaine and the other with suspected heroin. Officers also recovered a scale from the interior of the vehicle. The driver was taken into custody. It was later discovered that the driver had a suspended and expired driver s license. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician Field Tested samples of the marijuana, cocaine and Heroin. All three were tested separately and all three-tested positive. Suspect was conveyed to Southfield Jail w/o incident.
