2 Guest Speakers Annual conference will again feature informative guest speakers including: Brianna Casey CEO, Foodbank Australia Ltd Brianna is the CEO of Foodbank Australia, the country s largest hunger relief organisation. Brianna joined Foodbank in July 2016, following her successful term as CEO of Australian Childcare Alliance NSW. Prior to that, she spent 14 years in agri-politics, both in NSW (as Policy Director for Rural Affairs, then Environment) and Queensland (as CEO). Brianna has served on a number of Ministerial Advisory Councils throughout her career, and is an active volunteer in her community. Matt Barwick National Carp Control Plan Coordinator, Fisheries Research and Development Centre Matt Barwick has worked in fisheries research and management with both State and Federal government and as an independent consultant for over 15 years. During that time Matt has led and contributed to delivery of a broad portfolio of research projects in Australia and internationally, to help to understand and rehabilitate native fish communities in close partnership with key stakeholder groups including recreational, commercial and indigenous fishing sectors. Matt is currently leading development of the National Carp Control Plan (NCCP) under the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation (FRDC). The NCCP is an innovative program funded by the Australian Government which seeks to manage carp impacts in Australia through development of an integrated pest control program built around a backbone of biological control. Phillip Glyde Chief Executive, Murray Darling Water Basin Authority Phillip Glyde has been the Chief Executive of the Murray-Darling Basin Authority since January Immediately prior to this, Phillip worked for the Department of Agriculture for nine years where he had responsibility for agriculture, fisheries and forestry policy and progress; international trade and market access; the regulation of live animal exports; export certification services for food; and the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences (ABARES). Phillip joined the Australian Public Service in 1980 and has worked on natural resource management, industry and environment policies in a number of Australian government departments and overseas. In the mid-1980 s he worked for the Environment Directorate of the Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development in Paris and in the late 90 s was seconded to the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in the United Kingdom. Rob Cook Conference Dinner Guest Speaker There would be few with more tenacity, courage and resilience than fourth generation cattleman Rob Cook. A one-time professional bull rider, Rob, a father of two, was left paralysed from the neck down in 2008 after a helicopter crash whilst mustering cattle on the family's Suplejack Downs Station in the Northern Territory, Australia s most remote cattle station. Rob and his family started a new chapter three years ago near Bundaberg. The family now own and operate a successful vertically integrated cattle business supplying beef to their own leading butcher shop. A Nuffield scholar, bestselling author and Australia Day awards recipient, Rob s story is one of inspiration and determination.

3 Water Trade Panel Session The Water Market offers rice growers another tool to manage their business to maximise returns in all years. The Water Trade Panel will let you hear from experts how you can use the market to your best advantage. Leading Water Exchange platform H2OX and prominent water market analysts Aither will sit on the panel facilitated by local water policy expert, Perin Davey. Together, they will talk with a local rice grower and market user about how the market can be used to benefit farm businesses. Topics discussed will include market platforms and products, carryover, trade limits, buying selling and planning your water year. This interactive panel will give you the opportunity to ask the question you have always wanted answered. You will leave with a better understanding of the market and where to get the information you need to make informed business decisions. Meet the Panel Perin Davey, PD Strategy Perin spent more than six years analysing and understanding water policy, including water market and water trade rules, and the implications for Murray Irrigation and its customers. Perin now offers a consultancy service specialising in regional engagement and water related issues. Daniel Baker, Aither Daniel s background working with the Australian Public Service on regional, rural and local government projects provided him with a sound foundation to bring to Aither s team of analysts and specialists. Aither a range of water market information including monthly market updates and annual water market reports. Lex Batters, H2OX CEO of leading exchange platform H2Ox, Lex has almost 10 years experience in the water market and a Masters in Water Resource Management. Based in Cohuna, Victoria, Lex is well placed to discuss the products currently available on the market and market trends. A detailed agenda will be distributed prior to Conference.

4 Annual Conference Dinner The Annual Conference Dinner provides an ideal opportunity to mix with your fellow rice growers and conference sponsors. Dinner will be held at: MIA Function Centre Racecourse Rd, Leeton Cost: $75.00 per person for financial members and spouses $ per person for non-financial members and non-members. This includes a three-course dinner and beverages. Please note places for dinner are limited and will be recorded on a first come, first serve basis. Bus transfers are available and a pick-up/drop-off schedule will be communicated closer to the date. Parking is also available on-site for those that wish to drive. After a personal tour from Tim himself, you ll be able to truly appreciate the diversity in the area. It s not often you get to see so many different facets of the agriculture industry in one place!
