5 Basic Reservations Fares Fares References: HELP 4F HELP 4FOPT Worldspan offers millions of fares for cities worldwide. Fare and rule text displays contain the complete rule information filed by individual airlines. The fare and rule information is loaded via data received from the Airline Tariff Publishing Company (ATPCO) database providing the most accurate information available. Fares and rules are loaded several times throughout the day. Updates occur each time a tariff transmission is received from ATPCO. The following fare displays are available in Worldspan: Specific Airline fares for a specified airline Money Saver all airlines fares Joint fares with more than one airline in the routing, published as a single amount Historical fares past 13 months of fare and rule data The function identifier to access fares is 4F plus the city pair. Other options can also be used to further define the fares, for example, travel dates, passenger type codes, and fare type codes. Additionally, shortcut entries can be used to move between availability and fare displays Page 1

6 Basic Reservations Fares Specific Airline Fares The Worldspan fare type default for the specific airline display is NLX, a combination of normal (NL) and excursion (EX) fares. See HELP FTC. These fares are displayed lowest to highest beginning with roundtrip and progressing to one way. The function identifier is 4F plus the city pair or airport code. This displays the airline s own fares; use a dash (-) and airline code to specify the desired airline if different than the host. The header line includes the IATA traffic areas that apply to the origin and destination. The second line indicates if the routing is based on the maximum permitted mileage (MPM) and the global indicator transatlantic (AT). The number 4630 is the specific number of miles that apply. Message lines in the international display become very important. Below is an example of this information. To return to the main display, enter ML (move left). U.S. domestic fares usually apply year round. Transatlantic, transpacific, and fares to resorts such as San Juan PR, can have seasons. 14 Basic Reservations Fares The following symbols can appear in the SEASON APPLICATION columns: Symbol Explanation O Outbound The seasonal date range is directional and used for the outbound (origin) trip. I Inbound The seasonal date range is directional and used for the inbound (returning) Change Symbol The outbound (origin) date determines the round trip fare to be charged. BLANKS A blank space indicates the seasonal date range is NON-directional and used for both the outbound and inbound. - (dash) Appears when seasonal rules apply. A maximum of two seasonal date ranges display. The message tag MORE SEASONS IN RULE is an alert to display the rule for complete details on seasons. Page

15 Fares Basic Reservations Joint Fares Reference: HELP 4J INFO 4J Joint fares apply to the U.S. including Hawaii and Alaska. They also apply between the USA and Canada or within Canada. Joint fares involve interline travel between two airlines. The joint fare display function identifier is 4J. The 4J works similar to the 4F and all 4F options apply (i.e., If a travel date is not entered, the default is today). If a fare type is not entered the default is normal and excursion fares. MR and MRS options apply. A unique option applies to joint fares, -A. This denotes ALL airlines and displays ALL joint fares. In addition, you can specify a connection city, # (city code), limiting the display to those fares and airlines connecting in the specified city. 16 Basic Reservations Fares Ultimate Fare Search Reference: HELP UFS Options can be added to the fare display limiting the number and types of fares that appear in the display. Ultimate Fare Search (UFS) automatically edits the fare request for seasonal restrictions, advance purchase requirements, day-of-week, applications, effective dates, minimum/maximum stay requirements, and blackout dates. It does not edit for time of day, routing, or multiple airports. Fares not applicable on the requested day of departure do not display. MR (move right) and MRS (move right seasonal) apply. Any options found under HELP UFS can be applied to the 4F entry. Some common options are listed below. To cancel UFS enter: 4F/LCXL. 22 Basic Reservations Fares Automated Rules Reference: HELP RULES INFO RULES Automated rules provide access to the complete fare rule information that has been filed by the airline with ATPCO. ATPCO transmits updates to domestic rules a minimum of three times per day and international updates are made a minimum of four times per day. The mini rule is available as an alternate to the full text version. The mini rule display provides highlights of the full text rule and TAB prompts allowing quick access to the full rule. To display the mini rule, use 4F. and specify the rule line number desired. Cities separated with a dash (-) indicate TO that city, but any city can be omitted. The asterisk (*) indicates the END of the routing. The above example would read: From ATL to either STL or CHI, or DFW on American Airlines. Connecting to American Airlines in either SJC or RNO to LAX. Historical Fares Reference: HELP 4FHIST Historical fares display fares and rules for the past 13 months. Ticket date and travel date are mandatory including the year. 26 Basic Reservations Fares Sector Mileage Reference: HELP 4F/ Mileage between cities can be calculated using city or airport codes. Mileage can be calculated from a PNR using the segment numbers. This process uses standard established mileage and may not reflect the actual air miles. Worldspan uses these mileage amounts when constructing international fares based on Maximum Permitted Mileage or MPM. Example: Request mileage from Chicago to Rome with connections in New York and London.
