2 SEARCH AND RESCUE INFORMATION - WEEKLY PERIOD: 28 JAN 19 TO 3 FEB 19 DATE/TIME INCIDENT # 28 13: : : : : : : : EMBC REGION INCIDENT SWE INLAND WATER ELT/ #VICTIMS # EMBC VOL LOCATED ALIVE DEAD NO COMMENTS Hope and Chilliwack SAR members responded to rescue a subject who crossed the river between the Othello Tunnels in Hope area. The subject became hypothermic and needed assistance getting safely back to shore. Subject was brought out and handed off to BCAS for treatment. CTL LAND SAR members responded from Nanaimo SAR, Hope SAR, Shuswap SAR, Nicola Valley SAR, Princeton SAR, Vernon SAR, Kamloops SAR, Central Okanagan SAR, Chilliwack SAR, Comox Valley SAR, Coquitlam SAR, Grand Forks SAR, Kent Harrison SAR, Mission SAR, North Shore Rescue, Ridge Meadows SAR, Oliver Osoyoos SAR, PEP AIR CTL Region, PEP AIR NEA Region, Surrey SAR and Logan Lake SAR to locate a missing horseback rider in the Mamette Lake Rd area in Merritt. SAR was stood down with nothing located after exhausting the search area. SEA LAND COSAR members responded to a despondent male near Trapping Creek near Big White. SAR was stood down after the subject was spotted by RCMP heading back into town. SEA LAND Golden SAR members responded to locate a lost skier who skied out of bounds near Canyon Creek in Kicking Horse Resort in Golden. The skier was located in good condition and was flown out to safety via helicopter. SEA LAND 13 4 Creston and 9 Nelson SAR members responded to an SOS from a SPOT beacon on the Monk Creek Forest Service Road near Creston. Teams were stood down en route due to a false activation. SWE LAND Whistler SAR members responded to an RCMP request for assistance for a SPOT beacon activation in the Mt Weart area. The subject was extracted and handed off to Whistler Medical Clinic. SWE LAND Squamish SAR members responded to a female that fell 50 meters on Conroy FSR near Squamish. The patient was extracted and handed off to BCAS. VIR AIR ELT 4 4 PEP Air members responded to locate an ELT sounding in the vicinity of the Victoria Airport. ELT was traced to an American aircraft carrier in US waters. SEA LAND Castlegar and Nelson SAR members responded to search for an overdue camper in the area of Appledale West Road and Perry's Back Road. Subject was discovered deceased and Nelson SAR HETS team was used to extract the body which was then handed off to the Coroner VIR LAND Comox Valley SAR members responded to a

3 search for a despondent female in Courtenay. SAR was stood down after RCMP located the subject : VIR LAND Nanaimo SAR responded to RCMP request for assistance locating a missing boy from Bayview Elementary School. SAR was stood down before deploying when boy was found by RCMP : : : : : : : : : : : SWE LAND Squamish SAR members responded to BCAS request to pack out an injured hiker up the Petgill Lake Trail in Squamish. On arrival subject was able to walk out on own and refused ambulance assistance. VIR LAND PEMO SAR members responded to RCMP request for assistance locating 2 lost hikers in Dean Park. Subjects were located, passed to BCAS and transported to their vehicles. SWE LAND Squamish SAR members responded to retrieve a subject from the Elfin Lake area. The subject was airlifted out by SAR and transferred to BCAS. SEA LAND South Columbia Grand Forks, Rossland and Castlegar SAR members responded to RCMP request to search for two overdue hikers at the 7 Summits Trail area. One subject had mild frostbite and was sent to the hospital. SWE LAND South Cariboo SAR members responded to a female in distress in Lac De Roche. Patient was assisted by locals at scene and SAR was stood down. SWE LAND Ridge Meadows and Coquitlam SAR members responded to locate a despondent male in the Pitt Meadows area. SAR was stood down by RCMP after search yielded negative results. CTL LAND Penticton SAR members responded to RCMP request for assistance with a stranded driver in the Peachland area. Subject brought out alive and well by SAR. CTL LAND Vernon SAR members responded to assist with an injured hang glider 200 meters down a cliff. SAR was stood down when it was discovered to be an construction tarp. SWE LAND Pemberton SAR members responded to an SOS Beacon going off close to Meager Creek Hotspring. Subject rescued OK after falling into a river and brought out by SAR. CTL LAND Penticton SAR members responded to assist with a stranded driver in Peachland. Subject brought out alive and well by SAR. SEA LAND Revelstoke SAR members responded to RCMP request for assistance with an injured snowmobile rider in the Boulder Mountain area. The subject was located and handed off to BCAS. VIR INLAND WATER Cowichan Valley SAR member responded to assist RCMP following report of a bridge jumper into the Cowichan River. SAR was stood down prior to response when advised the subject called in falsely.

4 03 19: WEEK TOTAL YEAR TO DATE CTL LAND Penticton SAR members responded to assist with 3 stranded drivers in Peachland. 5 subjects were located by SAR and passed to RCMP ELT ELT - 31

5 WEEKLY INCIDENT REPORT Jan 28 to Feb 3, 2019 NATURAL On 03 Feb 2019, an incident was open for a Virtual EOC in the Squamish District to monitor the storm event as several trees fell blocking major roadway access. TASK MISCELLANEOUS On 29 Jan 2019 an incident was opened to cover travel under PEP Air from Victoria to Bella Coola related to the CCRD Nuhawk partnership agreement.
