Officers were dispatched to location on an open door. Officers arrived and discovered good B&E. The front main door was forced open with obvious damage to the door. Officers check the business and found no one inside the business. Owner was notified and responded to business. The owner stated that it doesn t appear that anything was taken. 3 Home Invasion: Date/Time Address (block range) Method of Entry Description/Suspect Information From: 08/21/2017 8:00pm To: 08/22/2017 1:50pm Fairfax St. Rear bedroom window was broken out. Victim states she was gone from her residence from 8:00pm and didn t return until the following day at 1:50pm. Suspect broke into the residence by braking out window on rear bedroom window. The residence was ransacked and three rings are missing. Note: This incident fits the M.O. of several Home Invasions that are occurring in the Block of several streets north of Catalpa and between Greenfield Rd & Pierce St. 08/23/2017 6:06pm Fairfax St. A window air conditioning unit in bedroom was pushed into the house. Victim states sometime between 1:00pm- 5:30pm someone forced entry into residence by forcing in a bedroom window air conditioning unit. Victim states that the only thing missing from the house is a new laptop still in the bag along with an external hard drive and flash drive. Note: When victim went back out to his car to get his ID he discovered that several of his credit cards were missing from the glove box. Victim thinks that suspect from Home Invasion went through his car as well.

4 08/25/ :12am Stuart Ave. Attempt on bedroom window. Victim states his doorbell rang, no one answered. Victim looked outside and observed B/M hop the fence and began tampering with bedroom window. When victim came face to face with suspect at the window he fled N/B on Stuart St. Victim believes there was possibly a second suspect that was seen by his daughter. 5 From: 08/23/2017 9:30am To: 08/23/2017 2:27pm Berg Rd. (Apartments) No signs of forced entry. Victim states she was gone between 9:30am- 2:27pm. When she returned she discovered that her apartment had been gone through. There were no signs of any forced entry into the apartment. Victim is certain that she locked the door. A TV & jewelry are missing from the apartment.

6 08/24/ :47pm Hunters Ln. North side window screen was slid open and entry was gained through unlocked window. Victim states she woke up to her dogs barking and observed subject standing in her hallway. Victim got up and wasn t sure at first if she was dreaming but then realized her purse was missing with her ID and credit cards. Victim described the suspect as being dressed in black with hands in front of him/her. Victim stated the subject was wearing a black hoodie-like top, which she believed had a skeleton print on the back of it. Investigation revealed that there were numerous foot prints superimposed on top of the black vanity, along with some dirt and sand that would indicate someone came in through the window. The window screen was also slid open. It doesn t appear that anything was taken and victim wasn t harmed during the incident. 7 Automobile Thefts: 08/25/2017 4:16am Date/Time Address (block range) Year, Make, Model Details Duns Scotus St. Status SR - Both Stolen and Recovered Manufacturer CHRYSLER Model 300 Color GRY - Gray Vehicle Year 2017 Body Style State MI License Year 2017 Description 2017 Gray Chrysler 300 with 22" rims and tires Recovered Date/Time 08/25/ :17am Location Block of LAHSER RD After discovering that someone had taken his vehicle overnight victim checked his surveillance video. Victim observed two unknown subjects walk up his driveway at approximately 4:15am. The subjects walked to the side of the house then walked over to his car and appeared that they were tampering with the rear driver s side door. At approximately 4:21am the vehicle was pushed back into the street and a minute later was pushed away by an unknown White Vehicle. One subject had on a gray or white hoodie and the other subject looked to have on a ski mask covering his face. Later, the same day Officers were dispatched to a vacant residence in Southfield in the Block of Lahser Rd. The stolen Chrysler 300 was resting on rocks and large tree limbs. The rear driver side window was broken, all four wheels/tires were missing, and there was damage to the rear bumper. It appears that the vehicle had been pushed to this location where the Wheels & Tires were taken. Vehicle was recovered.

8 08/25/2017 7:00pm Evergreen Rd. (Apartments) Apartment door was kicked in. Victim reports he heard knocking at the door. He did not answer the door. The victim s exgirlfriend, kicked in the door and entered the residence. Suspect came in yelling and threatening victim. Suspect then left victims apartment. Victim reports this started because he would not allow her to spend the night since her power was out. Suspect doesn t live with victim. The suspect has been identified and incident is under investigation. Tips: Never leave your vehicle running unattended Park in areas where your vehicle is viewable if possible Use commercially available security devices

9 Larceny: Date/Time Address (block range) Item Taken Details From: 08/21/2017 8:33am To: 08/21/ :15am Greenfield Rd. (Commercial- Medical) The door handle was punched. Attempt only. Victim states she was at business and when she came back out to her car she noticed someone had punched the door lock on her vehicle. Victim notified security and they pulled up surveillance video of incident. At 8:33am suspect vehicle being driven by lone B/M parked next to victim s vehicle. At 11:00am the suspect exited the passenger seat of his vehicle and spent a few minutes trying to enter the attacked vehicle. After he was unable to gain entry, he entered his vehicle through the driver s side door and left S/B on Greenfield Rd. Suspect was a B/M, approx years old, short with a medium build. The suspect was wearing black shorts, a neon green shirt and black basketball shoes. He left the scene in what appeared to be a Silver Subaru.

10 From: 08/21/2017 6:30pm To: 08/22/2017 6:30am Winchester St. Victims handgun was stolen from the center console. Victim stated she parked her 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee in her driveway at 6:30pm. Victim awoke the following morning at 6:30am and found her vehicle rummaged through. Victim went through her vehicle and observed that her handgun was stolen from the center compartment of the vehicle. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Citizens should never leave their Handguns in the interior of their vehicles, especially the center console, glovebox of under the front seat. This is where suspects will look first. Vehicles attacked: Land Rover LR Jeep Cherokee Victim states sometime between 12:00am- 7:00am someone went through both of their vehicles that were parked in the driveway. Both vehicles were ransacked. Misc. loose change was taken from both vehicle.

Victim states sometime between 2:10am- 2:35am while unloading items from the vehicle someone stole several items. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Citizens when unloading things from their vehicle and they will be out of sight of the vehicle should lock their vehicle in-between trips to the house or make sure that there is someone with the vehicle at all times. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Victim states sometime between 9:30pm and the following morning at 7:00am someone entered victim s car and took several items. No suspect information at this time. Officers were dispatched to the Block of Everett where a citizen was watching two B/M suspects walking up to cars and attempting to open the doors. Officers began surveilling the area and located the two suspects. The suspects had property in their possession that tied them to vehicles in the area that were broken into. Items included cell phones, electronics, wallets, credit cards, passports, and other miscellaneous items. Southfield Police Detectives interviewed both suspects and both made admissions to going through several vehicles. Several stolen items were recovered and will be returned to their rightful owners.

12 08/23/2017 3:00pm Aberdeen St. Package from Carrier containing one pair of sandals was taken. Victim reports she had a package delivered to her house on 08/23/2017 at approximately 2:30pm by Carrier. Victim was informed by a neighbor that they observed a subject take the package off her porch at approximately 3:00pm. Victim arrived home at approximately 5:00pm and the package was not there. SUSPECT: B/M, fair complexion, 5'-7-5'-8, and thin. He was wearing a purple hoodie, tan pants and tan shoes. He left in a Dark Green 4-dr. Victim states sometime between 6:00pm and the following morning at 9:30am someone entered vehicle, ransacked it and took victims Glasses. Victim believes the vehicle was left unlocked.

13 08/22/2017 8:06pm 08/23/2017 5:30am Evergreen Rd. Package from unknown Carrier was taken from victim s front porch Pointe O Woods (Apartments) Attempt LFA on 2003 Chevy Impala. Victim reports a package was sent to his house by ebay using an unknown carrier. The package was taken on 08/22/2017 at 8:06pm. There is surveillance video of the suspect taking the package. Suspect & Vehicle Description: B/m years old. He was driving either a Black or Blue Dodge Minivan. Victim was alerted by his vehicle alarm key fob. Victim looked outside and observed 2- B/M s outside of his vehicle with the driver's door open. The suspects were described as tall thin black males wearing hooded sweatshirts, baggie pants and had unusual hairstyles. A third unknown subject served as the driver of suspect vehicle, a White Chevy Cobalt. Plate unknown. The vehicle was last seen heading w/b on Twelve Mile Rd. Victim went out and inspected his vehicle. The driver s door lock had been punched and the interior glove box was damaged. Nothing was found missing from the vehicle. From: 08/22/ :00pm To: 08/23/2017 7:00am Telegraph Rd. (Commercial Utility) 5- Fiberglass Ladders were stolen from yard. Representative from business advises sometime overnight between 11:00pm- 7:00am someone cut the N/W fence, entered their rear yard and took 5- Fiberglass Ladders.

Entry was gained by breaking the driver door window. Victims gun was stolen out of the vehicles center console. On 08/25/2017 Southfield Detectives were contacted by a local Auto Theft Task Force advising they recovered the stolen handgun in a stolen vehicle that they had just recovered. The vehicle was occupied at the time of recovery and the subject driving the vehicle was arrested. The subject driving the stolen vehicle has been linked to our LFA as well. The suspect has been identified and will be charged for the LFA that occurred in Southfield.

15 08/25/2017 2:38pm La Crosse Ave. Status S - Stolen Description Michigan License Plate Was Taken From 2016 Chevy Malibu. Victim states she traveled to Dearborn and was in Southfield when she noticed her License Plate was missing from her 2016 Chevy Malibu. Unknown for sure where the License Plate was stolen. From: 08/22/ :25pm To: 08/23/2017 7:10am W Carnegie Park (Apartments) Several Items were taken from victims 2011 Dodge Charger: Victim states sometime between 11:25pm and the following morning at 7:10am someone went through his 2011 Dodge Charger and took several items. From: 08/21/2017 9:00am To: 08/23/ :00am North Park Dr. (Apartments) Stereo System, speakers, sub- woofers and a gym bag containing several items was taken from victims 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix. Victim states sometime between 9:00am- 10:00am someone broke into 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix by punching out door lock & handle. Victim states stereo, speakers & sub- woofer were taken as well as his gym bag containing several items. From: 08/23/ :00pm To: 08/24/2017 7:00am Friar Ln. All Four Wheels & Tires were taken from 2017 Ford Fusion. Victim states vehicle was parked in his driveway on Friar Ln. Sometime between 11:00pm and the following morning at 7:00am someone took All Four Wheels & Tires from his 2017 Ford Fusion.

Victim states sometime between 8:00pm and the following morning at 7:30am someone took All Four Wheels & Tires form victims 2017 GMC Truck. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Citizens that have garages should park their cars in the garage. (Condo s) Misc. cash and other items were taken from victims 2012 Toyota Corolla. Victim states sometime between 3:00pm- 11:30am someone entered victim s vehicle by unknown means and took cash and jewelry. From: 08/24/2017 2:00pm To: 08/24/2017 2:15pm Telegraph Rd. (Commercial- Food Service) 2- Blowers & 2- Trimmers were taken from victims landscaping trailer. Victim states 2- Blowers & 2- Trimmers were taken from their landscaping trailer while they were working at the business in the Block of Telegraph Rd. The locks on the trailer were cut off by suspect(s). >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Landscapers should keep a watchful eye on all their equipment. Victim states sometime between 9:00am- 2:30pm, while victim was at work her boyfriend (suspect) who was living with her moved out. Victim believes that her boyfriend took several of her personal belongings Suspect has been identified and incident is under investigation. From: 08/22/2017 7:30am To: 08/22/2017 9:30am Evergreen Rd. 3- Wheels & Tires were taken from 2014 Dodge Durango. Victim states sometime between 7:30am- 9:30am someone broke window out on vehicle, located the wheel lock key and took 3- Wheels & Tires. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Citizens that have Wheel Locks for their wheels should secure the Wheel Lock Key somewhere in the vehicle that it would be very difficult for suspects to locate. 18 08/25/2017 7:49pm North Park Dr. (Apartments) Several items are missing from victim s apartment. Victim states she had anticipated that she was going to move out because things weren t going well with her boyfriend. Victim had packed away some of her belongings. Prior to leaving she discovered that some of her belongings were gone and someone had switched out her TV that was still in the box with an older TV. Victim suspects her boyfriend. Suspect has been identified and incident is under investigation. Tips: Ensure your vehicle is locked at all times and valuables are out of sight. Thieves wait for the right time and will move quickly Even if playing sports at a park ensure your vehicle is locked

20 Be on the Look Out Highlights: Continuing to see Home Invasions in Area 13/ North of Catalpa between Greenfield Rd. & Pierce. This Past Week Home Invasions occurred at: 1)28000 Block of Fairfax- Entry through rear window. Occurred sometime between 8:00pm and the following day at 1:50pm. 2) Block of Fairfax- Entry through bedroom window. AC Unit was forced into residence. Occurred between 1:00pm- 5:20pm. Arrests by SPD Officers: OWI= Operate While Impaired OUIN= Operate Under Influence Narcotics LFA= Larceny from Auto R&C= Receiving & Concealing Stolen Property DWLS= Driving with Suspended License A&B= Assault & Battery CSC= Criminal Sexual Conduct CCW/CPL= Carrying Concealed Weapon NOLOP= No Operator License on Person R/A= Robbery Armed PWID= Possession with Intent to Deliver PPO= Personal Protection Order 3) Block of Stuart Ave.- Victim states his doorbell rang, no one answered. (Commercial Retail) Officers were dispatched to business on a report of a Retail Fraud that just occurred. The R/P stated that the suspects fled in a black vehicle. Southfield Officers located the suspect vehicle and attempted to initiate a stop at Telegraph and Northwestern. The vehicle attempted to evade the Officers and began to flee. Officers were able to stop the vehicle from fleeing and the two occupants were placed under arrest and lodged in the Southfield Jail. Several bottles of liquor that were stolen from the business were recovered from the vehicle. Prior to transporting one of the suspects, Officers searched suspect and recovered suspected marijuana. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician Field Tested the suspected marijuana. The result was positive for possible presence of marijuana. Note: This is the same M.O. of numerous Home Invasions in this area. Most of the entries are through a rear window or door or the side door. Most of the Home Invasions have occurred during the daytime and early evening hours and in the Blocks of Fairfax, Everett, Marshall, Sutherland. (North of Catalpa) There has also been one Home Invasion on Catalpa and one on Lexington Pkwy. Looking back over the last few months witnesses have reported the following:

22 -A B/M in a Red Boxy Style Van was seen parked near one of the residences. -A Newer White Vehicle was scene parked in the driveway at one of the residences. -A witness saw a Small White Vehicle sitting in front of residence. Witness saw a B/M 25-30, 5-8 to 5-10, , med. comp, short afro, dressed in black, exit the vehicle and walk between the houses. Witness however didn t call the Police. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Citizens that see suspicious activity like this should call 911 immediately. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> -Witness advised that a B/M, bald, wearing a red sweat shirt and jeans approached witness and asked if anyone lived at the residence. The suspect was last seen standing in front of the attacked residence. R&C Stolen Vehicle/ DWLS- 1- Arrest 08/22/ :24pm Telegraph Rd. & W Twelve Mile Rd. Officer stopped vehicle for traffic violation. During the traffic stop and investigation it was discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of another jurisdiction. The vehicle was confirmed stolen and the driver of the vehicle was listed as the suspect. The driver was arrested for R&C Motor Vehicle & DWLS. Southfield Detectives conducted Follow Up Interviews with the suspect and the owner of the reported stolen. It was discovered that even though the suspect had failed to return vehicle to the owner both parties had engaged in civil agreement and the suspect and owner had a relationship where suspect was working for owner and he had money taken out of his check to pay the owner for the vehicle. Because of this agreement no charges will be filed for the R&C Motor Vehicle. The subject was only charged with Driving with a Suspended License.

23 Special Attention: LFA s Special Attention: Larceny from Vehicles How to prevent this from happening to you! -Citizens should never leave anything of value inside their vehicle. (Especially Handguns, Purses, Wallets, Cash & Cell Phones!) - If you have a garage you should park your vehicle in the garage and lock the garage. - Wheel Locks are a deterrent but don t leave the wheel lock key in the interior of your vehicle, especially the center console or glove box. This is the first place they will look for the wheel lock. -After parking your vehicle turn your wheels all the way to the right or the left. This will make it difficult to get the lug nuts off the front wheels. - If you don t have a garage, try to park your vehicle as close to your residence as possible. -If you here any loud noises near where your vehicle is parked, especially during the late night or early morning hours, attempt to look outside without alerting anyone and if someone is tampering with your vehicle immediately call 911, (Do Not Approach or Scare the Suspects Away) give Police Dispatchers

24 as much information about the suspect(s) and suspect vehicles as you can. Stay on the phone with Dispatchers until the Police arrive. -Lots of lighting around the area(s) that you park your vehicles is also very beneficial. Criminals don t like to work in well lighted areas. They prefer to work in darkness because it s difficult to see them.
