Crime cannot flourish in a community that cares As you probably know, we the members and coordinators of Neighbourhood Watch in Rushmoor earlier this year decided to take control of the watches at a local level. Existing Rushmoor Neighbourhood Watch Coordinators should be familiar with Hampshire Alert and its benefits, so we need to try and expand our membership and promote Hampshire Alert within our community. Over the next few months we will leaflet homes in the Rushmoor area with guidance on how to join Hampshire Alert and Set-up/join a watch. If anyone needs help to do this, we have step by step guides. Please contact Ian, membership@rnwa.org.uk Your involvement with spreading the message to friends, family and neighbours is vital. Shaun Lehane (chairman@rnwa.org.uk) Rushmoor Neighbourhood Watch Association (RNWA) December 2018

Crime cannot flourish in a community that cares Rushmoor Neighbourhood Watch Association (RNWA) - AGM 2019 This has been an exciting and very hectic year for the reorganised RNWA structure. RNWA Members/Coordinators had an EGM in Jan 2018 and decided to change the structure and way we operate Neighbourhood Watch (NW) in Rushmoor. This has taken a lot of effort from the newly formed RNWA Steering Committee who have been mandated at the EGM to reorganise and restructure NW in Rushmoor. The focus of our first year has been to review and improve our systems, processes, literature and build solid working relationships with civic agencies and other associations. We have helped start-up some new Community Forums and rebuild existing groups. We have a very good relationship with other NW groups in Hampshire via the County NW Association. We have built on our relationship with Rushmoor Borough Council and are now integrating with the Safer North Hants operation and working closely with its team. The Police have opened-up communications with RNWA and we now have regular meetings with the Senior Police Officers in Rushmoor. We have been working hard to raise awareness and engagement of Rushmoor residents with Neighbourhood Watch. To support this, our Publicity Officer (Yvonne) has had 40,000 trifold Join Us leaflets printed which are being distributed to all households in Rushmoor. Meanwhile, our Membership Secretary (Ian) has been working hard to support new enquiries for joining or setting up a Neighbourhood Watch. As a user of Hampshire Alert, you already know the facility is our lifeline to you, so please continue to encourage your family and friends, neighbours and colleagues to register on Hampshire Alert. Ian has some step-by-step guides to help them register, just membership@rnwa.org.uk Work with the RNWA website is progressing with the help of our NW friends in Hampshire and we are at the point of going live, having our own RNWA page hosted on the NW County website. Finally, we still need volunteers on the Steering Committee. It is only an hour or so of work, once a month. It s great fun! You get to know new people and contacts in Rushmoor, you will pick-up new skills and you will get that nice feeling that you are putting something back into the community which is what Neighbourhood Watch is all about. Crime cannot flourish in a community that cares. Shaun Lehane (chairman@rnwa.org.uk)

FARNBOROUGH CENTRAL (Empress and Town Centre Wards) Your SNT team are: PC David Carpenter PCSO Michelle Curtis The Farnborough Central Community Panel got together this month to set new priorities to focus on for the next six months. Our new priorities are: Anti-Social vehicles (car meets) this is becoming more of an issue for Farnborough Central and so we aim to eradicate it from the area. Theft from Person (purse dipping) there has been too many reports of purses being stolen in the town centre and so the Beat Team will now focus on this, with events planned in town. More to follow next month. Community Priority Updates 1- Anti-Social Vehicles On Sunday 24th March there was another car meet at Farnborough Gate, which unfortunately did not give advance notice. There was an officer present throughout the entire event and it passed with minimal issues. As a result of this and the new priority, the Beat Team are now working with site management and other private land owners that may be affected. 2- Theft from Person Police are planning to carry out several events in town and we have ordered some crime prevention goodies. More to follow next month. Speedwatch results Are shown later in this Newsletter. Upcoming Events We will announce our upcoming events in the next Newsletter.

FARNBOROUGH NORTH (Fernhill & Cherrywood Wards) Your SNT team are: PC Katherine Armstrong PC Neil Prescott PCSO Gordon Pengilley We received 3 reports of burglaries this month. Access was gained by entering the rear of the properties. A number of items, mainly jewellery were taken. These were at the following locations, Whitehouse Close, Lye Copse Avenue and Sandy Lane. Please ensure that back and side gates are locked to make it more difficult for offenders to get into your back garden when you go out. Please also consider fitting CCTV, security lighting, window alarms and timer switches. Should you see anyone acting in a suspicious manner near any properties please let us know via 101. Upcoming Events Don t forget beat forums are held with Police and local councillors on the first Saturday of every month between and at the Fox public house Chapel Lane for you to come and ask questions about issues that are affecting you. We will be holding a beat priority meeting with local councillors Wednesday 3rd April at Rushmoor Borough Council to set new community priorities. We have received an increased number of reports of thefts from motor vehicles. Please consider fitting dash cams in your cars or CCTV on your property overlooking where you park your car. Community Priority Updates 1- Drug related issues in Farnborough North ward. Area s known for drug activity have been patrolled on a regular basis. A number of offenders have been found and dealt with. Please continue to report any suspected drug dealing whilst it is happening via Anti-Social behaviour (ASB) especially in Fairfax Road, Totland Close, Prince Charles Crescent, Moor Road and Pinewood Parks All play parks are patrolled on a regular basis on foot and cycle. We have not had any reports of ASB in any playparks this month. Again please call 101 should you notice any nuisance behaviour. Speedwatch results Are shown later in this Newsletter.

FARNBOROUGH SOUTH (Knellwood & St Marks Wards) Your SNT team are: PC Mark Hoban PCSO Terry Wellerd We attended the North Camp Matters Community Association Open Forum on 25th March. It was the first event of its kind organised by NCMCA. Also in attendance was Hampshire Fire & Rescue, Diane Bedford the St. Marks Councillor, Ken Muschamp the Deputy Leader of the Council, Roz Chadd, County Councillor and a representative from the Neighbourhood Watch scheme. The Forum gave residents a chance to ask agencies any questions they had about local issues. Due to its popularity, NCMCA have said they would arrange another one in a few months time, so don t worry if you missed out this time. One thing that we noted from this meeting was the number of issues that go unreported. If you are aware of an ongoing issue or witness an incident unfolding, please report this to Police on 101 or 999 in an emergency. This will give us a better idea of what is going on in the area and we can look to deal with it. month. The issues we had last month with youths causing damage seems to have dropped off. Investigations are still ongoing where suspects were identified. Speedwatch results Are shown later in this Newsletter. No events currently planned Upcoming Events If you use Twitter and would like to see more of what we get up to in the area then please This is a tool that we have been using more frequently recently to get out updates, crime prevention and generally let people know what we are doing. 1- Vehicle Crime Community Priority Updates You have hopefully received the Hampshire Alert sent out earlier in the month that advised that there had been a spate of thefts from motor vehicles. This spate has been across the whole of Farnborough. In the Farnborough South area we have had a works van broken into where a number of tools were stolen and two cars have had items removed. Thieves have targeted loose change, electronics and valuable items. It is always best not to have valuables on display in your vehicle and where possible to remove them completely overnight. When locking your vehicle it is advisable to check the vehicle has definitely locked by giving the door handle a try. 2. Anti-Social behaviour (ASB) No ASB has been reported to us in the Queens Road Recreation Ground or any of the other parks in the are this

FARNBOROUGH WEST (Cove & Southwood Ward, St John s Ward & West Heath Wards) Your SNT team are: PC Harry Hardman PCSO Lisa Attwood Burglaries: There have been two residential burglaries during the month of March and both properties were entered by smashing a rear glass door. Please can we remind all residents to take preventative measures to reduce the chances of becoming a victim of this crime. We would advise all residents to purchase window alarms as a cheap preventative measure. We would also strongly advise the option of CCTV/Burglar alarms to further protect your properties. relation to this and we are hoping that CCTV will identify the potential suspect(s). Speedwatch results Are shown later in this Newsletter. Upcoming events Community Priority Updates: 1. Target and reduce drug related offences, including drug supply and drug related violence across the Farnborough West Neighbourhood. Surgeries: 1st Saturday each month, 10 am to midday in the restaurant at The Plough & Horses, Fleet Road, Farnborough. This surgery is run by the local Councillors and Police are not always in attendance. One address that was currently an Operation Fortress address is no longer of interest to the Police. This is due to the Police, Housing and Adult Services all working together which resulted in the resident being moved to a more suitable accommodation. There have only been two drug related reports during March within Farnborough West which is a significant reduction. We will continue with our work around this priority and if you have information about drug-related crime where you live, contact: Hampshire Police in confidence on Tel: 101 Crime Stoppers Tel: (anonymous) rushmoor.police@hampshire.pnn.police.uk The support we receive from local people is vital in helping us make our communities safer and every piece of information is greatly appreciated. 2. To reduce criminal damage and in particular graffiti within the Ward. To prevent, investigate and prosecute those responsible where sufficient evidence is present. To also ensure cleaning of graffiti within the wards. There have been thirteen separate reports of criminal damage in Farnborough West, one of which is graffiti sprayed onto a vehicle. There are ongoing enquiries in

ALDERSHOT NORTH (Wellington & Rowhill Wards) Your SNT team are: PC Natasha Farr PC Daniel Eaves PC Baz Laksamba PCSO Marie Park PCSO Dominic Godbold PCSO Durga Thapa Aldershot North has continued conducting a regular high visible patrol in the Town Centre, car parks and in the parks where there have been anti-social behaviour (ASB) incidents in the past. The report of the ASB incidents has slightly dropped down and it has been fairly quiet. Officers have continued plain clothed patrols to tackle shoplifting, street drinking and acts of vagrancy in the Town Centre and all the parks. Police are also liaising with the shop owners and the Council to discourage street drinkers congregating in front of the shops and alleyways. As a result, a Criminal Behaviour Order has been issued and a few arrests have been made. Apart from a couple of reports of youths hanging around in Union Street, it has been fairly quiet compared to the past. With the help from the Rushmoor CCTV, youths will be identified and ASB warning letters will be issued in the meantime, Shops affected are also encouraged to issue a banning letter to those caught in ASB. We would also like to draw your attention to a recent press release on Friday 22nd March by Crimestoppers the charity that gives people power to speak up anonymously about crime. Crimestoppers is now offering a reward of up to 10,000 for information they receive that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the murder of a new born baby found in Manor Park, Aldershot on Friday 19th May Community Priority Updates: 1 ASB, West End Park 2 ASB, Aldershot Town Centre Speedwatch results Please contact PCSO Godbold for anyone who is interested in setting up a Speedwatch in their community. Upcoming events Nepali New Year Saturday 13th April 2019

ALDERSHOT SOUTH (Aldershot Park, Northtown, & Manor Wards) Your SNT team are: PC Karen East PC Simeon Poulton PC Lucy Hacker PCSO Kathryn Blanchard PCSO Ethan Worsell There are still thefts from motor vehicles happening within the area and a number of these have been targeted at vans. Keep your vehicle locked and secure with nothing on show. Where possible try to empty work vans of tools. Please report anything suspicious via 101 or 999 if an emergency. Burglaries are also an issue in the Ward this month. Keep doors and windows secure. Leave a light on when you go out or use a timer device to switch lights on and off at intervals giving the impression that persons are at home. Other deterrents could be shingle on the driveway, prickly plants underneath windows. Movement activated security lighting or CCTV. You can find prevention advice on the Hampshire Constabulary website. Rogue Traders are still in operation and this is a nationwide issue. Doorstop crime/rogue traders are criminals who use distraction tactics in order to gain entry to commit burglary. They will distract you to get into your property to steal items and sometimes there will be more than one person. They will have many excuses, for example, lost a pet, need to use the phone or claim they are from a utility service or even say they are from the Police. If you are unsure, call Police. Use a door chain or spy hole. Do not let anybody into your home. If you encounter any suspicious behaviour then call 101 or 999 if it is an emergency. Aldershot Park has some issues with anti-social behaviour (ASB). If you witness any ASB, please report your concerns to us via 101, on the force website or social media accounts. Finally, the clocks are going forward so daylight hours will become longer and the barbecue season is nearly upon us. Please remember to keep the front of your property secure when enjoying your evenings in the back garden. The Aldershot Neighbourhood Team has carried out Operation Sceptre which involved local businesses selling knives to underage youths. PCSO Kath Blanchard has held the Operation Stronghold event, which targets doorstep crime and offers crime prevention, with trading standards this month outside Morrisons.
