2 SEARCH AND RESCUE INFORMATION - WEEKLY PERIOD: 18 JUN 18 TO 24 JUN 18 DATE/TIME INCIDENT # 17 20: UPDATE 18 03: : : : : : : : : : : EMBC REGION INCIDENT ELT/ #VICTIMS # EMBC VOL LOCATED ALIVE DEAD NO COMMENTS NWE LAND Burns Lake and 6 Fort St James SAR members responded to 3 stranded off-roaders outside Ft. St. James. The subjects walked out on their own and SAR was stood down. SWE LAND Chilliwack SAR members respond for a despondent subject in the area of Ballam Road and McDonald Road. The SAR team was stood down when the RCMP located the individual at home. SWE LAND Squamish SAR members responded to an RCMP request for a lost hiker on the Gondola Trail near Squamish. The subject was retrieved by SAR in good condition and was escorted to her vehicle. SWE LAND North Shore Rescue members responded to RCMP request for a lost male hiker on Dog Mountain, Mt Seymour area. The hiker was rescued by SAR and was uninjured. SWE LAND Surrey SAR members responded to an RCMP request for a missing 71 year old in Surrey. The subject was located alive and well at their home by SAR. SWE LAND North Shore Rescue members responded for a lost hiker in the Seymour Valley. Subject retrieved by SAR in good condition. NWE Fort St James SAR members responded for 3 overdue boaters in the Omineca River area around Old Hogen. The subjects were rescued by SAR and returned to their boat in good condition. VIR LAND Alberni Valley Rescue members responded for an injured motorcyclist out of Port Alberni. The patient was retrieved by SAR and transferred to BCAS. LAND Penticton SAR members responded to calls for help on Saliken Drive in the canyon area of Penticton. Upon arrival at the area they came across a mountain biker who had fallen and was suffering from a neck injury. The patient was packaged and transported by helicopter to a waiting BCAS crew in Kelowna for further assessment and transport. SWE LAND Surrey and 7 Ridge Meadows SAR members responded for a missing elderly female in the Pinehead area of Surrey. The elderly lady was located and passed over to a BCAS crew for assessment and transport to the hospital. NEA 3 3 Robson Valley SAR members responded to an RCMP request to investigate reports of an overturned kayak in the Dore River near McBride. After conducting a shoreline search and only locating the kayak, RCMP stood down SAR and will attempt to locate owner of kayak. SEA LAND Nelson SAR member was stood down while mustering to respond to a BCAS request for assistance with multiple dropped 911 calls. BCAS units arrived at the location and it was discovered

SWE North Shore Rescue members responded to a report of a male in the water in the Capilano River at the Capilano River Park. the subject was retrieved by SAR and transferred to the Fire Department. VIR OCEAN Juan De Fuca SAR, 5 Metchosin SAR responded to RCMP request for a missing Kayaker last seen at Hoskin Point near Sooke. RCMP stood SAR down pending further information. NWE LAND Stewart, 10 Buckley Valley, 3 Terrace SAR and 4 PEP Air spotters responded to RCMP requesting for assistance in locating the occupants of an abandoned vehicle located off of Highway 33 in Dease Lake. The subjects were located by SAR alive and well and passed to BCAS. SWE LAND Central Fraser Valley SAR members responded to a RCMP request for assistance with a missing 70 y/o male with dementia that went missing from the Abbotsford Recreational Centre. The SAR managers had a group discussion regarding search plan at which point the RCMP called them back to stand them down because the subject was located. SWE Squamish SAR members responded to a missing person in Alice Lake that did not resurface. The SAR team was unable to locate the subject and stood down. NWE LAND Prince George SAR member responded to RCMP request for assistance in locating 2 lost hikers in the Mount Robson area. RCMP stood SAR down after the 2 hikers were located. LAND Vernon SAR and 7 COSAR members responded to BCAS request for assistance with an injured dirt biker on Blue Grouse Mountain Road. BCAS showed up by 4x4, evaluated the patient, and were able to transport the patient out via 4X4. SAR was stood down. SWE LAND North Shore Rescue members responded to an RCMP request to search for a missing hiker near Mount Seymour, North Vancouver. The subject was located and escorted back to their vehicle. SEA New Denver Fire Rescue members responded to an RCMP request to search for a despondent individual near Cape Horn on Slocan Lake. The team was stood down en route when RCMP located the individual in good condition. SEA LAND Fernie SAR members responded to rescue 7 stranded hikers on Mt. Proctor. The subjects were brought out using a helicopter and long line and escorted back to their vehicles. SEA LAND Cranbrook SAR and 7 Kimberley SAR members responded to RCMP request to rescue a stuck hiker up on Fisher Peak in the Cranbrook area. The subject was located alive, no injuries and was returned to safety Peachland Fire Department members responded to RCMP request for a flare sighting in Okanagan Lake. FD members responded in their zodiac and rescued 2 people on jet ski's who were towed to
4 22 14: : : : : : : : : : : shore safely. SWE LAND North Shore Rescue members responded to a missing male in the North Vancouver area. Subject was located and extricated from a creek, then passed onto BCAS. SWE LAND Central Fraser Valley SAR, 9 Mission SAR and 5 Ridge Meadows SAR members responded to an injured male in the Rock Point area of Mission. Subject has been located and transferred to BCAS. SEA Revelstoke SAR, 3 Nelson SAR and 9 New Denver Fire Rescue members responded to the discovery of an empty kayak floating down Wilson Creek just off of Highway 6 near New Denver. SAR and FD stood down shortly after activation as 2 subjects were located OK. SEA LAND Creston SAR members responded to RCMP request to search for someone in distress near Redman Road and Highway 3A in the Creston area. SAR was stood down after RCMP were able to locate and extricate subject from the bush where she was passed to BCAS for treatment. LAND South Cariboo SAR responded to search for a missing mushroom picker in the Clinton area. The subject was found in okay condition SWE LAND Kent Harrison SAR and 12 Chilliwack SAR members responded to a RCMP request for a para glider rescue in Harrison Mills. The subject was retrieved by SAR with a dislocated shoulder and was transported to BCAS. NEA LAND Central Cariboo, South Cariboo and Quesnel SAR members responded to locate a male that left his camping group in the Tyee Lake area following an argument and failed to return. Subject was located alive and well by SAR member responding to the search site. SWE Squamish SAR members responded to a possible person in the Squamish River. It was discovered that the subject was a sleeping bag and not a deceased body. SWE LAND Sunshine Coast SAR members responded to rescue an injured hiker in Smugglers Cove Marine Park. Members stood down when BCAS and a local fire department assisted the hiker into a water taxi. SEA Kimberley SAR members and 2 Cranbrook SAR members responded to an RCMP request to rescue 3 stranded rafters on the St. Mary River in the Kimberley area. RCMP managed to access the rafters and stood down the SAR team. VIR LAND Alberni Valley Rescue members responded to BCAS request for assistance with an injured cliff jumper in the Fossli Provincial Park. Subject was retrieved by the SAR team and transferred to BCAS : SWE Mission SAR responded to a missing adult male and two children who were riding a Seadoo on Stave Lake. SAR located the subjects safe and sound :26 VIR LAND Nanaimo, 9 Arrowsmith, 5 Ladysmith, 9 Comox
5 Valley and 9 Cowichan Valley SAR members responded to RCMP request to locate a missing 13 year old male from Zuiderzee Campground near Nanaimo. Subject was found alive and well : : : : : : : : : : : : Shuswap Lifeboat 1 members responded to a BCAS request to assist with a female with medical complications following a C-Section on a houseboat on the Shuswap Lake, near Sicamous. The patient was handed over to BCAS and was taken to hospital in Salmon Arm. VIR LAND Alberni Valley Rescue Squad responded to Della Falls to search for a lost hiker. RCMP helicopter was able to land at scene and rescue subject and SAR was stood down. SWE LAND Squamish SAR members responded to BCAS request to assist with an injured hiker. SAR carried injured subject out to trail head for hand-over to BCAS. VIR LAND Westcoast Inland and 10 Alberni Valley Rescue Squad responded to Mountain in the Colbalt Lake area to search for two lost hikers. SAR stood down when the hikers were located alive and well LAND Vernon SAR members responded to rescue a collapsed 72 year old female on the Ravine Edge Hiking Trail. The subject was located, flown out to safety and transported to hospital for treatment. VIR LAND 1 2 Alberni Valley Rescue Squad responded to the 2000 block of Alberni Highway to rescue a hiker with an ankle injury. SAR was stood down after a civilian was able to assist subject down to BCAS. SEA LAND Golden SAR members responded to rescue a hiker that fainted midway through a trail at Table Mountain. Injured subject was rescued via helicopter and transferred to BCAS Penticton FD members responded to pick up two people in the Channel Parkway that are stuck against a pillar, near Penticton. Fire was stood down on arrival after both subjects were able to self rescue. SEA LAND Nelson SAR members responded to assist with an injured 60 Y/O male mountain biker that sustained a possible head injury and a broken arm, on the Morning Mountain Bike Trails, near Blewett. Subject was passed to BCAS with lacerations to his head, face, a suspected broken arm and transported to hospital. LAND Penticton SAR members responded to a BCAS request to assist with a women who has fallen off of her bike and injured herself. The subject was successfully handed off to BCAS Pentiction Fire Dept and 4 Naramata Fire Rescue members responded to 4 rafters in distress on Okanagan Lake near Penticton. The subjects were being assisted by a civilian boat upon arrival and the rescue teams were stood down. VIR LAND Nanaimo SAR members responded to a BCAS request to assist with a woman who had overturned her quad and suspected to have a head injury. SAR rescued, packaged and transferred to BCAS
6 24 16: WEEK TOTAL YEAR TO DATE SWE after sustaining major head trauma and broken arm Chilliwack SAR members responded to a BCAS request to assist with an overturned boat on the Chilliwack River. SAR was stood down as BCAS was able to access the patient who was brought to dry land ELT ELT - 13
7 SEARCH AND RESCUE INFORMATION - WEEKLY PERIOD: 18 JUN 18 TO 24 JUN 18 DATE/TIME INCIDENT # 24 16: : : WEEK TOTAL YEAR TO DATE EMBC REGION INCIDENT ELT/ #VICTIMS # EMBC VOL LOCATED ALIVE DEAD NO COMMENTS Peachland Fire Rescue members responded to RCMP request for assistance with 2 stranded kayakers in Okanagan Lake. The subjects were pulled back to shore successfully. LAND Barriere SAR members responded to a BCAS request for assistance for a male possibly having a stroke. SAR was stood down at hall as BCAS had their air ambulance landed and no longer needed SAR assistance. LAND Nicola Valley SAR members responded to RCMP request for assistance with 2 lost horseback riders in the Merritt area. RCMP located the subjects and they were OK ELT ELT - 13
8 WEEKLY INCIDENT REPORT June FLOODING On 22 June 2018, a flooding incident was opened on Osoyoos Indian Band in response to potential flooding of Crawford Lake. ENVIRONMENT On 19 June 2018, an incident was opened for a landslide that occurred on 17 June at 1445 Roshard Rd in Lillooet District. Due to danger to residents in the area an Evacuation Order for a residence and Evacuation Alert was issued for an additional 2 properties nearby. INTERFACE FIRE On 20 June 2018, an incident was opened to support activities pertaining to fires in the Nithi Valley Electoral Area D of the Bulkley Nechako Regional District. On 21 June 2018, a grass fire occurred in Bachelor Heights in the Kamloops area. A tactical evacuation of 12 homes was required. On 23 June 2018 an incident was opened to activate an EOC in the Cariboo Regional District due to potential evacuations from a wildfire near Crazy Bear Lake. On 23 June 2018, an incident was opened in order to activate a Structural Protection Unit from Salmon Arm. The team was sent to Prince George in order to respond to an interface fire. DGIR CODE 2 On 18 June 2018 a reported camp barge with a large fuel tank onboard was sinking in the Fraser River near Mission. The incident was raised to CODE 2 (urgent status) after the quantity of fuel was confirmed to be 10,000 liters and local communities and First Nations were at risk if the material spilled. On 19 June 2018 a structural fire at an auto-wrecking and recycling plant in Abbotsford was raised to CODE 2 (urgent status) due to media attention, evacuations, and the possibility of further explosions at the location. MISCELLANEOUS On 18 June 2018, BCAS requested assistance from Texada FD members, for a lift assist for an injured subject on a beach. On 20 June 2018, an EMBC RM requested a task number for the activities related to the 2018 VIR ISC (Indigenous Services Canada) Partnership Table
9 On 22 June 2018, an incident was opened for a water mainline break in Joe Rich. An EOC was activated due to possible land slippage.
