5 Rsults Our first tim pass rsults of our Aviation Managmnt studnts taking th Amrican Association of Airport Excutivs (AAAE) hav bn disappointing. Our aviation managmnt faculty, which includs an advisory board mmbr, mt with a currnt studnt and th Assistant Dpartmnt Had to dtrmin what can b don to improv studnt prformanc. It was dcidd that svral aras ndd attntion. A nw class is bing dvlopd to introduc studnts to th AAAE moduls arlir in thir ducation. A cours is bing dividd into two to allow mor tim to covr th contnt of th moduls. Pilot ratings ar bing rmovd as a rquirmnt to allow thos physically not abl to pass an FAA physical to nroll in th program, but a flight lab which will not rquir solo flight is bing addd so that studnts will still gt a flight xprinc. Our ATC crtificat and option hav suffrd low nrollmnt sinc thy wr institutd. W wr not slctd as a Collgiat Training Initiativ (CTI) school on our last submission. Basd on th fact that graduats of CTI schools ar having to wait two yars bfor bing accptd at th FAA Acadmy it did not appar that our graduats would hav viabl carrs in ATC. W hav submittd paprwork to dlt ths curricula from our offrings. Many of our flight training dvics ar about 20 yar's old, gnric and do not allow for training in th glass cockpit tchnology that is availabl in our aircraft. In ordr to improv our training and rduc th cost to studnts, th dpartmnt purchasd two flight training dvics a C172R and a C172S modl. W hav liminatd a Frasca 141 and an AST3000 simulator. W hav rviwd th cost of our multingin training aircraft and find that th incrasing cost of spar parts is driving up our cost pr hour and th ag of th aircraft is rsulting in incrasd down tim. W ar looking at rplacing our multingin aircraft and buying a rprsntativ flight training dvic. This is th first yar for assssing th avionics SLOs. W ar going to wait anothr yar to stablish th bas lin bfor making changs. In on cours w did find that avionics studnts had difficulty on an assignmnt to writ a factual or fictional papr about an avionics invntion thy cratd. Th avionics advisory council rcommndd that th instructor giv th studnts additional options such as a rsarch papr or rdsign projct. In Maintnanc this yar, th aras of wlding, aircraft drawings, aircraft hydraulics and aircraft standards (documntation of rcords and logbooks), powrplant ovrhaul and ngin lctrical wr idntifid as aras nding mor mphasis to improv our studnt passing rat. Our studnt FAA initial tst rat is high, abov assssmnt projctions. Still following an assssmnt fdback loop w always striv to mak our program curriculum bttr. Basd on tsting obsrvations from FAA Examinrs (Sojka and Smith) aras in wlding, aircraft drawings, aircraft hydraulics, aircraft standards (documntation of rcords and logbooks), powrplant ovrhaul and ngin lctrical wr idntifid as aras nding mor mphasis to improv studnt passing rat. This information was vrbally providd to th Aviation Maintnanc faculty. In ordr to support SLO 2 global prspctiv on sustainabl businss practics w hav bn trying to gt mor studnts involvd in intrnational xprincs. In ordr to stablish contacts in forign

6 countris our dpartmnt had and a faculty mmbr tourd svral univrsitis in Australia. W also had a faculty xchang with Worms Univrsity in Grmany. W hav a studnt doing an xchang in England this acadmic yar and two studnts in a global logistics class that will b travling to Europ for a wk. Our UAS option is making changs to th cours nams and contnt basd on fdback from studnts that hav gon through th program, informal discussions with industry rgarding thir dsird skills, and a dsir for a mor stramlind and dfind curriculum. Thy did not solicit formal fdback from industry, instad this is a combination of a lot of lssons larnd ovr tim....rsults from assssmnt 2 and what was larnd from th rsults This yar w ar abl to look at snior survy rsults by option. Som of th Aviation Accrditation Board Intrnational aviation cor aras, which ar includ in th pilot curriculum ar not in th maintnanc curriculum bcaus of th high numbr of hours in th A&P crtificat. W hav significantly lowr rportd progrss by maintnanc studnts in th aras of safty, human factors, airport, airspac and ATC and mtorology. W ar making svral changs in th maintnanc curriculum in ordr to allow studnts to complt thir A&P crtificat by th nd of thir junior yars so that thy can utiliz thir A&P crtificat during thir snior yar and thy will hav had som practical xprinc whn thy graduat. In SLO 1 tamwork w saw som ncouraging improvmnt. Last yar only 12 out of 16 flt thy had improvd thir tamwork skills whil this yar w saw 16 out of 17 xprss a positiv rsult. Our initial rsults for SLO 3 choosing thical courss of action ar ncouraging with 15 out of 17 studnts indicating that thy fl thy ar progrssing toward undrstanding th thical standards of th aviation disciplin. W will continu to gathr data on this SLO. Our initial rsults for SLO 4 liflong larning ar ncouraging with 16 out of 17 studnts indicating that thy fl thy ar progrssing toward bing liflong larnrs. W will continu to gathr data on this SLO. In SLO 6 oral and writtn communication skills, w saw mixd rsults with som improvmnt in oral skills and som dcras in thir viws of thir writtn skills.
