The T-1A is a missionized Beech 400A used in the Airlift/Tanker track of USAF Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training (SUPT) and in Combat Systems Officer (CSO) training for Air Education and Training Command (AETC). It is powered by two Pratt and Whitney JT15D-5 turbofan engines mounted on the aft fuselage producing 2,900 pounds of thrust each. Avionics include Ultra High Frequency (UHF) and Very High Frequency (VHF) radios, Inertial Navigation System (INS), Tactical Air Navigation (TACAN), Airborne Direction Finder (ADF), and two Very High Frequency Omni Range/Instrument Landing System (VOR/ILS). Aircraft modified for CSO training include a Global Positioning System (GPS)-driven synthetic radar and simulated Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) in the right seat flight deck position to be utilized by the student CSO. A second student station and a second instructor station have also been added in the rear of the aircraft. There are 178 T-1A aircraft in the inventory. Initial Spares ($ in Millions) Gross/Weapon System Unit Cost ($ in Millions) tal Description: The justification/approval for the T-1A AMP is documented on an AF Form 1067, signed February 2014 by AETC/A5/8/9. The 1067 was approved by the Air Force Requirement Oversight Council (AFROC) in June 2014, which established the requirement identified above to replace the existing avionics suite throughout the fleet of 178 aircraft, 16 Operational Flight Trainers, and 14 Part Task Trainers. This effort will require integration engineering for the installation of a current industry standard avionics suite with the legacy aircraft and will be accomplished with $20M in FY15 and FY16 funds. FY17 funding will support kit proof and modification installations in a total of 15 aircraft. Contract Award: The award is now projected to award in the 2nd quarter of FY17. The program has been supplemented with additional manpower to ensure it can maintain its current schedule. Milestone/Development Status This modification is not a developmental effort.
