1 Frederick Friday News - January 8, 2010 Happy New Year! It looks like the kids got their wish and we do have our first official snow day of the school year, but the news must still go out. Please see the attached Friday Flyer for Frederick School and PTO News. *Yearbooks Yearbook orders can be made on- line by linking from the bottom of our school webpage. fs.asp The price for yearbooks is $16 After January 31st, orders can no longer be made. So make sure to order your child's yearbook soon. *Read to Succeed: Students at Frederick School will again participate in the Six Flag's - Read To Succeed, six hour reading club. Students must read six hours for fun, which needs to be verified by a parent or teacher on the student's reading log. They can read books, magazines, newspapers, comics, video game instructions or other materials as long as it is for fun and not assigned reading. Students who complete the six hours of reading AND turn in their signed reading log to their teacher by FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 19 will earn a free ticket to any participating Six Flags Theme Park. Reading logs canbe found at the end of this e- mail. *PTO News Happy New Year from the PTO! We hope everyone has had a safe and warm start to We have a lot of exciting events planned for the rest of this school year. Here is just a preview of what s coming from your Frederick PTO: **Restaurant Fundraiser Nights still to come this year: Jimmy Johns, Culvers, Buffalo Wild Wings and Dog n Suds. **Book Fair coming up during February conference week. Come help or shop! **Frederick Dodgeball and Raffle Night later this winter, family fun times out of the cold! **Spring Earth Day Celebration will include a variety of activities and schoolwide initiatives starting in February and culminating on Earth Day in April Make sure you mark your calendars so that you and your children don t miss out on any of the fun! 2 Announcing New PTO Chairs! Thanks to the following parents who contacted us after reading last month's PTO flyer. They have graciously stepped up to become the chairs of two very important committees. Welcome and thanks for volunteering! Dodgeball/Raffle Night: Dave Stawniak School Supplies : Gail Gustave and Laurie Hinkson. PTO Meeting Next Week The monthly PTO meeting will be held after school in the Frederick library. Fundraiser Night at Jimmy John's Restaurant Mark your calendars Wednesday January 20 is Frederick Fundraiser night at Jimmy John's in Grayslake. Jimmy John s Restaurant will donate 20% of the sales placed by Frederick School family and friends to Frederick School. The class who has the most orders on this night will receive a free 30 piece party platter! Please read the attached flyer for more details. You will bring the attached coupon for your class to get credit for the contest. Volunteers Needed for Book Fair in February Book Fair Diner All You Can Read! To be held during Parent/Teacher Conference Week February 8th - 11th. There are morning, afternoon and evening shifts. Evening shifts are Wednesday and Thursday only.
