The project (APL1) development objectives contribute to the overall program development objective by: (i) supporting the design and creation of a multijurisdictional Metropolitan Transport Agency for the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA); (ii) strengthening the institutional capacity of the transport authorities in decision making, planning, priority setting, and resource allocation in urban transport; (iii) improving the quality and performance of urban transport infrastructure and/orservices in medium size Metropolitan Areas; and (iv) improving the physical integration and access to public transport networks in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area. The restructured project is now focused primarily on three public transport investments under preparation: a BRT project in greater Buenos Aires with proposed works in the municipalities of La Matanza and the city of Buenos Aires; segregated lanes projects in the municipalities of Santa Fe and Rosario. The project is also financing technical assistance to strengthen planning and data platforms for urban mobility planning and management in medium-sized Argentine cities. (Yes/No, Custom) Value N Y Y Y In August 2014 the Minister of Interior and Transportation, Florencio Randazzo, and Secretary of Transportation, Alejandro Ramos, approved the tripartite agreement between the State, the Province of Buenos Aires and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, creating the Metropolitan Transportation Agency (MTA), which was originally signed on October 2012 and initiated the AMT. PHINDPDOTBL Produce transport planning instruments based on systematic data collection such as: Urban Transport Planning Model, Transportation Master Plan, and/or Urban Transport Center or Observatory. (Number, Custom) Value The full four step urban transport planning model for the AMBA was finalzied by LOGIT. The Integrated Information Center for Mobility and Transport (Centro Integrado de Información para la Movilidad y el Transporte) is being created, which will lead the use of information technologies to transport. The center will be lead by a new Consortium of Universities, including the Universidad Nacional de Buenos Aires, la Pontifica Universidad Católica, al Universidad Nacional de La Plata, la Universidad Nacional de San Martín and UBATEC. The technical assistance projects to create a Urban Mobility Plan in La Rioja is underway, and is expected to finish in 6 months. Similaryly, the integral Mobility for Salta is expected to finish in 12 months. The contracts is expected to be signed by early Octrober, This will start the construction of the BRT system in La Matanza.
