Ideally, the grup wuld like t see a path starting at the cnnectin t Mill Creek ut t LaSal Lp Rd. Investigating the pssibility f a mnthly bike t wrk rather than just nce per year. Wuld need t free up parking space fr this. A flyer is being put tgether t survey interest. Bitterlane fllw up weeds have grwn up in the path. The cunty is taking respnsibility and will lk int this issue. 4. Frest Service updates: Brian Murdck, Autumn Ela Alternative Trail t the Prcupine Rim and LPS Update n FS entry ideas: Sandy met with Autumn, and Autumn met with District Ranger t decide the best curse f actin t take. (They didn t riginally realize that 800 feet f the trail started

2 n FS land.) Ging t lk at ptins, and awaiting Sctt t prvide final GPS t make a prpsal. Ski Reprt: Kirstin Petersn, nt present Nt getting a lt f snw recently. Avalanche in January was prbably triggered by skiers - reminder t skiers t be aware and be careful! There cntinues t be cnflict between snwmbilers and skiers. LUNA is discuraged by the damage being dne t the grmed trails that peple want t skate n. The snw machines are either nt reading r nt fllwing the signs. A winter travel map fr the Manti LaSal Frest is being put tgether. It will rll ver the existing winter travel plan and detail sme nn-mtrized Nrdic trails in additin t existing marked back-cuntry rutes. At this time, nly Gld Basin is nn-mtrized. It wuld be gd t get sme letters f supprt t FS. Brian wuld like t see the rad t Gld Basin clsed t mtrized traffic. FS has hrses available and the Range Cn is lking fr prjects that Trail Mix, the Cuncil, r Park Service culd use help with. The hrses are lcated in Mnticell. Lking t have a grming prgram in the Abajs. Equipment has been prvided by the FS hwever there hasn t been adequate snw t use them yet. Dick Walter reprted n a plan fr June in the Bk Cliffs area where peple are needed t g in n hrseback and clean up where backcuntry campers are leaving their garbage. The prject is ut f Vernal but is lcated in Grand Cunty. Once the trash is cllected in ne spt they will fly the trash ut. 6. BLM inf and Trail updates: Katie Stevens and thers New Trails Ready t Ride in Klndike!!! Side Step Nrth and Instep Wrking n Malachite nw. 3 r 4 Vlunteer Grups cming in Feb and March. Navaj Rcks shrt cnnectr trails prpsal update: Apprved t build, but trail adjustments t Rcky Tps segment will g arund pale burrws. Jared (Archaelgist) plans t g ut tday t check the last little piece. Getaway Extensin Reciprcal Trade update: SITLA prcessing they asked fr final GPS alignment, relieved that we dn t have t d a frmal survey. We are eager t get this trail apprved t get ff the Gemini Bridges rad.

3 Area 313/7Up Trails: Archaelgy review hikes cntinue with Jared this Thursday. Adjustments made t cnnect t 7Up singletrack with a re-rute arund future il pad. Green River City wants muntain bike trails. Green River City, businessmen and private prperty wners see the success that ther cmmunities are having with their bike trail systems. The city has cntracted with Sctt Esctt t design and layut trails. A map f the 23 miles prpsal was presented and discussed. These trail rutes will invlve cnsiderable maintenance in the future and changing wilderness prpsals culd create serius prblems. Trail Mix des nt want t be respnsible fr maintenance, due t travel distance. Filming Katie reprted that a ticket was issued fr filming an illegal crss-cuntry drive between Parritt Mesa and Castle Rck. A film permit must be btained fr any cmmercial filming (which culd include Yutube depending n the site vlume). Trail Maintenance: Baby Steps technical singletrack trails repaired and additinal signs installed fr Dinsaur Stmping Grund Trail. A few mre dts were added t direct traffic n the slickrck and a few mre cairns. The Gastnia grup will g ut with BLM t put in bigger and better cairns. Future maintenance: Rckstacker part has fallen away nt trail and was repaired by Brian. EKG (where the Duathln will be held) will be painted. Paint is needed n Merrimac and Mnitr. Brks was cntacted abut ding the painting, hwever ther vlunteers shuld be sught as well. Beavers vs. cttnwds Act III: Beavers are making dams everywhere, taking dwn big cttnwds. The trail that cntinues dwn frm Navaj Ridge subdivisin had t be reruted because f the beavers, and the new trail is clse t being flded. Sandy wuld like the remaining trees in the Navaj Ridge area t be caged and a berm built t avid washing ut the trails. Sara Melnicff and Sandy are wrking n creating signs t be placed in the Pwer Dam area t help educate peple abut the benefits f beavers and dams. The signs may be attached t the wire caging that is prtecting sme f the frnt cuntry trees. Mill Creek Area A right f way fr fire equipment t turn arund befre the irrigatin huse is in prcess. Sand Flats Spring A fence repair wrk prject is scheduled fr March 5 th. Kim Schappert hiked past tw water tanks and trughs and nted that the area was trampled and damaged. Need t have the area fenced t exclude cws. In the past, the fence has been cut and the pipe damaged. Chris pinted ut that this is the kind f prject the Watersheds Prject wrks n thrugh an annual applicatin prcess. Prblems like this can be catalgued and put n the next applicatin t the state.

4 The BLM tk the psitin in their travel manual that E-bikes are cnsidered mtrized and are therefre nt allwed n nnmtrized trails. This generated a lt f cntrversy. Nte The Master Leasing Plan will invlve a great deal f Katie and Jared s time and limit their availability t wrk with Trail Mix. 7. Hiking update: Marc Thmas Marc expressed cncern that the Duathln will be held n the new dinsaur track trail. Sandy stated that it will be well marked with flur n the slickrck and then g dwn t the Megasteps bike trail. This will be carefully checked fr damage after the event. 8. Equestrian updates: Richard Cffinberry Richard discussed the lack f parking fr hrse trailers. Areas needing imprvement include - Ida Gulch (acrss frm Rcky Rapid) and Prfessr Rd. There is ptential fr cnnecting trails in Castle Valley but nt if there isn t enugh parking. The Nature Cnservancy needs t be cnsulted and prbably wnt be ppsed t hrses riding in the area. It is a hiking, climbing, equestrian area. Currently fr hrses there is nly Onin Creek and they bk up quickly because it is a ppular camping area, whether the peple have hrses r nt. Geff suggested getting a map t Richard s a frmal prpsal can be made t the BLM. 9. N Dg Pp Fairy sign idea: Dick Walter Need t have signs t draw attentin t the fact that peple dn t clean up after their pets especially at trailheads. BLM will authrize pet cleanup statins if the Humane Sciety erects them, installs receptacles t depsit the waste, and cmmits t cllecting the waste. Perhaps Trail Mix can make the signs - the N Dg Pp Fairy sign wuld be gd, but it might be cpyrighted. Dick will check int this. 10. Fix Mix prblem slving grup idea: Sara Melnicff Jin the Team! Lking fr vlunteers willing t be called t d a lt f the little things that need t be dne. Perhaps a vlunteer culd be used t clean up the waste discussed abve. 11. Articles are needed fr this summer abut muntain trails - perhaps the tw new Mann s Peak trails r Gld Basin. Natinal Gegraphic Traveler magazine interviews: Sandy and Kirstin were interviewed - perhaps an article abut Trail Mix will appear in the future!

Article in Mab Happenings Du-ing it the Mab Way stated that the bike curse features the Newab r New-Mab style trails: super-fun singletrack mixed with slickrck, red dirt, and scenic views. Outerbike Spring event March th Western Spirit - Cnsumer bike dem event. Intermuntain Cup Muntain Race will use the Mab Brands trails, including the O and A trails this year. The event prmter will d the painting. A will need t be re-painted in yellw but O desn t need re-tuching. Marc Thmas - asked if Trail Mix respnded t the Natinal Park Service s request fr input abut raising fees and hw we wuld like t see the additinal mney spent. Trail Mix has nt put in a respnse. Part f the fees is intended t g int a bike path cnnectr directly t the entry gate. A suggestin was made t make bike lanes in rder t create a safer way fr bikes t traverse the Park rads. A member suggested that cars culd pay mre than bikes. Als suggested was a shuttle t serve the ppular areas up tp by creating anther parking lt abve. The Natinal Parks is has nt been sending a representative t Trail Mix meeting fr the past few years. It wuld be nice t have them back at the meetings t have their direct input n trail issues. Additinal upcming events: Grassrts will be running n Amasa Back (n jeep trail) - May 2 nd. Utah HS Muntain Bike half state champinship - Sept 26 th n Bar M. Mab Rcks Oct 10 th Whle Enchilada 1 st r 2 nd week in September? Zacharia is prpsing that the cunty use sme kind f grading system in their special events permitting prcess. This wuld include a review f trails after the event in rder t help them make better-infrmed decisins. BLM and FS already d this and will share their systems with Zacharia.
