2 An Invitation You are invited to attend the NZMA GP CME 2009 (General Practice Conference & Medical Exhibition). The programme is varied and covers key areas of interest in general practice. The content provides short, sharp and to the point clinical updates with key take home messages to change your daily behaviour. Includes repeated group sessions with case studies. NZMA members receive $150 discount on full registration to New Zealand s biggest annual GP conference. There is a dedicated Practice Nurses Programme on Saturday 13 June arranged by the New Zealand College of Practice Nurses and facilitated by Mary-Anne Cameron (National Secretary NZCPN). Registered Nurses are invited to any other sessions. A dedicated Practice Managers Programme has also been arranged for Friday 12 June. Keynote speaker, Mr Brendan O Donovan (Chief Economist, Westpac) will provide a very topical discussion on the world economic climate. 3 Conference Content Pre-Conference Workshops Thursday 11 June 2009, Rotorua Energy Events Centre To provide further practical updates, there is an optional pre-conference workshop day covering a broad range of hands-on topics, including an option to register for Basic and Advanced Surgical skills training. An 8 hour ALS Level 7 course is also offered. Main Conference Friday 12 Sunday 14 June 2009, Rotorua Energy Events Centre Due to the popularity of the meeting, further workshop options have been added to the Saturday programme. A shuttle service will operate between the Energy Events Centre and Millennium Hotel conference rooms to facilitate the programme. All GPs, Practice Nurses, Practice Managers, GP Registrars and Students are welcome to attend. Practice Managers Programme Friday 12 June 2009, Rotorua Energy Events Centre To ensure all areas of General Practice interest are covered a dedicated Practice Managers programme has been developed. Practice Nurses Programme Saturday 13 June 2009, Rotorua Energy Events Centre A dedicated Practice Nurses programme will run concurrently with the main conference on Saturday. Practice Nurses are encouraged to register for the entire conference and are welcome to attend all sessions. Resuscitation Courses for GPs Level 5 5 hours /10 credits (4 hour course with 1 extra hour for pre-reading) Four course times on offer during the conference: Fri AM, Fri PM, Sat AM & Sat PM, $185 per person. This course has been endorsed by the RNZGP for 5 hours = 10 credits. This course also meets the compulsory resuscitation skills RNZGP MOPS and AVE requirements for GPs to obtain a certificate of competency in resuscitation skills to the New Zealand Resuscitation Council standards of Level 5.
