Specialists sn identified these wrecks as medieval cgs. Cgs are the typical large merchantmen frm the time in which the Flemish cities had their ecnmic height. The first cg, is ne f the mst cmplete f all medieval shipwrecks ever fund in Eurpe. At the time f the finding there was very limited time t d research n site. Therefre every plank and timber had t be disassembled and was put in a cntainer with water t prevent it frm rtting. In ttal 455 timbers f bth cgs were placed in 33 cntainers. The Flemish Heritage Institute (VIOE) started its multidisciplinary research in the summer f 2010 at the Flanders Hydraulics Research (Waterbuwkundig Labratrium) in Brgerhut, Antwerp.
