Information in this sction was obtaind from City publications, including th Parks and Facilitis Nds ssssmnt (2008) ENVIRONMENTL SETTING Rdwood City has approximatly 226 acrs of activ dvlopd parkland and approximatly 700 acrs of dsignatd opn spac. Parks in th sphr of influnc ara contribut an additional 7 acrs to th plan ara, for a total of about 233 acrs of dvlopd parkland in th plan ara (th City plus sphr of influnc aras) as a whol. 1 pproximatly 19 prcnt (or about 43 acrs) of th City s activ parkland is associatd with school facilitis (including athltic filds and playgrounds). Othr public park and rcrational facilitis in th plan ara includ community cntrs, trails, and swimming pools, which may b within City parks. Th opn spac aras provid passiv rcrational opportunitis, but hav othr primary purposs, such as habitat protction, that prclud th aras from bing considrd as activ dvlopd parkland.
