Alternatively, head west to Tonbridge or Tunbridge Wells. The former has a good range of big-name stores and independents, while its more historic neighbour has the elegant Pantiles shopping area and a modern mall with a three-floor Fenwick s department store. Be sociable Whether it s dining out, a night at the cinema or live music, you won t have to travel far to have a great night out. Stroll down to one of the locals : the Unicorn pub (which also has a coffee shop and bistro) or the Grade II listed West End Tavern. Or why not take a trip out to a destination inn for a meal with glorious views just perfect on a balmy summer evening? For more lively nightlife, including pubs, clubs, restaurants and entertainment venues, Maidstone is the go-to place. The Hazlitt Theatre presents everything from touring West End hits to tribute bands, while the Lockmeadow Centre has an eight-screen Odeon cinema and a bowling alley.

6 Opportunities for learning Get active You ll be well placed to enjoy your favourite sport or pastime, whether it s a session at the gym, a few lengths in the pool or a game of tennis.
