3 Investing in Cmmunity $1.86 Millin in Grants The Cunty hsts a cmpetitive grants prgram thrugh the Open Space Sales and Use Tax. Municipalities and special districts can apply fr funding t supprt prjects, such as land acquisitins, park develpment, master planning, trail cnnectins and mre. The fllwing agencies received grant funding in 2014: Aurra, Cherry Hills Village, Englewd, Gdman Metrplitan District, Greenwd Village, Sheridan, Suth Suburban Park and Recreatin District and Strasburg Metrplitan District. $10.6 Millin Shared with Cities Arapahe Cunty has the largest Shareback prgram in the State f Clrad with 12 cities and twns receiving 50 percent f the ttal tax cllected, distributed by ppulatin. Wabash Trailhead - At the intersectin f Yale and Wabash, this trailhead has mdern amenities that cnnect trail users and lcal Fur Square Mile residents t the Cherry Creek Trail. Cming Sn Kiwa Creek Nrth - Wildflwers in full blm, mule deer grazing r a small herd f prnghrn antelpe running thrugh shrt-prairie grasses, this prperty will feature a trailhead and cnnectin t the future Kiwa-Bennett trail. Triple Creek Trailhead and Cnnectins Reynlds Landing will be a premier destinatin t cnnect with trails, in-river recreatin alng the Suth Platte and the new Breckenridge Brewery. laney Farm High Line Canal Crssings feasibility study was cnducted t understand infrastructure and identify crssings that were difficult r unsafe fr trail users. The fllwing are sn t be enhanced fr yur safety and ease f access: Hampden/Clrad, Hlly/Yale, Parker/Mississippi, Orchard/Clrad and Orchard/ University. Enhance the High Line Canal Prjects will prvide mdern upgrades t dated infrastructure with five pedestrian bridges, a new restrm facility and a trail cnnectin. Prjects will ccur alng the trail frm Cunty Line Rad t Orchard Rad. Detail f Area Shwn Arapahe Cunty High Line Canal and Triple Creek Trail Cnnectin includes cnstructin f mre than three miles f trail t cnnect the High Line Canal, Sand Creek and Triple Creek Trails. This cnnectin will fill a gap between tw reginal trail systems by cnnecting seven existing recreatinal facilities within a ne-mile radius. Quebec Way Trailhead ffers additinal parking and a new trailhead will enhance public access t the High Line Canal. rk E QUINCY AVE Arapahe Cunty Fairgrunds and Park Lne Tree Creek Trail will cmplete a critical gap in access extending tw miles frm Brncs Parkway t Cherry Creek State Park. 6 Making Prgress Fairgrunds and Park What happens at the Fairgrunds besides the Cunty Fair? A lt! With year-rund fairs and festivals, Quinceñeras, trade and animal shws, athletic events, 4-H prgrams and mre, there is a heavy demand n having a rbust and capable facility. This is why Arapahe Cunty is expanding the Fairgrunds t include a new utdr cvered arena, a west wing expansin f the exhibit hall and a new park. The utdr cvered arena is a prime space fr rdes, drp-in riding, hrse shws and a variety f agricultural events and shws. The exhibit hall expansin will draw trade shws, reginal athletic events, festivals and animal-related shws. It als can serve as a training r cnference facility. The 110-acre park will feature scenic verlks, shaded picnic structures, histric NEW Cvered Arena West Wing Expansin windmills and a trail and stream system with unique natural play areas nestled int prairie canyns. The Fairgrunds als serves the cmmunity during emergencies. Lcal emergency service agencies train fr preparedness and the facility can temprarily huse animals in the event f a disaster. With bth indr and utdr amenities, the Arapahe Cunty Fairgrunds is a premier reginal event lcatin. Cnceptual Drawing Celebrating ur Heritage Arapahe Cunty Fair The 2014 Arapahe Cunty Fair was a great success with mre than 20,000 peple in attendance. Fairgers enjyed unlimited carnival rides, rdes, a petting farm, demlitin derby, and cncerts n the main stage, games, firewrks and much mre. Cme Rustle Up Sme Fun at the 2015 Arapahe Cunty Fair, July Tickets are n sale at Fall Festival Festival attendees f all ages get in tuch with Clrad histry and the ld western ways f life at the annual Fall Festival. Save the date fr the 2015 Fall Festival, Octber Mile Huse Turs The 17 Mile Huse and Farm Park has a stried and significant histry. As the Gld Rush f the mid-1800s lured civilizatin t the west, a series f inns emerged alng the Cherry Creek t accmmdate weary travelers. Tday, the prperty is restred t its knwn cnditin in the early 1900s. Cmplimentary turs are prvided ne Saturday each mnth. Schl turs als are available by appintment.
