A number again have been entered via front doors which were not double locked with a key. Please make sure you are double locking your front doors with a key whether they are either wood or UPVC. Motor vehicle crime has increased significantly. A number of vehicles have been entered without damage being caused. Please if you use a key fob to lock your car check the door handle before walking away. If you have a keyless car that opens and locks without you using a fob please think about purchasing a faraday or security pouch to store your car key in as this blocks the signal and prevents any gadget being able to read the key when left inside your property. We have found that cars may remain unlocked if the key is inside a property and left near where the car is parked on the drive which will be prevented if the key is stored inside a security pouch. If may also be advisable to purchase a steering lock. Enfield Borough

2 Welcome to the latest Palmers Green Ward Safer Neighbourhoods Newsletter. This edition covers the crime figures on Palmers Green Ward for April Crimes Recorded this month There were 115 recorded crimes on the Ward during this period. Burglary There were 6 residential burglaries, 4 attempted residential burglaries and 2 garage burglaries reported this month. CONNAUGHT GARDENS, between 6pm, 31st March and 11am, 1st April. Garage door found open and tampered with and the lock broken. Nothing noticeably was taken. NEW PARK AVENUE, on 4th April between 4am and 4.10am. Porch door and front door were forced open and items were taken from downstairs including vehicle keys and the victim s van was taken. NORTH CIRCULAR ROAD, on 6th April at 5am. Front door was forced open by an unknown tool slipping the Yale lock. The bolt and mortice were not secured. They were possibly looking for car keys for car parked on the drive. ULSTER GARDENS, on 6th April at 4.52am. The victim heard a noise coming from the front door and has not seen anyone outside. On checking their CCTV they have seen an unknown male walk towards the door and then begin walking away again down the drive before he begins to run. The victim has found an indentation on their door where the suspect has tried to force open the door but failed. CALLARD AVENUE, on 7th April between 5am an 5.07am. The victim was woken by a vehicle outside her address and then banging on her front door. She ran downstairs shouting and saw via the glass a vehicle moving away from the front of her address. There is damage to the door frame and no entry was gained. They were possibly trying to get keys for the car parked on the drive. MUNSTER GARDENS, on 6th April at 2.40am. The front window was smashed and CCTV shows the suspect with head and face covered except his eyes. Suspect made off after the window was smashed. NEW RIVER CRESCENT, on 10th April between 2pm and 9.40pm. The kitchen window forced open and smashed to gain entry at the rear of the flat. Untidy search completed and items taken from the lounge and bedroom include a laptop, ipad and jewellery. Entry was possibly gained to the rear garden via alley gate at side of the BRIDGEWATER HOUSE, GREEN LANES, on 8th April between 9pm and 11.59pm. Someone has gained entry to the communal garage which is secured by a gate and cut through the lock on the victim s bicycle and taken the bicycle. The lock was left behind. No damage caused to the gate or door to the flats. RIVER AVENUE, between 6pm, 12th April and 8am, 12th April. Slight damage to the front door has been found on victim s return. No entry was gained. DORCHESTER AVENUE, on 18th April between 12.30am and 6.30am. Porch door left unlocked was opened and front door which wasn t double locked forced open with an unknown tool. Handbag, car keys and car were taken and credit cards were later used. GREEN LANES, between 10am, 16th April and 11am, 21st April. Block of flats which has suffered a fire and residents have moved out to temporary accommodation while repairs take place. Suspects have used a ladder which was leaning against the rear balcony to flat 1 to climb up and smash the balcony door. The flat was searched and property taken. They have then left via the front door and communal hallway and forced entry into the other three flats taking items from each. ASH GROVE, on 27th April between 11.45am and 7.30pm. The porch door was not double locked and wooden front door has been forced open. An untidy search of both downstairs and upstairs 2 bedrooms has been completed. A victim was home asleep in the 3rd bedroom and didn t hear them.

A number of burglaries could have been prevented this month if residents had double locked their doors. If a UPVC door is not locked with a key the door is left very weakly secure with a very small piece of metal keeping it secure. This point by the lock is where the suspects target with their screwdrivers or crow bars and can pop your door open sometimes with very little effort. Motor Vehicle Crime There were 17 thefts from motor vehicles and 11 thefts of motor vehicles reported in April. OSBORNE ROAD, between 6pm, 09/03/18 and 11am, 10/03/18. Car was taken BROOMFIELD AVENUE, between 11.30pm, 29/03/18 and 4.15pm, 31/03/18 (reported late) Wing mirror taken from passenger side of vehicle. NORTH CIRCULAR ROAD, between 12.01am, 17/03/18 and 8.30pm, 24/03/2018 (late report). Front and rear number plates taken. MADEIRA ROAD, between 10.30pm, 04/04/18 and 10.55am, 05/04/2018. Side window was smashed and items taken including 2 mobiles, wallet, cash, credit cards, keys and clothes. FIRS LANE, on 05/04/2018, 9am to 12pm. Vehicle taken from location apparently lifted by a tow truck. FIRS LANE, on 05/04/3018, 6am to 2.45pm Another vehicle taken from location apparently lifted by a tow truck. LIGHTCLIFFE ROAD, between 4.30pm, 09/04/18 and 8.30am, 10/04/18 Rear number plate was taken from vehicle. THE FAIRWAY, between 11pm, 09/04/18 and 7am, 10/04/18 Van window was smashed and wallet was taken. The cards inside have then been used at several locations. NEW PARK AVENUE, between 7pm, 11/04/18 and 10.18am, 12/04/18 vehicle was left secure outside location and items have been taken from inside it. DOVERIDGE GARDENS, on 14/04/18 at 6.10am Door handle was forced and entry gained and items were taken. ASH GROVE, between 3pm, 13/04/18 and 8am, 14/04/18 Vehicle was taken PARK AVENUE, 6pm, 08/04/18 and 12.30pm, 14/04/18 Vehicle was taken OSBORNE ROAD, on 15/04/18, 4pm to 5pm Wallet was stolen from van which was left unlocked.

4 ALDERMANS HILL, on 15/04/18, 11.15pm to 11.26pm Documents and sunglasses were stolen from vehicle which was left insecure. RIVERWAY, on 16/04/18, 12.01am to 6.16am Car door found ajar and contents from the glove compartment scattered over the front seats. Sat nav was taken. THE CREST, between 9pm, 16/04/18 and 7.30pm, 17/04/18 Vehicle parked at the above location was gone on return. DEVONSHIRE ROAD, on 15/04/18, 12.01am to 11.59pm Car was entered and papers strewn around the passenger doors. Blue disabled badge was stolen. OAKTHORPE ROAD, between 1pm, 14/04/18 and 10.55am, 18/04/18 Car was left at the location after breaking down and was found to be missing on return. THE FAIRWAY, between 12pm, 15/04/18 and 12pm, 19/04/18 car left at the location was gone on return. MAPLE LEAF COURT, BROOMFIELD LANE, between 11pm, 20/04/18 and 10.16am, 21/04/18 car left at the location was gone on return BARROW CLOSE, on 21/04/18, 6.30pm to 9.30pm Front number plate removed from vehicle and taken. ASH GROVE, between 5pm, 22/04/18 and 5am, 23/04/18 front and back number plates stolen overnight. NEW RIVER CRESCENT, between 6pm, 20/04/18 and 10am, 23/04/18 Suspect has entered the car through the boot and stole the Tom tom. LIGHTCLIFFE ROAD, between 1.30am, 18/04/18 and 10.30am, 24/04/18 Vehicle left parked at location was taken. NEW RIVER CRESCENT, between 10pm, 19/04/18 and 7am, 20/04/18 Vehicle left locked and secured entered possibly by using a device to unlock it. Items from the glove box and door pockets were gone through and the suspect ate a packet of biscuits. They may have cloned a key as the fuse box which contains the port was open. OAKTHORPE ROAD, between 11am, 20/04/18 and 10am, 24/04/18 Number plates taken from the front and the back of vehicle. PALM COURT, SHAPLAND WAY, on 25/04/18 at 1.30am Car taken from location ULSTER GARDENS, between 11.59pm, 29/04/18 and 5.30am, 30/04/18 Vehicle has been broken into and bag was found in the street by a neighbour. Money was taken from a purse and a wrapped Lego gift from the boot. Robbery There were 3 robberies reported in April. MUNSTER GARDENS, on 13/04/18, 3pm to 3.08pm The victim was approached by two males and one asked her a question and he then opened the car door and pulled her out and onto the ground. Both males got in the car and driven the car away. The car went up Munster Gardens towards Hedge Lane and was not seen again. FARNDALE AVENUE victim and suspect met and were friends at college then the suspect started asking for money and the victim gave it to the suspect after receiving threatening phone calls. MUNSTER GARDENS, on 24/04/18, 12.30am to 12.32am Victims have been sat in a car at the dead end of the road and been approached by the suspects who asked for any local dealers. After they said no the suspects drove away. A few minutes later they have returned blocking them in and threatened the victims with a knife and to stab them if they didn t get out and hand over the keys. The victims have done so and the suspects have driven their car away.
