Not only did you give a dose of liferenewing DHEA/Oxytocin to the person you wrote, you gave one to yourself you literally just extended your life and created goodness in the world. Well done! Why is this so important? Dr. Stephen R. Covey stated that there are four dimensions that, when properly nourished, create a whole person: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. In Habit 7 of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, we are reminded that we must constantly be in a state of renewal in these four dimensions. The greatest drain on us is when the emotional dimension is out of balance. We can run a marathon (physical), read a book (mental), or miss a goal (spiritual) and recover pretty quickly from the fatigue and loss, but emotional harm is quite different. Place a check mark next to each time you experienced one of these emotions (from The HeartMath Institute s Depletion to Renewal Grid ) in the past week: Anger Frustration Anxiety Impatience Withdrawal Resentment Excitement Courage Passion Contentment Appreciation Dignity According to the HeartMath Institute, these toxic emotions in the left column release specific stress hormones (like cortisol) which lead to reduced muscle mass, impaired mental function, diminished performance, brain cell death, impaired memory, and accelerated aging). Renewing emotions in the righthand column facilitate energetic coordination of your sympathetic and parasympathetic systems which regenerate your system and offset drain. In this month of Thanksgiving, let s be ambassadors of courage, nobility, love, and hope. Let s express our gratitude all month, so that we build resilience in ourselves and connection within our homes, our blocks, our neighborhood, our community, and our city. Julia s compassion for life lead her to volunteer at SF Suicide Prevention while she was attending college. Julia has a passion for helping people, especially young children.

2 2 Page 2 Officer Julia Little was born in Kent, Connecticut. In 2009 Julia ventured out to San Francisco in order to attend USF, where she earned her Bachelor s Degree in psychology, with a focus in child psychology. Julia s compassion for life lead her to volunteer at SF Suicide Prevention while she was attending college. Julia has a passion for helping people, especially young children. In April of 2016 Julia entered the San Francisco Police Academy. Julia graduated the academy, completed her field training at Southern Station, and did a year on probation at Northern Station. Julia was assigned to the Ingleside District in June of this year for her permanent assignment. In September of this year Julia s compassion for helping kids came in to play when she was assigned to be a School Resource Officer at Ingleside Station. Julia took to her assignment like a duck in water, and continues to do a great job. Please join us in congratulating Officer Julia Little, for being November s officer of the month!

3 Page 3 On October 22nd, 2018, a package thief with an extensive theft-related criminal history decided to visit the 2600-block of Diamond and the unit-block of Natick.

Two neighbors, separated by 3 blocks (which is like a lifetime away in most neighborhoods) connected on NextDoor and began to put the pieces together; they realized that the same suspect committed

3 3 Page 3 On October 22nd, 2018, a package thief with an extensive theft-related criminal history decided to visit the 2600-block of Diamond and the unit-block of Natick. Unbeknownst to the suspect, there were high-resolution cameras facing these two doorways and captured the face, clothing, and description of the suspect. Two neighbors, separated by 3 blocks (which is like a lifetime away in most neighborhoods) connected on NextDoor and began to put the pieces together; they realized that the same suspect committed both crimes. They shared this information on NextDoor with their neighbors, and the collaboration began. Minji activated the power of her connected neighborhood's group, described the situation, and asked for the neighborhood to check their cameras. Jeremy, around the corner from Natick, located video footage of a suspicious vehicle seen on the block at the exact time that the crime occurred. He submitted this information to Minji who added it to the NextDoor post. The resolution of the camera was so clear, that we were able to obtain the license plate number. John and Minji, at the urging of other neighbors, made sure that Captain Hart was "in the know," by ing him the details from next-door and links to the camera footage. Captain Hart then ran a computer check, which led the police to the suspect's address in the Bayview/Hunter's Point. Ingleside officers from the Ingleside Property Crimes Unit responded, located the suspect's vehicle depicted in the video, observed Minji's stolen Pokemon Pikachu halloween costume in plain view on the back seat of the car, and arrested the driver (and suspect from the videos). During the search, Minji's additional stolen property was later located in the car. Based upon the foregoing, Captain Hart and his team obtained a search warrant. During a search of the suspect's residence, we located John's stolen property (with the Nordstrom Rack tags still attached) and the clothes that the suspect wore during the commission of these crimes. These members of the Glen Park neighborhood represent the best of what San Francisco has to offer: collaborative, connected, empowered, and resilient neighbors who look out for each other, care deeply about their neighborhood, and then are willing to do what they can to help each other out during times of stress. I want to take a moment and commend Minji, John and Jeremy for being amazing neighbors. You all served your families, your neighbors, your community, and your city very well

4 4 Page 4 Upcoming N.E.R.T events in our Ingleside Bernal South Neighborhood Starting August 14, 2018 N.E.R.T is providing a series of 6 evening classes on Tuesday s. The start time is 06:30pm, and the location will be the Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center (515 Cortland Avenue). Saturday, September 8, 2018 a neighborhood block party will be held on the 100 block of Park Street. A staging drill may be held Saturday September 22, 2018 at 11:00am. 5 5 Page 5 Incidents: Incident Date Monday, November 26 th, 2018 Arrests: There are no arrests to report. Serious Incidents: 7:38pm Geneva & Mission Investigative Detention A citizen called police to report three suspicious men walking down the street and peering into parked cars. One of the men had a bat. Ingleside Officers Quinlan and Noh responded to the scene and found three suspects one of whom had a bat and another had a car stereo. The officers searched the area for damaged vehicles without success. The officers, without evidence of a crime, were required to release the suspects at the scene. Report number: :23pm Mansell & San Bruno Theft A woman standing and texting near the rear exit of a MUNI bus was suddenly approached by another passenger who grabbed her phone and fled the bus. The phone was inside a wallet containing the victim s driver s license and two credit cards. A witness said the suspect exited the bus at Mansell and San Bruno and ran to a waiting vehicle that sped away in an unknown direction. Report number:

6 6 Page 6 Incidents: Incident Date Sunday, November 25 th, 2018 Arrests: 9:33pm Cesar Chavez & South Van Ness D.U.I Ingleside Officers Ahern and Jensen were startled when they suddenly noticed a silver Mercedes driving towards them on the wrong side of the street on Cesar Chavez Blvd. Shortly before the Mercedes reached the officer s car, the driver swerved into the correct lanes and continued driving westbound. The officers made a U-Turn and stopped the driver. He exited his car and wobbled back to the patrol car where the officers detained him. He admitted drinking since two in the afternoon. He also refused to take a roadside sobriety test. A warrant was secured from the on duty judge and the suspect was taken to Mission Station where a phlebotomist obtained a blood sample. A records check revealed the driver s operator s license was revoked. He was also wanted on a warrant from the state of Virginia. The officers transported the suspect to the County Jail where he was booked for DUI. Report number: Serious Incidents: 5:00pm 200 Blk. Montcalm Dog Bite A man walking his dog suddenly heard a growl from behind. He turned around and saw a midsize unleashed dog running up from behind. The victim picked up his dog just before the other dog bit him in the back of the leg. The victim yelled at the dog owner who refused to give her name or address. However, the victim noticed the woman walk to a nearby home and enter the garage. Ingleside Officers Quinlan and Noh arrived and offered to call for medical assistance. But the victim who had a scrape and one puncture wound refused medical attention. The officers went to the address given by the victim but there was no answer when they rang the doorbell. A copy of the report was transmitted to Animal Care and Control. Report number: :00pm 1500 Blk. Geneva Fire Ingleside Officers Marshall and Lamb were dispatched to a report of a car on fire. When they arrived on scene SFFD personnel had already doused the flames. The older Honda Accord had suffered severe damage and was not drivable. The owner told the officers nothing was missing from the vehicle. Fire department personnel preliminarily put the cause of the blaze as electrical. Report number:

7 7 Page 7 Incidents: Incident Date Saturday, November 24 th, 2018 Arrests: There are no arrests to report. Serious Incidents: 2:00am Paris & Persia Robbery A man walking south on Paris Street, near Persia, suddenly felt a fist in his back. The victim told Ingleside Officers Zhao and Fogarty that one of the two suspects demanded his phone. The frightened victim surrendered the phone, but before running away, one of the suspects punched the victim in the stomach. Then both suspects turned around and escaped east on Persia Street. 8 8 Page 8 Incidents: Incident Date Friday, November 23 rd, 2018 Arrests: There are no arrests to report. Serious Incidents: 11:48am 5200 Blk. Diamond Heights Theft Walgreen s managers called police to report the theft of cosmetics and perfumes. The employee told Ingleside Officer Peralta that the suspect walked in the store and directly to the fragrance and cosmetics area where he selected several gift box items. He then left the store without paying and entered an older Jeep Cherokee that sped away. The manager gave Officer Peralta the license plate of the Cherokee along with surveillance footage of the suspect. Report number:

9 9 Page 9 Incidents: Incident Date Thursday, November 22 nd, 2018 Arrests: 11:03pm Mission & Geneva D.U.I Ingleside Officers Parker, Quevedo, Lozano and McCall were dispatched to an accident involving two cars at Geneva and Mission. The officers noticed that one of the drivers had slurred speech and the obvious smell of alcohol on her breath. She refused to participate on a field sobriety test. She later consented to a chemical test but changed her mind while en-route to the hospital for treatment. She remained uncooperative as medical personnel at the hospital attempted to assess her injuries. The officers requested a warrant for a blood test which was granted and a phlebotomist performed the procedure at San Francisco General. After release, the suspect was transported to the County Jail and booked for DUI. Report number: Serious Incidents: 10:00pm 12:00pm Unit Blk. Prospect Hot Prowl Burglary Burglars made sure there was little thanks in Thanksgiving for residents of a home on Prospect Avenue. The victims told Ingleside Officer Gonzalez that they awoke the day after Thanksgiving and found a door leading to their garage open. Inside they found two bicycles missing and the front garage door damaged. Officer Gonzalez determined the suspect or suspects entered the garage by prying open the garage door. Report number:

10 10 Page 10 Incidents: Incident Date Wednesday, November 21 st, 2018 Arrests: There are no arrests to report. Serious Incidents: 3:14pm 500 Blk. Velasco Stolen Vehicle A man, unloading groceries from his parked car into his home, lost his vehicle to a thief. He told Ingleside Officers Mora and Solomon, while inside his home, he heard a loud bang, and looked outside to see an unknown woman suspect driving away in the car. He said, unfortunately, he left the keys in the ignition and the car door open while unloading groceries. Witnesses described the suspect as a woman, without shoes, who was standing nearby while the victim unloaded the car. Report number: :56pm Tompkins & Putnam Weapon A security officer at the Farmers Market was confronted by a suspect who brandished a knife. The victim told Ingleside Officers Marshall and Lamb that he saw the suspect approach a parked car to talk to the occupants. But, as he approached the car, the suspect brandished a knife and threatened the guard. The security officer wisely backed away and called police. The suspect fled eastbound on Alemany.
