2 Thankyou 1) Thank you again to Marion Curtis and Sharon Collins for Organising/Chairing the Christmas Meeting. What a great night it was. Special mention to Don McQueen as well for his rendition and to the 12 days of Christmas Performers; what a great effort. 2) Thanks also to Steve Bennett doing the Dot Points. Isn t it great to score a month with only a couple of Wednesdays! [Editor s Note : Yes it sure is as that is a short month for BulleTins too] 3) Many thanks to Bob Dahl for introducing himself at the last meeting. You certainly sound like an experienced Rotarian, Bob. 4) It was great to see over 30 members online at the last meeting. We had only a few people not in attendance. 5) Many thanks to Marlene Charles for attending the District 9630 AGM early in December. 6) Many thanks to those members who attended the District Donations in Kind Working Bee last weekend. It went well and was reported on in their most recent newsletter. This is good publicity for us too. AGM 1) Congratulations to Meralin Fallon on being elected to the position of President Nominee. She will be the President Elect in the 2018/19 Rotary Year and will be President in the 2019/20 Rotary Year. 2) Congratulations to Mary Hunter on being elected to the position of Secretary for the next Rotary Year. 3) Congratulations to Phil Hughes on being elected to the position of Treasurer for the next Rotary Year. 4) Congratulations to; Jim Barbey Colin Gard Faye Powell Ray Roberts Lorelle St Clair on being elected as Directors of The Rotary Nomads for the 2018/19 Rotary Year. Commiserations to Camilla Barker and Wayne Kemmis on missing out on a Director s position this time but thank you both for your wonderful contributions on the Board over many years. Thank you everyone for standing and keeping our Club well run into the future. Minutes of the AGM will be circulated soon. 5) I wondered how we would go having an online election but with minimal hiccups it worked quite well. Many thanks to my son, Tristan Clements for his help in checking the text messages and compiling the spreadsheet with the voting information. Having this happen and happen relatively seamlessly proves that it can be done online. Rotary Youth Transition Seminar It sounds like Andrew had a great time and improved his confidence during the recent Rotary Youth Transition Seminar that he attended. We can look forward to hearing him speak about this at a meeting in the not too distant future. Many thanks to Lorelle St Clair and Meralin Fallon in particular for organising this. It did take a bit of time and effort but was well received and good publicity for our club. Meetings 1) The next Board Meeting will be held on Wednesday evening, 31 st January at 5.45pm EST. 2) We will not be meeting on Wednesday 20 th or 27 th December or on Wednesday the 3 rd or 10 th January. Murwillumbah Muster/Changeover 1) Sharon Collins is organising the Tag-along Tour culminating at the Murwillumbah Muster. This Tour will start in Coonabarabran (the Astronomy Capital of Australia) although the Southern Belles may hook up

with each other in the days before this. Hopefully there will be a few of the Northern Lights on the tour too. Your attendance at this event needs to be communicated to Sharon by January 15 th.

Clemmo Joker in the Jungle Dennis certainly keeps us on our toes with an ever changing array of special name drawing apps last night a Jungle theme so where is the Joker amongst this scary lot above? Two lucky people emerged from the Jungle firstly Janelle who couldn t find the elusive fellow, then Camilla drew a King of Hearts. Get ready for a nice big kitty in 2018 announced next year. It is extremely important to retain traces of venom for use with venom identification kits Do NOT incise or cut the bite, or apply a high tourniquet. Cutting or incising the bite won't help. High tourniquets are ineffective and can be fatal if released Do bandage firmly, splint and immobilise to stop the spread of venom. All the major medical associations recommend slowing the spread of venom by placing a folded pad over the bite area and then applying a firm bandage. It should not stop blood flow to the limb or congest the veins. Only remove the bandage in a medical facility, as the release of pressure will cause a rapid flow of venom through the bloodstream Do NOT allow the victim to walk or move their limbs. Use a splint or sling to minimise all limb movement. Put the patient on a stretcher or bring transportation to the patient Do seek medical help immediately as the venom can cause severe damage to health and even death within a few hours Get the full story here : Snake Bite

Day 5 Travel to Armidale 111km (2.0 hrs drive based on 80km per hr average, so will take longer up the Moonbi mountain). Armidale Showgrounds (dog friendly). Cost $25.00 powered, $20.00 unpowered. 6. Day 6 Armidale Showgrounds visit surrounds (a work in progress). 7. Day 7 Travel to Nymboida Canoe Centre 159km (2.5 hrs drive) this road is good, scenic and a bit curvy. Nymboida Canoe Centre Nymboida Canoe Centre (dog friendly) Cost $12.00 per person per night. There are 16 powered sites. Visit Russell Crowe Museum of Interesting Things, Nymboida. 8. Day 8 Nymboida Canoe Centre, River Tunnel road to Glen Innes (day trip). This is where the tunnel is. For those with high clearance vehicles you can opt to try to car pool with others, or do something else (e.g. go via Grafton to Glen Innes). 9. Day 9 155km (2hr drive) Coraki Riverside Caravan Park (dog friendly). 11. Murwillumbah
