Please register on DaCdb in advance or at least Amanda to let us know if you are planning to attend. The Central Rotary Means Business Committee would like a count from us by Tuesday, July 10 th. You don't have to be in the Central Region to attend this event if you feel you can do business or get business with/from their fellow Rotarians - All are WELCOME! Last month's Central Event in Fort Myers was well attended with over 45 attendees. July 12, 2018 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Theatre at the Cultural Center of Charlotte County located at 2280 Aaron Street, Port Charlotte Cost: $15.00 per person (covers admission and hors d' oeuvres) in advance. $20.00 day of the event. Cash bar. Club Shirts Ruth has started the process so we can all get Rotary Shirts. Ruth brought in the blue golf shirt that all in attendance at the meeting agreed was a great option. We will be ordering from Naples Team Sports off Taylor Street. We hope to have a few of the shirts in our meeting on 7/10/18 so that we can order the proper size. Shirts will be $30 to start and will go up in cost based on the size of the shirt that is ordered. Thank You Ruth for taking on this project for us! The great news is that no one in the club will have to be in charge or ordering and taking care of payment as Naples Team Sports has agreed to take orders over the phone and allow us to make payment using a credit card! This will make it easy for all of us to get our shirts without worrying about tracking payment! SMILE AMAZON If you are an amazon user, remember to use the site The Amazon Smile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price from your eligible Amazon Smile purchases which will go directly to our club s foundation!! Funds are accumulated quarterly and transferred to our bank account directly. Remember to bring tooth brushes, tooth paste, shampoo, soap and diapers for the battered women s shelter. They also appreciate crayons and other activities. Jan will make a run with what we collect every other week! Thanks Jan! Jan wanted to say thank you to everyone that has brought in items for these women that need help during a very difficult time in their lived. Giving a little something makes their lives a little better. If you travel, remember to bring in the soaps and shampoos that you don t use in your room you paid for them- let them help one of these young mothers! IF YOU HAVE DONE ANY VOLUNTEERING RECORD YOUR HOURS WHEN YOU CHECK INTO OUR MEETING. 5 We didn t have a meeting on July 3rd but boy do we have a fun article for you this week! As many of you know Wayne and Beverly Dahlstrom are traveling this summer in Georgia. On Sunday June 24th they were invited to attend church where the Former President of the United States Jimmy Carter delivers the Sunday
6 School Lesson every other week. They were promised a good seat. Well Wayne got up to use the restroom after he and Beverly were seated and when he returned he found Rosalynn Carter in his seat, holding hands with Beverly and chatting up a storm. They enjoyed a wonderful lesson from President Jimmy Carter and stayed a while after to chat with them about the small town that Jimmy Carter was raised in. After leaving the meeting, Beverly s phone rang and it was the assistant to Rosalynn asking if they could return to the church later that day for a meeting. Sadly they had to decline as they already had plans for dinner with friends that were coming in from out of town. They plan to return to hear Former President Carter speak again before they return to us! What a story!
7 Rotary Club in Americas Ga. About 70 members. Their meeting room in Georgia Southwestern University. Very active. Nice group. To all our Rotary buds and friends The float and truck were beautifully decorated with flags and banners. We had the only Live band and they played almost continually the entire parade. Thanks to Dr Jim for getting the band. Thanks to Joel and Rose for being our host and providing the food and treats for kids. His garage use makes it happen. Thanks to Tim, Haris and a host of several Rotary pals for helping decorate and walking with our float. Our #1 cheerleader is Joel, he gets the crowd applauding and singing with the band. Personally, this was one of the most organized and enjoyable parades yet. Bill, the truck driver.
