Accommodation Association of Australia Corporate Profile
About Us 1969 MIMA 1996 HMAA To be finalised Monday Our members are the owners of the Association which became an incorporated association in The Association Directors are accommodation owners and operators from various sectors across the country.
Representing the Australian Accommodation Industry since Accommodation Association The Accommodation Association of Australia has been evolving over a long period of time. The Motor Inn and Motel Association circa 1969 was formed to represent the interests of a rapidly growing industry. In 1991 the Association changed its name to the Motor Inn, Motel and Accommodation Association due to the changing styles of accommodation. In response to the state and federal industrial awards in the late 1990 s the Association became the Hotel Motel & Accommodation Association. The biggest change in the history of the Association occurred in 2005 with a consolidation of the state based network into one truly national organisation. The Accommodation Association has now taken the next step in its evolutionary journey towards a unified industry body one industry, one voice, one vision. The Association needs to consolidate and strengthen its services to members whilst maintaining a level of advocacy to all tiers of government. We cannot do this successfully on an individual basis and only have strength and a voice as a united and focused all encompassing Association. Garry Crockett, President, Corporate Profile
Our Purpose The Accommodation Association aims to provide a professional delivery of relevant products and services to the Accommodation sector in Australia. The Association encourages excellence in best practice among the providers of all types of accommodation, in the interest of members prosperity and growth. Core Values Our work is informed and determined by longevity and respect. We believe that our Association should promote: Specialist services and people we have on our team Commitment to delivering quality at every level The essential nature of the Association for good business practice Inclusive participation in everything we do The Australian accommodation sector is diverse in both range of product and locations where the properties are built and operated. The Accommodation Association of Australia is the peak body that represents and unites all of these different properties interests. Richard Munro, Chief Executive Officer, Corporate Profile 2012
Our Members circa 110,000 guest rooms and 2,000 properties We are focused on accommodation beds in all types of spaces: Hotels, Resorts, Motels, Apartments, Bed & Breakfasts, Backpackers, Caravan Parks. Corporate Profile
Our Industry Partners Our two organisations have enjoyed a strong and active relationship for a number of years, based around a shared dedication to serving the accommodation sector. At HOSTPLUS we are pleased to be able to support accommodation operators and businesses through relevant information and education, along with quality products and services for the industry. We are looking forward to continuing to work with the Accommodation Association of Australia and its members David Elia, Chief Executive Officer, HOSTPLUS, Corporate Profile 2012

There s a lot more to gain than just a trophy The Accommodation Association s annual awards are all about achieving and maintaining the highest standards in the accommodation industry. They represent a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the thousands of businesses that make up our accommodation industry. The awards are different from other awards in that the Association has a better understanding of the industry Steve Gargano, General Manager, Quality Hotel Cambridge, 2010 Anyone can turn it on for a judge when you know that a judge is coming at 9am in the morning but to have a mystery shopper come through your motel, I think that s a more worthwhile indicator Joanne Jenkins, Area Hotel General Manager, Toga Hospitality, 2010 Corporate Profile
