4 They told me this is the group of Nomad workers at Millmerran, but it looks like they are off for a round of golf to me. Allen Hunter, Louise Lemon, Camilla Barker, Mary Hunter, Terry Barker and John Clements. Photo taken by Bob Lemon, nother golfer. Lorelle and Sue St Clair went to a wonderful International Women s Day breakfast at Mcleod Golf Club on International Women Day 8 March The guest speaker was Rochelle Courtenay from Share the Dignity and It s in the Bag. She certainly gave us some insights into her charity and the needs of women and children in our communities. Last year 107,000 bags were packed but over 170,000 were actually needed so an inspiration to us all to make an even bigger effort in the years to come.

5 Tuesday night we had 3 members online and several apologies. With Faye in attendance, we had a great chat about books, authors and even got into movies. On the craft side, it was reported we have 8 rugs to be donated to Pinaroo Care Facility in Roma. Louise has 60 Days for Girls kits bagged and ready to be donated to an indigenous group. Lorelle said Craft at Bostock House is going well and the ladies of the district enjoying the craft. I did a little count up and to my knowledge, Nomad Ladies are involved with craft for at least 10 organisations and 16 ladies are participating. It was decided that there will be no meeting in April due to the Cruise. We are going to trial having a craft meeting prior to our ordinary meeting on Wednesday 2nd May at 6.30pm. At this time we will discuss the Craft Table at the Murwillumbah Muster. 9 Question : ROMAC is mentioned in this edition of the BulleTin What is ROMAC and what does it do?. Answer : ROMAC is the acronym for Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children and is a combined Australia and New Zealand Multi District Rotary initiative. ROMAC has been in operation for over 25 years. Assisted by many eminent Australian and New Zealand surgeons who generously donate their time for the treatment of our patients, this humanitarian program has provided Life Giving surgery to over 400 children from more than 20 developing countries, with urgent medical treatment that was not available to them in their own country. First and foremost, ROMAC is quite a rare not-for-profit humanitarian organisation being run entirely with volunteers no paid staff, no leased offices and so minimal fixed costs. We can proudly state that every dollar donated goes to Giving Life and our small expenses are recovered from our investments. ROMAC comprises a five member Board plus an Operations committee of eight, which includes the six Regional Chairs across Australia and New Zealand. The Regional committee then coordinates through District Chairs and their committees, which align and work closely with local Rotary Clubs. The core of ROMAC is Life Giving surgery and our process begins with a Referral from overseas (or visiting Australia/New Zealand doctors) directly into the ROMAC database. From this single form, the Medical and Operation s Directors evaluate, in collaboration with specialist Regional Medical Consultants, if the Referral meets the ROMAC guidelines and what Region may be able to provide the necessary surgery. All in all, our team in Australia and New Zealand is nearing 200 totally voluntary individuals plus Rotarians and medical personnel who support ROMAC in the Island nations we serve. These are people who help with passport and visa applications, finding and communicating with our potential patients, organising medical checks and ensuring they are on time to board their plane. A feature of ROMAC which has grown greatly in recent years is the support we receive from groups now resident in Australia but previously from many of the countries from which our patients originate. Families from Fiji, Solomon Islander, Timor Leste, Vietnam etc are all enthusiastic supporters of ROMAC. Everyday somewhere in Australia or New Zealand a Rotarian or a member of one of these groups performs a voluntary act for one of our ROMAC patients. Whether it be collecting a patient on arrival from the airport, taking a patient to an appointment, visiting a patient in hospital or making an arrangement for a patient to go on a recuperation trip to the country there is always a volunteer to undertake the task in question. The increased number of patients being treated in all our regions and districts has placed an increased burden on our Rotarian volunteers but, without exception, they are answering the call and attending to the needs of our patients. It is true to say that without our volunteers ROMAC could not continue to operate. ROMAC has a continuing need for new volunteers in all capacities. Offers to be a ROMAC volunteer should be directed to your nearest Regional Manager.

10 There is an array of off road couplings on the market, with degrees of articulation that ll get any intrepid adventurer to the other side of the Black Stump and back again, but the recently unveiled Off Road Pin Coupling from AL-KO takes the integration of user-friendliness to a new level. Specially designed and developed by AL-KO in Australia for use in Australia s harsh off-road conditions, their innovative release features hands-free hitching and one-touch unhitching. In fact, it s the only off road pin coupling on the market where no user action is required to hitch up. So how does it work? Simply wind the jockey wheel down to lower the coupling on the pin until the indicator clicks in to place, confirming the coupling is double locked and Job Done. When it comes to unhitching, simply depress the top hat and the positive latching indicator in one swift motion then raise the coupling off the pin using your jockey wheel. AL-KO s new Off Road pin coupling features a positive latching indicator which provides clear indication that the coupling has locked on to the pin. Being an Off Road coupling, the coupling head and yoke articulate on separate planes independent of each other. This articulation allows the tow vehicle and caravan or camper trailer combination to overcome steep departure, ramp over or declines at the same time as alternating off camber sections not afforded by a standard ball coupling. Being a pin coupling, you are not governed by maximum height restriction as you would with a ball coupling, so it s an attractive proposition for those who have raised their tow vehicle for the purposes of higher ground clearance. If you have a vehicle with barn doors, profile is an important consideration when selecting a coupling. AL-KO have clearly taken this in to account with their clever design as their new Pin Coupling sits at just 86mm fitted which makes it ideal. AL-KO s new Off Road pin coupling is a truly all-terrain coupling with extreme articulation on the vertical and horizontal plane capable of going anywhere you would venture with your tow vehicle. It s sure to command interest from local manufacturers of off-road caravans and camper trailers, buyers of new off-road vans and those in the market for an upgrade. To learn more about AL-KO s new Off Road Pin Coupling visit the AL-KO Website.
