FARNBOROUGH CENTRAL (Empress and Town Centre Wards) Your SNT team are: PC David Carpenter PCSO Ricky Chappell PCSO Michelle Curtis The Community Beat Forum took place on 15th March.

Following on from the forum, it was decided that the two new priorities for the Farnborough Central and Empress beat would be theft of pedal cycles and theft from motor vehicles.

In regards to Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB), we have seen a reduction in the town centre. We advise that when leaving your vehicle to ensure that it is locked with no valuables on show.

We are now changing the format of these meetings to a community panel setup. Following on from the forum, it was decided that the two new priorities for the Farnborough Central and Empress beat would be theft of pedal cycles and theft from motor vehicles. We have been working with Safer North Hants Community Safety Team to deliver cycle security stands around the town and promote good practices, as well as inform people of our D lock scheme. In regards to Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB), we have seen a reduction in the town centre. We advise that when leaving your vehicle to ensure that it is locked with no valuables on show. There have recently been a few dwelling burglaries whereby access was gained using garden tools from the rear of the properties, some in unlocked sheds. We urge people to ensure the following: 1. Properties are secure when leaving or going to bed as well 2. Sheds are locked. Spring is on its way and hopefully with some better weather, we recommend that you secure all windows when leaving your house. 1. Theft of pedal cycles - the local Beat Team have been working with Safer North Hants Community Safety Team to deliver cycle security stands around the town and promote good practices as well as inform people of our D lock scheme. We also continue to patrol cycle theft hotspots and conduct cycle security assessments 2. Theft from motor vehicles - this priority is currently undergoing assessment. 3 FARNBOROUGH NORTH (Fernhill & Cherrywood Wards) Your SNT team are: PC Katherine Armstrong PC Neil Prescott PCSO Gordon Pengilley PCSO Mitch While Community Priority Updates In terms of crime, thankfully there have been no burglaries in the North area over the last month, although sadly, there have been in some of the other areas in Farnborough. There has been one theft of vehicle and also a spate of number plate thefts. Residents are reminded to check the Hampshire Police website for information on crime prevention. Operation Autumn continues to be a priority across Farnborough which relates to tool thefts from vans. Residents who keep tools in vans are reminded to take all security precautions necessary to keep property safe. Again, more information can be found on the Hampshire Police website. Last week the Rushmoor Neighbourhood Policing team with assistance from other departments executed five drug warrants across Farnborough and Aldershot. These warrants were executed under the Operation Fortress umbrella. Two of the addresses were on the Farnborough North beat. Although no arrests were made, the operation has proved a success by the submission of further intelligence; the seizure of a number of mobile telephones, the destruction of potential weapons and an amount of suspected controlled substances being seized. The warrants will have caused disruption to the drug supply activity within the district and hopefully act as a deterrent to anyone who is considering visiting Rushmoor or Hampshire with the intention of taking part in the supply of drugs. Lastly we would like to remind you of the major incident we had in Mayfield Road on Friday 26th January 2018, during the early afternoon, whereby a male by the name of Richard Hardy was murdered. This is to ask if anyone has any information that they have not yet provided to Police to please get in touch. This can be done through calling Crime Stoppers on or through their website or the Police via 101, quoting Operation name Bracket. 1. Theft of pedal cycle (Farnborough Sixth Form College) We have had no reported thefts of pedal cycles this month. We continue to target offenders, but if YOU use a bike and do not want it stolen, then make sure you have a good quality lock, i.e. a solid chain or D-lock, not a cable lock. We will be looking at attending Farnborough Sixth Form College and promoting bicycle security to all the students. 2. Graffiti mainly along Sandy Lane Graffiti was raised by the local Councillors as a priority for Farnborough North and we have noticed a lot appearing on our beat, especially around the Sandy lane area. We are aware that Farnborough West also have the same issue and have raised it as one of their priorities. We will look at working together with Farnborough West and the Council in trying to resolve this and to identify who is causing the criminal damage. If anyone has any information in relation to this, please call us on 101, or Crime Stoppers on to report what you know. On the week beginning 16th April, Police along with the Council will be doing a graffiti busting week. Those in private housing who have been affected by graffiti will receive consent forms to sign in due course to allow the Council to remove the graffiti Speedwatch Fernhill Road 438 vehicles checked, one vehicle travelling above the speed limit. Hawley Lane and Sandy Lane were unfortunately cancelled this month. Don t forget Beat Forums are held with Police and local Councillors on the first Saturday of every month between 10am and 12 noon at The Fox pub, Chapel Lane for you to come and ask questions about issues that are affecting you.

Farnborough Police, with help from neighbouring areas, carried out three drugs warrants in our area. These warrants were part of our Operation Fortress initiative to tackle transient dealers from the London area. We identified three suspected addresses where transient dealers were thought to be operating from and carried out a search in each. There were no arrests made from these searches but several drug related items were seized. Thank you to all those who came and spoke to officers at the coffee with cops morning held at The Teashop Around The Corner this month. It was great to have a chat with our residents about the issues in the area. We will hopefully look to hold another one in a month or two, however, we will make sure we send out the Hampshire Alert further in advance next time! We will attempt to deliver as many as possible but if we do miss anyone who would like a pack, please contact rushmoor.police@hampshire.pnn.police.uk and request one. 2. Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) No reports this month of any nuisance ASB at any of the parks in the South Farnborough area! This is likely due to the cold weather we have been experiencing. We will continue to monitor the parks and would encourage residents to report any issues. No events currently planned Upcoming events One of the issues raised during the coffee morning was the door to door salesmen that we seem to have in the area every couple of months or so, often referred to as Nottingham Knockers as the majority of salesmen seem to be from the North of the country. These males offer goods from a holdall bag that they carry with them and often say to people that they are ex-offenders rehabilitating back into work. The main problem with these males is that they often turn abusive when their sale is turned down. We would encourage residents to report this behaviour to us at the time of the incident as it allows us to speak and deal with those involved. Vehicle Crime There was only one incident this month which was suspected to be an attempted break-in to a works van. A van parked in Southampton Street had a hole drilled into the rear door of the vehicle. Entry was not gained and nothing was stolen. In an attempt to reduce the amount of theft from works vans in the area, we have created an advice pack for van drivers. The Beat Team has been out this month with crime prevention packs to deliver to any addresses that have a van parked outside. The pack has useful information for van owners so they can make their vans less of a target to thieves.

5 FARNBOROUGH WEST (Cove & Southwood Ward, St John s Ward & West Heath Wards) Your SNT team are: PC Lee Jeffers PCSO Lisa Attwood PCSO Max Clayton Burglaries: Although our statistics show the Farnborough West Neighbourhood has suffered two burglaries during March, these are only due to technicality. Both incidents occurred whilst persons were in the address by consent, either working at the address or living in another part of the address. It has been alleged that these persons have entered another part of the building in which they had no permission to be and whilst there they have stolen items. Neither of the incidents involved any forced entry to the premises. Vehicle Crime: There were four thefts from motor vehicles reported in the Farnborough West Neighbourhood during March. On 6th March between 1800 hours and 2220 hours, two vans in Broadhurst were forced open and tools stolen. On 21st March between 1155 hours and 1210 hours a purse was stolen from a vehicle left unsecure in Morrison s car park. Also overnight on 24th March between 1900 hours and 0730 hours the following morning a window of a vehicle was smashed whilst parked in Blunden Road and items from within stolen. Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB): During March there have been several complaints in relation to ASB in the Morrison s car park in Southwood during the late evenings. The complaints relate to gatherings of people with cars, playing loud music and playing football on the empty car park which is disturbing the local residents, sometimes into the early morning. The Farnborough West NPT have liaised with Supermarket Management and have reached an agreement with them to secure the car park gates during closing time. In addition, Police have, over the last week, conducted patrols in the car park during the evening, identifying vehicles and persons gathering in the car park, giving words of warning about their behaviour and advising them that in future the gates will be locked. These actions appear to have had the desired effect, as there have been no recent reported ASB incidents. Reduce incidents of criminal damage in the form of graffiti The Farnborough West NPT have been out and about recording and photographing locations where there is graffiti. We have also asked residents to report any location they have identified to Rushmoor Borough Council via their website. We have liaised with the Safer North Hampshire Team and they are now planning a graffiti removal week during April when a professional team will be employed with the proper removal equipment. For small amounts of graffiti, the Safer North Hampshire Team have purchased graffiti wipes; these are useful only on smooth surfaces. If you have a small amount of graffiti on your property, then we can supply you with a pack including the wipes to remove it. If you have a large amount of graffiti on your property, then with your consent (signed form) we can make a request for this to be removed during the graffiti removal drive in April. If you would like a graffiti removal pack or would like a consent form to sign, then please lee.jeffers@hampshire.pnn.police.uk Reduce vehicle crime across the Farnborough West Neighbourhood In an attempt to prevent further thefts in the Morrison s car park in Southwood, the Farnborough West NPT have created two large crime prevention advice posters for Supermarket Management to display at the entrance to the store. These signs will hopefully remind members of the public to lock their vehicles and to be vigilant to any suspicious activity in this area. To try and reduce tool breaks to work vans, the Farnborough West NPT, during their patrols, have been identifying potential vulnerable work vans around the neighbourhood. Police have then visited the owners of these vehicles, briefed them on the series of van breaks that have occurred across Rushmoor and have been given a crime prevention pack. Reduce speeding on Fernhill Road, Southwood Road, Prospect Road and Minley Road See below. Speedwatch results: On 5th March, SpeedWatch checked the speeds of 278 vehicles on Prospect Road between 15:00 hrs and 16:00 hrs recording the details of four vehicles travelling above the enforcement speed. On 6th March, SpeedWatch checked the speeds of 410 vehicles on Southwood Road between 14:30 hrs and 15:30 hrs recording the details of five vehicles travelling above the enforcement speed. On 14th March, SpeedWatch checked the speeds of 438 vehicles on Fernhill Road between 14:30 hrs and 15:30 hrs recording the details of one vehicle travelling above the enforcement speed.

Officers have continued plain clothed patrols in the town centre to target theft and to tackle street drinking in the park. Police are also liaising with shop owners and the Council to discourage street drinkers congregating in front of shops and alleyways. Apart from couple of reports of youths hanging around in Union Street, it has been fairly quiet compared to the past. With the help from CCTV a part of the group has been identified and a anti-social behaviour (ASB) warning letter to be issued. Following a lengthy investigation towards an address in Station Road, Aldershot, the tenant has now been evicted and the property is secured as the address was used for drug distribution. 1. These reports are theft of tools from vans and we have also had cars broken into and debit cards stolen. This is happening across Aldershot South and the surrounding areas. Make sure your vehicle is secure and with no valuables visible and do not leave tools in vans overnight. Please be aware criminals will try door handles and if they see an opportunity they will take it. Please report any suspicious behaviour to 101 or 999 in an emergency. These recorded incidents suggest that both individuals are approaching members of the public and feeding them similar hard luck stories whilst asking them for quantities of money to help resolve their situations. It s been established from Police enquiries that these individuals are moving from place to place acting in the same reported manner. The male is described as being white, approximately forty to forty-fifty years of age and about five foot ten inches in height. He is also said to be of a large build and recently has been seen clean shaven with slicked back hair. Reporting persons added that he appeared to have a traveller accent. The female has also been described as being white, approximately forty years of age and about five foot seven inches in height. This female also appears of a large build sporting long dark hair. It is reported she has a traveller accent. Although there is no immediate threat of harm to anyone, we would like to spread awareness of these two individuals and their behaviour as we hope to protect vulnerable members of the public falling victim to them. If you do happen to come across these two persons or anyone acting in a similar manner, we urge you to contact us at the nearest opportunity with as much information about them. 1.
