1 Ranking the schools Important notes to the rankings In this table, schools are ranked (on the left side of the page) in descending order from 1 to 278 according to their academic performance as measured by the Overall rating out of 10 (shown on the right side of the table) for the school year. Each school s five-year average ranking and Overall rating out of 10 are also listed. The higher the overall rating (out of 10), the higher the rank awarded to the school. Where schools tied in the overall rating, they were awarded the same rank. Where fewer than five of data were available n/a appears in the table. Not all the province s secondary schools are included in the tables or the ranking. Excluded are schools at which fewer than 15 students were enrolled in grade 12. These schools do not generate a sufficiently large set of data about their students to allow a fair and reasonable analysis and presentation of the results. Also excluded from the ratings and rankings are centres for adult education and continuing education, schools that cater largely to non-resident foreign students, and certain alternative schools that do not offer a full program of courses. The exclusion of a school from the Report Card should in no way be construed as a judgement of the school s effectiveness. 1 1 Vancouver Crofton House Vancouver St. George s School Vancouver York House School Vancouver Little Flower Academy Cowichan Valley Brentwood College Greater Victoria St. Margaret s Vancouver University Hill Secondary Cowichan Valley Shawnigan Lake Greater Victoria St. Michaels University School n/a Surrey Southridge Senior Secondary 9.1 n/a Greater Victoria Glenlyon-Norfolk Senior School West Vancouver Collingwood School Greater Victoria Pacific Christian School n/a Maple Ridge Meadowridge Senior School 8.4 n/a Vancouver Point Grey Secondary Vancouver Prince of Wales Secondary n/a Coquitlam Archbishop Carney Secondary 8.3 n/a 89
