2 INVITATION FROM THE PRESIDENT As President of the Local Government Finance Professionals of Queensland, it is my pleasure to invite you to participate in the 36th annual conference of the Association. As we are now within the last 12 months of the current local government term, I am sure that each of us is being challenged in terms of both service and project delivery. For many of us, this is possibly our first year since amalgamation that has not seen our respective Council financial positions impacted by external factors such as amalgamation, water reform and/or natural disasters. However, for others the journey continues as communities struggle to rebuild from the impacts of Cyclone Marcia and the ongoing impacts of drought. The conference this year aims to build upon the highly successful July 2015 Chief Finance Officer and Finance Manager Forum, which the Executive hopes will become a must attend event in terms of your ongoing professional development. The aim of the conference is to drive innovative solutions within the local government sector, whilst building strong relationships to facilitate this outcome. The theme of this year s conference is Unlock Your Potential Moments of Brilliance. Incorporating our successes from recent years, the program kick offs with a masterclass and includes key updates from both an accounting and economic perspective. The program provides a good balance of professional and personal development and is aimed at practicing finance professionals within the local government sector. The Executive continue to believe that the annual conference provides the best possible vehicle for providing a forum for our collective professional development. 6 HOW TO REGISTER Complete the enclosed conference registration form, post or it together with the appropriate fee or credit card authorisation to the conference organisers, Handy Events & Conferences. Registration and accommodation deposits are payable to Local Government Finance Professionals of Queensland Inc. Registration is not valid until full payment is made. A confirmation letter will be sent upon receipt of your fees. Your registration form is a tax invoice. No shared registration forms will be accepted. Please photocopy the registration form for multiple registrations. The Executive reserves the right to restrict the numbers if registration exceeds available spaces. SPECIAL REGISTRATION The Association is pleased to offer an incentive to Council s to make it more affordable for their employees, new to Local Government, to benefit from the learning and networking opportunities the conference provides. Discounted registration is available on the following terms and conditions, Maximum of one Special Registration for each Council, at least one other Standard Registration must be made for each Council at the same time. Attendees must be Level Six (6) or lower, and have never attended an LGFP Conference previously. MAJOR SPONSORS GOLD SPONSORS CANCELLATION POLICY Should a delegate be unable to attend the conference after having paid the registration fee, a substitute delegate will be welcome. If cancellation is received in writing before the 6th November 2015, a $140 cancellation fee will be deducted from the refund of the registration fee. SILVER SPONSORS For cancellations made after the 6th November 2015, no refund will be made. Delegates will be responsible for any fees or charges associated with the cancellation of travel or accommodation.
