3 President s Message Last Wednesday night the Group 6 Forum was held at the Lucas Hotel in Latrobe. It was a very well attended meeting and in fact a number of people turned up who hadn t RSVP d which made the seating rather squishy and the hotel did well to get meals out to everyone as they did. President s from each Rotary Club spoke about upcoming events in the months and two speakers from Devonport spoke about mental health issues in the area. One of the events I spoke about is the car rally we are holding in January next year. The date has been put down as 15 th January which is a Tuesday. The problem with this is that we wouldn t be getting under way until after 5.30pm at the earliest, the rally would last an hour or more and then we would have to wait for the slower members (and the lost) to arrive before we begin dinner, possibly 7.30pm. I think that a weekend day would be preferable and I would appreciate feedback on which day most people prefer. At the last Board meeting a decision was made to hold elections for the new Board members on 11 th December. The week before, on 4 th December all members will be handed the Club financials and for those who are unable to attend, we will be able to send them to you if you let us know. Next week is the Board Meeting and we usually have Club Assembly on this evening, but on this occasion we will have Ted Burton talking to us about Disaster Aid which is very appropriate considering what is happening in Sulawesi. Ted was set to talk to us last week but because of the Group Forum we had to delay his talk and due to his commitments, this is the only date available. I mention this because I have been asked why we have a speaker on the night of a Board Meeting. Rotary Youth Driver Awarness The annual RYDA project, for Grade 10 students will be held at Symons Plains, from Monday 22 nd to Wednesday 31 st October. Assistance is required from Rotarians to ensure that groups move from session to Need to be at Symons Plains by 9.00am and finish by 2.00pm. If you are able to offer some assistance, please contact PP Annette. Do you have the skills to be able to lead Road Safety Sessions, maybe for future years. If you would like more information on what is involved, please talk to Annette.

(Please note details are subject to change) OCTOBER Tuesday 2 nd Tuesday 9 th Greg Hall, speaking on his experiences as a member of the Tasmanian Legislative Council Ted Burton Disaster Aid, Tasmanian Representative Ted will be describing the project set up in Bhutan, where disaster Aid is proposing to supply 150 Water Hydrants (water filters) to a primary school, where currently they have no clean drinking water (The Deloraine Primary School is just one of many primary schools supporting the project) My Five - Anne Forsyth Board Meeting Tuesday 16 th Vocational Visit to Star Theatre, Invermay.
