2 community development partnership
3 our vision building from a strong foundation What began as a project between one of Australia s largest privately owned construction companies and an indigenous plumbing business has grown to become a major partnership improving the future of indigenous communities and setting new standards within industry. The idea to create a majority indigenous owned entity was borne out of a relationship developed between BADGE and NUDJ Plumbing during the $15 million expansion of the Broome State School in From this a partnership between two indigenous entities and BADGE developed to establish a joint venture, National Aboriginal Construction Partners Projects (NACP Projects), to support and develop indigenous communities through sustainable construction, business development and employment. As NACP Projects strives to build better lives for local indigenous communities, it also recognises the need to deliver high quality projects to the client s ultimate satisfaction. VISION Community, Development, Partnership. NACP Projects has been established with a clear vision in mind: To empower and provide opportunities for indigenous Australians by fostering community, development and partnership initiatives. NACP Projects recognises that a professional and indigenous-owned enterprise can provide the vital structure and confidence to help aspiring indigenous youth to build careers and become the next generation of construction professionals. To achieve this vision, the partnership aims to deliver value for money outcomes and build a trusted brand as well as generate continuous revenue streams and profitability to allow NACP Projects to invest in the following initiatives: Social investment Profits will be reinvested back to the partner entities to identify and support investment opportunities in local communities. Training and employment The partnership aims to develop indigenous youth to help manage and roll out sustainable construction, maintenance and infrastructure services across Australia. NACP Projects will identify indigenous youth who can benefit from a range of professional development initiatives. These include: Scholarships to provide indigenous youth the academic qualifications to manage and lead projects. Apprenticeships to develop the skills required to manage and supervise commercial construction. Traineeships to nurture careers in office administration; and cadetships in health and safety that will grow leaders of the future. Trade competency The partnership will work with the subcontract market to create indigenous employment, training and skill development and through select tendering will only commit subcontract works to organisations committed to indigenous development.
4 overview National Aboriginal Construction Partners has joined with BADGE to establish a majority indigenous owned joint venture entity called NACP Projects. NACP Projects aims to deliver ongoing and sustainable building projects utilising the expertise of indigenous organisations based in the North West of Western Australia and North Queensland to offer a unique value proposition to the market. The joint venture gives regional and remote communities access to BADGE s national construction capabilities and suite of services helping to upskill, develop and provide opportunity to the local indigenous workforce across Australia. NACP Projects provides a career path for indigenous youth seeking to build a future in the construction industry. It is the aim of NACP Projects that Aboriginal communities benefit from the significant investment being undertaken in building and infrastructure across Australia. In doing so, NACP Projects is a prime example of how companies and agencies can work collaboratively with the indigenous community to provide financial and social benefits. ABOUT THE BADGE GROUP Since 1983, BADGE has successfully delivered construction services to clients across a broad range of industry sectors and positioned itself at the national forefront of commercial building. As a leading privately owned commercial construction company, BADGE has offices located in Adelaide, Brisbane, Maroochydoore and Perth. Over time BADGE has expanded its capabilities to the point where it is now successfully delivering projects of increasing size and complexity right across Australia. ABOUT NATIONAL ABORIGINAL CONSTRUCTION PARTNERS National Aboriginal Construction Partners consists of two indigenous entities: Marra Worra Worra and Northern Project Contracting: Marra Worra Worra Mara Worra Worra is the oldest and largest Aboriginal Resource Agency in the Kimberley region of WA. Northern Project Contracting continues to develop partnerships with indigenous communities through its national community business partnerships model and is well placed to provide NACP Projects with significant scope for expansion.
